  1. I agree that if the trains are heavier, they move faster, but if the trains are moving faster (with more force), won't the friction between the wheels and the track, and the air resistance be greater on a faster train than on a lighter(slower) train. Just a point to ponder, and possibly chat about.
  2. Also if you towards the bottom of the pic, you can see the way the footings are going, which stays in line with the horseshoe turn.
  3. I agree with THE_BEASTmaster, it looks like the beginning of the horseshoe turn which would make sence if the lift is going towards sob. I thoght the same thing as PKIDelirium, but if you look at some of the pics on rcdb.com, the track is off to the side enough for the trains to pass with out hitting anything.
  4. did anyone notice all the white spots on the supports that are up already? Maybe its just dirty? Anyone have thoughts?
  5. I don't know much about coaster trains, but I do know that if they put the same trains on sob as they've got on Thunderhead in Dollywood, it will be an intense and much smoother ride. They are just so open and padded. Also, if these other trains you all are talking about are anything like the ones on twisted twins at KK, the ride will probably be terrible, in my opinion. Twisted twins is a slow ride as someone else said, and I was shaken so hard on some parts I haven't ridden it since. Even some of the slowest parts hurt really bad. That may have to do with the track, but sob isn't really known for its smoothness either.
  6. Does anyone have any pictures of the old Beast lake or know where I can find some. My dad has told me about it, and I've read about it, but I can't find any pictures of it. It would be really awesome if anyone had some pics. Thanks
  7. I forgot about my Kings Island shirt that I'm wearing right now. It's the ones with the star that were for sale this year.
  8. "If you like 6'5" 230 pound quarter backs with a lazer...rocket arm"
  9. my bad...I'll admit that the pretzel thing at the end with the fog is pretty cool.
  10. I agree that its a long walk, but its a big park. You have to walk 10 times farther just to get to your ride...whatever it is. A little bit farther isn't going to hurt anyone. Go to Cedar Point and ride Iron Dragon. If you think Top Gun sucks...you might fall asleep during Iron Dragon. I think that you spend more time on the lifts than not. If not, its close...short ride+2 lifts = boring. I'm not saying that Top Gun is the best coaster in the world, but its pretty good compared to what came before it...The Bat...and what was around when it was built. If you don't like the ride and think its too far away, I have a simple solution for you...don't ride it. When it comes to the lower level, I like looking in everytime I go by. Hope it gets opened again sometime so I can go in instead of just looking in.
  11. I have my first ride on sob picture (with the loop) and from last year, I flatened a quarter with the sob logo on it (with the loop) in about twenty years, that will be really cool to look back and say, "that coaster used to have a loop on it, and I rode it...here's proof...and a quarter) lol
  12. I know, just thought it would be a good laugh
  13. This is only my 8th post how can you hate me so much already. Thanks for the footer...I mean footing clarification. I've been using the wrong one. The first post thingy talked about the Gold Passes, does anyone know if you get Gold Pass perks with a Maxx Pass? I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find anything about it.
  14. I live near indy, and I've thought about driving by. Its not going to happen, but its nice to think about. Can't wait until I get to ride Firehawk in April!!!
  15. Cedar Fair has said that they are giong to try to make GL a more family oriented park. They have also said that the fact having two roller coasters in the front of the park doesn't make it look like a family oriented park. I think that they are removing the two coasters to make it look more inviting, and make more room for family stuff. I'll try to find where I read this stuff and I'll give a link when I do.
  16. I would love to experience a rollback on dragster. the only exciting thing thats ever happened to me on a roller coaster was a bird landed in front of the sensor on gemini causing our train to stop on the brakes right before the finale. Within 15 minutes we were movin along again. Back to dragster, How would you feel if you were a large person and a rollback happened while you were in the back seat. I think that would ruin about five minutes of my day. Atleast until the second launch makes it over the top.
  17. ah man speaking of things floating, has anyone else cut themselves on the arms and legs sign on Vortex. I hovered over the seat down the first drop in the back seat and by the end of the ride, i had blood dripping from my leg. Sorry if this disgusted anyone. they cleaned it up right away. Those safety signs can be dangerous.
  18. It was you pkitrumpet08 who hit me in the head. It didn't really hurt as bad as I thought it would. I can't really complain though, I do it too. I'm sure everyone has tried it atleast once or twice.
  19. I almost got hit by a flying cell phone while I was standing in line for Face-off this past season. It hit the ground between the two spikes and ended up in 3 or 4 pieces. I guess it fell out of someone's pocket mid-loop. Close call. That would have really hurt. One of my friends wore an AC/DC hat during Vortex in the back seat. It fell off, obviously, and hit me in the face, I just let it fall to the ground. We saw it later that day while exitting The Beast. Good times.
