  1. If this incident and previous ones do in fact bring about more seatbelts, I just hope it'll be the ones that fasten to the restraint itself rather than across the lap. I find them to be much quicker to find and buckle than the others. That said those thinking that seat belts are fail safe I would like you to know that just a few months ago I spent a lot of time in salvage yards to find the correct seat belt mechanism for my car as mine had failed. I'll also note that my car was built by a company that was regarded as one of the safest manufacturers. Fast forward and now I am having issues with the seatbelt again only this time rather than a non retracting issue I now sometimes have an issue where it won't unlatch. So for me I trust those hidden safe guards more than the ones I've seen fail for myself.
  2. Was Texas Giant still using the non stop loading or had that already been abandoned? If the train still moving during loading I could definitely see where an op could've neglected the unfortunate rider
  3. I'll not go into the reasons why the Hawker poll has at least became just as biased as the rest of them and so on. As for YoungStuds topic of question it's a fair one. I had only heard of Cedar Point after a special featuring Magnum. It wasn't until Millennium Force however that I kept up with the park. In my view no doubt those installs following put the point on the map for many. That said there would've likely been alternative additions. Had there been no Intamin at that time Millie may have happened but may have likely been a Morgan. TTD probably would've never happened as no one else seems to want to touch 400' so perhaps we would've seen S&S build something similar to Hypersonic and given it's outcome it may have already been gone. Wicked Twister may have went the route of a Vekoma GIB which I'd be fine with but again due to the reliability it may have also vanished by now. Now Maverick is the trickiest one to figure out, perhaps it could have went with Mack and would be equally as impressive, but Premier seems like a better possibilty. In which had it went with Premier it likely would still be a fun coaster but I'd guess it wouldn't be a top 10 coaster like many put Mav in now. So had these things happened as I've predicted in hindsight, I feel like the park could be perceived much differently than it stands today. I do think having the Intamins turned out to be the right choice for the parks growth. Granted I'm sure there could be other choices that could've made the park even better, such as a 4d in place of ttd.
  4. I don't think it's quite too early for the next coaster speculation. Given that a dark ride can also be a coaster.
  5. Because it is the journey itself that matters?
  6. I'm hoping to see some trenching soon for an underground tunnel. I'd imagine it would be done during these earlier stages right?
  7. Can we please leave Donkeys out in fields and on T.P.R. Not trying to start this forum vs that forum but there are some that are glad this forum isn't that one, and vice versa I'm sure. IMHO donkeys fit well there, here not so much. Terp can be quite cryptic sometimes but I've never thought gibberish. BB1 why all the third person speak? As for the interest of the Kingdom, farther than I expected. Glad to see some progress, not willing to pay for a ticket yet (if they were selling).
  8. Just because the park is closed to the public doesn't mean it can't be open to the media. Then it would be announced to them that day and announced publicly on another day, which would fit into Don's saying it might not be announced on a day this summer as it would be two days.
  9. It would be nice if the parking fees included tram service. Granted I can't think of many trips to Kings Island where I felt a tram was needed but I imagine it would be nice for many. Now Dollywood on the otherhand if you park past lot C a tram definitely helps.
  10. ^ Not saying that it would be likely but it's happened before. http://rcdb.com/9795.htm
  11. Speaking of Myrtle Beach amusement parks. Upon one trip to a nearby campground, my Mom's friend had a camping site. We went to an amusement park, that was a small park with about 3 coasters and a bunch of nice flat rides. The park was called Magic Harbor. Does anyone remember this park? I have tried to find photos, with no luck. Its alleged to me that I went to that park many times I just happened to be to young to recall. If you scroll down quite a ways on the page on the link there's some pictures of the park and another link to some others. I would've replied sooner but I kept looking at other tidbits. http://htomc.dns2go.com/myrtle/
  12. All I see is a black screen on mobile... What is it? Or is there any other way to see it?Some scary mannequins standing at the gap in the fence and on a footing. As for how to see it on mobile I use Skyfire(app) for such occasions.edit: seems I was beat but keep the tip
  13. ^ Personally I'd rather Raven to never get Timberliners it's just fine as is. However Legend I could see as a nice fit for them. I'm a bit uneasy on how the hip restraint is with laterals though. I still don't understand the lack of love for that coaster (my favorite in that park) I would trade any of the wooden coasters at Kings Island for it. Ok maybe not The Beast or one side of Racer but I do enjoy it quite much.
  14. Since the King Cobra footings still remain even with the proximity of other construction. Any chance that they will be reused for the new ride. I know it's been done before Verbolten as example but not sure B&M has ever done that. Granted that's assuming this is a B&M project.
  15. I wonder if that's dependent on needing another extension, so he can dot all the i's and cross the t's?
  16. I do think black would give a more lagoon look. It's not a formal enough look in my opinion for the fountains and pool. However I do think some other finishes could enhance them. This site http://www.vikingpools.net/colors.php shows some different options for pool surfaces. I think the pacific blue shown would look quite nicely. Or if it ain't broke...
  17. Maybe I shouldn't believe it but I do, maybe because its close to what I was thinking and wanting. What I wonder though could the dive loop be more like an inverted coaster version of Gatekeepers first drop. That would explain a lot of the placing of footings in comparison to what's often thought to be the lift area. We should all remember that sometimes that someone will come in and spill the beans and will likely be trashed for such for sharing the info. Like when Firehawk was being built someone came here and shared the name. Of course he was practically ran out of here. Remember that behind every post is a person behind a screen inputting characters. Sometimes I feel people grow too many kahunas when they don't see who they are talking to. This is an internet community and we should treat each other as neighbors, even if some are the neighbors with all the gnomes out front, the non-mowers, the over-mowers, and so on. Edit; fooled but other points remain
  18. How are they ripping people off?I don't get it. You know by not charging anything to those just wanting to walk around. Or maybe giving people the option of buying per ride or unlimited rides for the price of a few individual rides. {end sarcasm

  20. I feel it's all relative. Yes Indiana Beach is likely a far better value. But what's the true worth of such if your hundreds of miles away? Over-priced? Maybe it would be in Monticello but in Myrtle Beach it's two rounds of putt-putt, a ticket to WonderWorks, or a dinner show. Comparatively it's very reasonable for it's area. There is also a waterpark albeit tiny, and they added a Wild Mouse and a couple other small rides this year. I don't think it's an all day park by any means but I'd go for SwampFox alone. Between the park and it's surroundings it can be an enjoyable experience.
  21. Aside from SOB's station being in a location they don't seem to want to currently reuse for the next attraction. I would believe the bigger problem in retrofitting the attraction from SOB is going from a two abreast train to a four abreast train. I may be wrong though it's happened at least once before. Side thought; Why hasn't anyone built a four abreast wooden coaster? I know traditional building would make it very wide with the catwalks and railing but if used topper-track you could lose most catwalks.
  22. I love the Swamp Fox and an interesting log flume. A good collection of flats as well. Its worth it in my opinion just take a leisurely pace. I prefer visiting towards evening as it seems to come alive in lights.
  23. I think it should be noted that a family oriented ride can also be thrilling. Dollywood for example considers Wild Eagle a family coaster even working with B&M to lower the height requirement. Powder Keg at SDC also is considered a family ride and many more examples just in those two parks. I would like to add to that Cheetah Hunt just to prove Intamin can build a launched and inverting coaster that is also a family ride. Not all families have children under 48" or whatever height requirement and I'm sure Mr. Ouimet understands that you can't please every family dynamic with every addition. Maybe this time he's going after families with children over (insert height) and maybe next time we'll get something like Antique Cars that will go after an even broader demographic. My biggest point in this is don't think that just because a company is expressing a desire to please their biggest paycheck doesn't mean there can't be thrill, and when and if the thrills become lacking they can fill that void.
  24. I too would think Great America would be the most thrill oriented of the choices. However if you do choose Dollywood also consider many thrills are found outside the park. Depending on when you go the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster may have opened by then. Here's a link to their facebook https://www.facebook.com/SmokyMountainAlpineCoaster?ref=stream they haven't released an opening date yet but construction seems to be wrapping up.
  25. ^ Phantoms and Eagles, awe makes me miss when KI had both.
