  1. Oh give me a BREAK!! Watched the POV, and what a huge disappointment. I was seriously hoping for KI to do a coaster right, and all this is going to be is a dull, out-out-back journey with no serious overbanked curves or huge drops. I give up on Kings Island. I'm leaving the site. Enjoy the boring looking coaster next year.
  2. No, I said I didn't see the point in signing up for a website that I will only visit one time. Besides, why did KI set up the YT link if it's not going to be used? yeah honestly it took less than a minute. Just do it and quit *****in Back off, dude. I asked a very simple question over there, and got no answer. I have very valid reasons for not wanting to sign up for a website that I'm only going to visit one time. Watch your mouth, too. You're a new member and I don't appreciate your tone with me!
  3. No, I said I didn't see the point in signing up for a website that I will only visit one time. Besides, why did KI set up the YT link if it's not going to be used? I don't think it was you that I saw saying that... Then I humbly apologize.

  5. Double post... You know what? It's not worth the hassle. I'll just catch the news when I can catch it.
  6. Isn't it safe to assume that if the park is directing traffic to the page on LiveStream and not mentioning YouTube that it won't be streaming the announcement on YouTube? No, Thane, I try not to assume anything. Besides, the KI PR channel on YT had the link set up days ago. I'm asking a very simple question, really. I just want to know if that YT link will still work. That's all. I don't see the point in signing up for a website if I will only visit that site one time. I would just as soon wait until the details are posted here, or when they hit the news late tonight or tomorrow morning.
  7. ^ Truly, it's such an easy question. I just want to know if the live announcement will still be aired on the KI YouTube channel. If I have to sign up for Livestream, fine - so be it. But if NOT, I'd like to know sometime before tomorrow afternoon.
  8. ^ I did read the first post...I'm simply asking if we will still be able to watch in at the YouTube link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG9Du4exO64 Otherwise, I'll have to sign up for LiveStream, which I'd rather not do if I don't have to.
  9. Does this mean we will not be able to watch it on YouTube?
  10. ^ Awesome! Thanks so much for the response. And Welcome to KIC.
  11. I may have overlooked the answer to this question, if it has already been asked, but... I won't be able to make it to the announcement Thursday evening, so will it be aired live anywhere? On the KI website? Here? Somewhere else?
  12. EVERYONE else? I don't recall saying which team I was on.
  13. IIRC, you were the eternal optimist, holding out hope 'til the end, that it was an Intamin.
  14. Well you see, as some have suggested, the hint about "Over the river and through the woods" is an allusion to Little Red Riding Hood. What few people know is that Little Red Riding Hood was actually Jack's girlfriend...you know, from the Beanstalk tale. Jack was just his nickname. His full name was John. Anyway, the two of them used to frolic around in the woods, and often would climb Jack's beanstalk to visit the giant who lived at the top. You see, the giant wasn't such a bad guy. In fact, he owned his own amusement park, complete with a fun little roller coaster that looked like a train, and he loved when little kids came to visit him. Jack and Little Red loved the coaster, and had so much fun riding it. (BTW, that's where the "Riding" part of her name actually came from). Later, when Jack...er, Johnny (as Red called him)...learned that his beloved Red was eaten by a wolf, it made him very sad and he wanted to create a monument dedicated to her. What better way to do that than to build a replica of the giant's roller coaster, and dedicate it to her! So Johnny...er, Jack...climbed the beanstalk one last time to swipe the giant's gold coins. And with them he was able to pay for the construction of a magical, fun-filled coaster of his own - and he dedicated it to Red. He named it Johnny's Little Red Choo Choo. Oh, there was a HUGE celebration throughout all the land. Even the last little pig came out of his brick house to join in the festivities. It's said that the spirit of Red rides the coaster day and night, and whenever Jack is down he hops on himself so he can once again ride with the love of his life. HA!! Wow, you have some great Photoshop skills! Kiddie rides are underated. Rode Flying Ace Aerial Chase last night love that ride. [emoji3]Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Yeah, I've had some fun on The Beastie when the ride ops would let us go through for 2-3 rides in a row when there weren't any people in line. That was years ago.
  15. Again, just speculating. More like dreaming, knowing my luck and what I'd like to see at the park. I'm not really holding my breath about anything related to the project. For all I know, it could be Johnny's Little Red Choo-Choo Kiddie Coaster and only goes 25' high.
  16. Actually the plans include an exploded view of a section which was labeled area of work. This section has exact measurements. Based on this it was possible to get a scale for the layout from a top down perspective. From there you could estimate track length based on other rides. Unless this ride has steep sections of track which is unlikely based on the drawings we have a pretty good idea of a reasonable range for the length. Okay, obviously I've missed a section of the plans which shows any measurements. Do you have a link to where I can see it? If it was posted in this thread, I think I've overlooked it. Also (I think I asked this before), what is the possibility of the first drop bottoming out in a tunnel below ground level, similar to The Beast's first drop? Could the number I'm seeing (yes, yes, I realize few others see it) indicate drop instead of lifthill height?
  17. This is KI not CP if CP wanted to do a coaster every year they could. Just remember where the CF head quarters is located.I just don't see it being 198 ft high if the track is only 3400 ft long. It doesn't match up with what has been done so far. Now if they are making it I say 4000 plus feet long well yeah. But not off the plans we have seen. I'm no expert but just going of the info Givin so far. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Where has it been revealed HOW long the coaster will be? People are looking at an overhead layout of the coaster, but there is nothing...NOTHING...on those plans which gives any kind of indication about scale. Everyone is simply speculating about length and height. Top Thrill Dragster is 420' high, goes 120mph, but is only 2800' long. I know that's a steel coaster, but don't limit your imagination. Which is why I said if no one else sees it, no big deal. I can try to post a side-by-side. I'll see what I can do.
  18. Regarding the number 198 ( actually, to me it looks like 198' ) - I originally saw it and pointed it out. But then again, that's just me...I tend to see things hidden within images. It may not be anything...or it may be something. I'm not trying to make a big issue out of it. If no one else sees it, that's cool. No big deal. But if some of us DO, don't criticize us and tell us we're hallucinating or delusional, etc. We're just speculating...and decoding, which is what this thread is about, right? For those who may be interested, and you can't see it, the white numbers showing 198 are in the top right corner and seem to be blending in, as if they are "lurking" (sound familiar?). It's not obvious at first. Think about a CAPTCHA, which often looks like distorted numbers and letters. Plus, don't zoom in on the photo or it will just look pixelated. And if you look along the top of the pic, above the gap between the "N" and "A", you can see a green 6 with a green 4 beneath it. According to the scale given on the drawings for the Area of Work, extrapolated out for the entire length (3250ft), the straight section is at most, 280ft long. From that, our height would be between 140-160ft based on the incline angle. If they push the incline to 35° that would get them to 196ft. What if the first drop bottoms out below ground level, perhaps in a tunnel? CP installed Valravn only 3 years after Gatekeeper.
  19. Ah HA....so maybe it WAS the number 198 I saw lurking in the top right corner of that teaser pic. Interesting.
  20. First, I'd like to encourage everyone to read the TOS that Dane (the site admin) set forth, which includes the following: "Respect - This is totally obvious so I'm not going into detail, but I will tell you this: if you get angry or frustrated, put out the flame thrower because a post that's disrespectful to another user, group, or individual is going to constitute a warning." Let's see...I'm not Terp, that's for sure. But I've been here for 8 years. You've only been here for 2 months. I may not be anybody, nor do I have several thousand posts (usually because I don't know what to say, and my opinions tend to be passionate, so I try to keep my mouth shut, although I sometimes have trouble biting my tongue) - BUT, I wasn't trying to tell you what you could or could not talk about. I wasn't trying to offend you or anyone. I was just making a friendly suggestion to keep it on topic. It's an unspoken courtesy thing in message forums, and I think others share that opinion. Sometimes we have time limitations and can't weed through all the posts which have nothing to do with the subject of the thread. There are other threads in the forum where some of these posts can be made. That's all I meant. No harm, no foul. To add to that....We have been talking about this new coaster all day. Sure at times we get a little sidetracked but who is it hurting. There really isn't a lot of information to "decode". I just don't see the need to come in here and tell us to not talk about anything else but this project. After you have not posted at all today. I am not talking about MagLiz. You have posted great pictures and keep them coming for us who can't make it to Ki that often! I DID post earlier in the day...about 4 hours prior. (Maybe you overlooked that post.) But I don't spend every waking hour checking for updates. If contributing a post every day is what keeps a member in good standing, then you might want to have a talk with Terp.
  21. Can we keep this thread focused on decoding Project 2017? Photos of coasters interacting with water are great to look at...I enjoy it...but perhaps better left to another thread. Same with discussion about other parks and coasters, including other KI coasters. Signed, Secondson - not trying to sound grumpy.
  22. It could be a 98...or maybe 158...or maybe nothing at all. haha. It could just be the way it appears on my computer screen. Since the 6 and 4 are vertical, maybe they're references to certain elements of the ride instead of the speed? You could potentially be onto something here. The model of a vintage truck hauling logs, which was sent to the local media, looks like a 1965 pickup, which is the year Wildcat was removed from Coney Island. Next year is KI's 45th anniversary, and maybe the model truck teaser is a way of saying they're bringing back an old wood coaster name - Wildcat - except they're building an updated version...? (Wildcat was also right next to the Ohio River at CI, so it would fit in with Rivertown quite easily.) It would be a way of resurrecting the coaster and making the vision you speak of come true.
  23. I found this post really intriguing. Everything has been about cutting down trees and stump and sticks...... this one says nature is taking over. I think this one may actually be a clue to the name. Whats lurking in the forest could too but i think they are just referring to the coaster going up in the woods. Top right hand corner...am I the only one who sees the white number 198, or am I just seeing things? Plus, if you zoom in to the upper left along the top of the image, above the letter "N", it seems to show some more numbers. Looks like a green 6 with a 4 under it.
  24. You mean 219 right? This thread has only been through 242 pages. On mobile device we are upto 726 pages.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk It might be better to reference the actual post number, instead of the page number upon which the post is found.
  25. With Gatekeeper at CP, I just don't see KI getting one...certainly not anytime soon. Look how long it took for us just to get an invert. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought since CF put one at CP, it pretty much meant KI wasn't going to get one due to how close it is to CP.
