  1. Just wanna add that this is why it's so important to use only boiled, filtered, or distilled water if you use a Neti-Pot or like device. http://www.nbcnews.com/health/tap-water-neti-pots-linked-deaths-brain-eating-amoeba-cdc-960901
  2. Not that this makes it any better, but this isn't your traditional water park by a long shot. In a sense it's a large rapids ride with a series of alternate channels that allows you to raft or kayak down, and a ropes course. While I don't know for certain I'd imagine the water treatment process is different than what occurs in a tradional water park. That said it is a horrific incident and while the center seems like the likely culprit we may likely never know for certain, and there's not a ton that can be done to prevent such for those of us who enjoy fun in the water in the hot summer months. Cooler waters are safer and it's best not to stir up the bottom especially when your face is near it. Such a sad situation but don't live in fear. Here's a link to the attraction... http://usnwc.org/ Front page they have a link to their statement regarding the situation. Editing before I even actually post it- Seems that they do in fact actually treat the water quite rigurously and possibly even more so than most water parks. I've left my error in simply because I was suprised to learn that.
  3. While I don't think Beast will be referenced in the naming of this coaster I've always liked the names Spawn of Beast or Altered Beast if it's a hybrid. With the marker appearing near the Diamondback splash down brings new relevance to the splash down "key" teaser. Though I think the coaster won't go there but something else might.
  4. Doesn't seem like there was too much of a fire actually. Seems a motor overheated, not sure if one the LSM or kicker tires but see... http://www.local8now.com/content/news/Dollywood-spokesman-explains-smoke-seen-at-Lightning-Rod-383831761.html Edit: Seems Dollywood has recently filed a trademark for Camp DW. Looks like it will be kid activities. However I wonder if a campground is in the future resorts plan.
  5. Ugh, on that Toilet Paper Residue site there's a picture from an Instagram account showing lots of smoke at the start of the launch. My heart will ache if this turns into a Timber Tower situation. Don't know Huss to blame this time. Edited to add picture so you don't have to go to that Bob Avery site. Also hope this counts to give proper credit as it shows the Instagram account holder who took the picture.
  6. It would be a long span for wooden construction unless... Credit to L.A. Times via Google image search.
  7. Just speculation with no real basis here. But what if they've determined they need to do a huge change to the launch. Let's say these changes would take a couple months to complete, however they can currently run it with some reliability. So perhaps for now they'll run it as is during the peak season and perhaps through the remainder of the season rather than prolonging it more now. Similar to how Kings Dominion had added the horrific first drop trims to I305 until they could legitimately solve the problem with the reprofiled turn. The park could see it more beneficial to have its highly anticipated ride mostly open than having people wait even longer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  8. There's a documentary out about the ride. Worth watching for sure, wish they talked about the delay but none the less I enjoyed it. http://www.wbir.com/mb/news/local/documenatry-building-dollywoods-new-lightning-rod-roller-coaster/245091023 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  9. An analogy I used on Facebook to a whirlwind of comments is this. If I need to chop down a tree I can do so much easier with a chainsaw than I can a butter knife. I have no problems with most gun ownership but you don't need something that could take out a village when trying to protect yourself and your family or hunting to feed them or sport. Yes there will be other illegal means to obtain such weapons but if we save 1 human life with legislation it is worth it. I also find irony that the majority of the "they're gunna take err gunz" crowd is the same ones yelling for the walled border. Maybe you'll understand that irony maybe you won't. Also it was suggested here that they wish someone had a gun at the club. First problem, guns and alcohol don't mix. Secondly 0 mass shootings have been stopped by an innocent bystander. Next I'm not willing to accept that anyone with a gun should automatically be awarded title of judge and jury. To me the best possible number of guns in the world would be zero, sadly it's one of the worst inventions created by man and since that number can never truly become zero there isn't an easy answer. That doesn't mean we should stop trying. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  10. The poster against us has a right to an opinion of course. Heck regrettably I'll admit when I was of that age I said some horrible things to the community. I wasn't aware of that part of me back then and in hindsight I guess I was fighting myself more than anything. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  11. Hoping I can make it up there again this year. Hoping even more that if I make it I'll actually get to meet more of you all finally. I've had a blast every year I've been and one year a bit too much of a blast. I can't recommend the event enough. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  12. For some it's what's inside themselves which they hold the most hatred. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  13. ^I get what you're saying but there's nothing indicating this would be a dual tracked coaster. Which is why I don't think including hourly capacity for those as relevant. Heck Gwazi had a theoretical of 2800+ but it isn't relevant. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  14. GCI aren't that bad on capacity around anywhere from 850 to 1,750 an hour 24 ppl a train so not a B&M but not bad overall What GCI is getting anywhere close to 1700 that isn't a racing coaster?
  15. If they could find a way to remove the trims on the first drop and before the helix, while maintaining laterals I would be all for changes to The Beast. While keeping traditional wooden track of course. I still thoroughly enjoy the ride at night but I'd be lying if I didn't say I despise drop trims on any coaster. It's probably also why I felt blah about I305 because I only got to ride it with the trims on the drop. I'd rather cut height than add trims, easier said than done I know. 16. Just got the text Lightning Rod is now officially open! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  17. Wouldn't that include the layout as well though? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  18. What I don't get is that both KIexpo and OldSchool75 found the same blue prints, but neither divulge the other pages. I mean if willing to share the main goods why aren't the other one's? Not doubting that they might be harder to decipher but why not let us decide that? What's not being said here? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  19. Here's my really rough idea of it. Edit Link https://youtu.be/NFOrpO8LYZQ
  20. However just because I'm not 100% doesn't mean I'm not 98% sure it's a wooden coaster. It's like reasonable doubt even if it's just an O.J.'s worth. Edit: I made a very rough version in the original No Limits with a twist. If you want P.M. me and I could email it to you. I only have phone internet currently so I can't upload it to YouTube nor would I want to as it's pretty rough. Came in just under 3k feet for what it's worth.
  21. Or a smaller one no scale representation. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  22. Does GCI still do the road bed thing for the footings that they started with I believe American Thunder? If so that would be an easy way to determine manufacturer if you start seeing a wide side walk looking construction. Still not 100% sold that it's definitely a coaster as other possibilities are still there, but just a thought. Now off to play around in NoLimits. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  23. Not saying it's not a wooden coaster just without the other pages posted still think there's a lot that can't be ruled out yet. That said if a wooden the layout from above can look just as much GCI as RMC. Look at the layouts of Prowler, Lightning Rod, Goldstriker, and Outlaw Run. Definitely can't conclude a manufacturer at this point. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  24. Looking at the plan, what leads everyone to think it's for sure a wooden coaster and not say a water ride? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
