  1. Okay, Glenda. "It's Galinda, with a Ga." Actually, we're both wrong. It's Glinda, spelled with an "i", but no "Ga".
  2. YAY! I'm finally at 500 posts. Where are the fireworks? What - no fireworks? Okay, bring on the whi....te milk. Yeah, that's it. LMAO!! One of your best ones to date, Terp.
  3. *hiss* Alright, them's fightin' words. Apparently he was trying to hack up a hairball at :12 before the big event.
  4. http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coasters/new02/cp_wickedtwister/cp_wicked_pr.shtml Ugh....semantics. I'm sorry...really...but I don't see the connection. All I see in the article is a reference to how CP would be the only park in the world with 3 coasters over 200'. I suppose, yes, that was a world record for a park, but maybe I'm missing something in what you guys are saying. I mean, at that time, WT was announced to be the world's tallest and fastest twisting impulse coaster....ie. a world record-breaking attraction. It just seems to me that "world record-breaking attraction" is a reference to a "world record-breaking attraction", and not a clever play on words for the sake of marketing in which they play around with the collective minds of the public, tricking them into thinking the ride itself will be a record breaker, all the while secretly knowing the record would only apply to the entire park as opposed to the attraction itself. Has anyone seen my Disaronno? I think I need it tonight. I could use a good buzz. Yeah, like the Getty Center. I'm dying to go see that place. Maybe this will help you Kat sweet! Thanks! I'll go look at that right now That's really sweet looking!!! Maybe a stupid question, but I'm assuming that's based on the actual blueprints? It's based on his interpretation of the blueprints. I'd say it's a really good attempt to match what the blueprints show, but we can't say it's definitively what the coaster will be like. No doubt there are certain tweaks that would need to be made to it. Go out in the yard and play. We'll call you inside when supper's ready. Meow!
  5. The news has already reported it as world record breaking....not park record breaking. He means that the park as a whole would break the world record for most inverted track in a single park. The news has already reported it as world record breaking....not park record breaking. I'm not sure if we're on the same page. The coaster would increase some statistic for the park as a whole, and in doing so, the park would claim a world record. The record, however would be a record for "Most x in one park" rather than "Most x on one coaster", if that makes any more sense. I'm not getting at this ride having the most inverted track at KI, I'm talking more about this ride increasing the amount of inverted track among ALL KI rides to an amount that gives Kings Island the world record. If that makes more sense. Edit: Darn jcgoble3... Ehhh.....now I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure I accept that as the "world record" they're talking about. For one thing, KI itself has said this will be a world record breaking attraction. (I suppose if we're going to be that technical, they didn't say it would be a coaster, either, did they?) But I think if it were something involving a record for the park itself, they would have worded things differently. They simply would have said it would set a world record for the park - not that it would be a world record breaking attraction.
  6. The news has already reported it as world record breaking....not park record breaking.
  7. Apparently I'm on your crap list now because I questioned your logic the other day, and I didn't feel like arguing back and forth with you. I still don't. But let me just say this... The name "Tatsu" means "flying monster", or "flying beast". I haven't seen any hints that the new coaster was going to dethrone a flying beast. I HAVE seen a reference to the new coaster dethroning a mountain spirit. If you read my comment, you'll see the name "Alpengeist" literally means "Alpine spirit"...or "mountain spirit". And Alpengeist is an invert. Now, when you referenced Tatsu, but said " I know it is less likely due to Firehawk ", you placed yourself in the same position you're accusing me of being in. I doubt the new coaster will be a sitdown for a number of reasons, only a minor one of which is the fact that we already have 2 sitdown loopers, and this new coaster is supposed to be a world record breaking coaster. A coaster would need to have at least 15 inversions to be a world record breaking sitdown coaster. To break the height record, it would have to be over 465' high. That's not going to happen at KI due to height restrictions. To break the speed record, it would need to go faster than 150 MPH. That's not going to happen either due to the layout we see on the blueprints. The major reason I doubt it will be a sitdown is because of the layout and positioning of parallel footers coming out of the station, and in the final brake run. Now, since you're following my posts so closely, read what I said in this comment earlier. Please note that I said I was only 98% convinced it would be an invert. There is a minor bit of wiggle room, but not for it being a sitdown.
  8. Trust me, if I were sitting on the edge of the seat I'd probably tip the chair over and hit the floor. I don't trust these desk chairs on rollers. I've broken too many of them. One time I reclined back and kept going. I thought the floor was falling out from under me. I landed on my back, legs up in the air like a woman giving birth. The metal was so fatigued from me leaning back that it actually broke!
  9. Cute pun. I'm not throwing 100% of my full weight of confidence behind it being an invert, but for several months I've been 98% convinced that's what it would be, and I don't see much to make me think otherwise. If we didn't already have Firehawk, I'd be torn between invert and flyer. It could conceivably be a floorless, but I highly doubt it with the parallel footers. And I can't imagine it's a dive coaster with the blueprint showing that many inversions.
  10. I'm not sure why they'd build another sitdown looper when we already have Vortex and FoF. Besides, in reference to KI, I read something a few weeks ago on another coaster enthusiast forum which said "in 2014 a mountain spirit will be dethroned". Alpengeist is currently the "king of the mountain" when it comes to inverts, and the name Alpengeist literally means "Alpine spirit". haha i know my post was a little far fetched but I'm curious why the 2014 coaster didn't go beyond the valley.... They may want to use the extra land for a new expansion to the park, including flat rides, shops, and restaurants. I think someone else mentioned it....maybe the extra prep work is for theming? Or perhaps just preliminary steps toward a future expansion to the park in 2015 and beyond? Flight Deck isn't considered an invert. It's just a suspended coaster. Invertigo isn't a full-circuit invert. And in all fairness, though Flying Ace is an invert, it's on the other side of the park and not exactly a high profile, thrilling coaster.
  11. I think YoungStud is entitled to his dream. He has his hopes just like the rest of us. He may not be getting what he wants this time around, but I personally hope the next big coaster is exactly what he's dreaming for.
  12. Sorry, but I just gotta post it. Pay attention to timestamp 3:00:
  13. Yep, I posted a link to it late last night. I didn't want to hotlink to the image because I wasn't sure if Lord Gonchar would appreciate it.
  14. I assume that's a temporary setup...? If so, do you think they'll allow you and Terp to have those props?
  15. Yes (it is possible. Or that it does not. On the other hand it is also possible it will be named Kinzelmonium). Maybe it will be named "Oh SHHHHH****TTTTTTTTTT" - because that's probably what people will be screaming on the first drop. (Pardon the language.)
  16. Oh sheesh, I'm sorry. I really am. It's been a bad week with my uncle dying suddenly and my dad's not handling it well. I have a lot of things on my mind. Maybe I shouldn't be posting about this stuff right now. Thanks for the clarification.
  17. I don't think several news outlets would claim to have obtained copies of the blueprints through a public records request with the City of Mason if they were fake. I also don't think Don would post a link to the Enquirer article if what the Enquirer was reporting wasn't true. And why would KI go through the hassle, and expense, of filing fake blueprints? Is there any history of them doing that in the past? I watched the WLWT video, and for a few brief seconds it showed the coaster layout, which matched the layout we see on the blueprints from the YouTube video. Yeah, I agree. Many times people think of a single blueprint as being the only one necessary to construct a building or any other structure, but that simply isn't true. For a single project there can be numerous overhead plans and side elevations drawn up, ranging from the layout/floorplan itself, to electrical schematics which don't show plumbing details, and plumbing schematics which don't show electrical details, etc. A building floorplan can be nothing more than the foundation layout and dimensions, while another floorplan shows the placement of the walls only. Looking at the blueprint in that video, I suspect what we see is nothing more than the placement of the footers and the corresponding part numbers for the relevant supports which will go on those footers. If you notice, it doesn't show specific detail of the bolts themselves. There are also no dimensions listed, other than the scale on the blueprint.
  18. Oh the irony. You're a class act, Young Stud. In 2 minutes, you tell someone not to dis another person's creative idea, but then you turn around and dis one yourself. Hypocrite. TOTAL hypocrite.
  19. I gotta say it's been an interesting evening reading this thread. I definitely think the blueprint is legitimate. I went to school for drafting, and there's nothing I can see about it that would make me think otherwise. The only thing I'll add is that if you look really closely at the video and follow the course of the track, you'll see where part of the track is directly above a footer between the helixes. To me, that means the track is inverted at that point, since the support would be directly under the track. Assuming this is indeed an invert, I think we're looking at another zero-g right before the final helix. That would take the number of inversions to 7. Anyway, I saw this on Coasterbuzz, and wanted to post a link to it. Pay attention to Lord Gonchar's post at timestamp 10:53. Click the link that says "There's your Banshee".
  20. There are people behind the avatars of every board member here. I've looked at a lot of them. Some of them are just pictures of different things, but a lot of them are actual faces of members, and I see many beautiful faces of people with real feelings. They are people with hopes, dreams, ambitions, and ideas. We never know what personal fears, struggles, pains, or heartaches they may be experiencing. Sometimes I think if we actually all met one another in person, we wouldn't say some of the things we say in this forum. I think I'm going to back out for a while and wait until the night of the 8th to find out what this project is all about. So I'm going to retreat to being a lurker again. I'll still be around, but just observing. You guys take care.
  21. Very nice! It's amazing how much it's similar to the layout I had in my mind, too!
  22. And thank you for saying it. I honestly have no idea who he is.
  23. Now see, here's the problem. Those of us in the invert camp have given our reasons why we believe it will be an invert. We've presented the evidence which supports our opinion. What kind of evidence have those in the Intamin/giga camp shown us to support their opinion? I asked you less than a half hour ago for what you see as evidence that it will be a giga, and you haven't answered that question. intaminallday does not have to answer. Do you think your johnny cochran? Who's Johnny Cochran? Oh wait, you probably won't answer that because I'm not Johnny Cochran.
  24. Why in the world would we do that? You didn't ask anything wrong. We aren't being mean to you. We just feel it's better for new members to get caught up by reading through the posts first so we don't need to keep explaining things that have already been explained. There are SO many questions that are easily answered by reading through the thread. If it's a new question, we'll be happy to answer it for you. You expect every new user considering posting in this thread to read almost 10,000 posts? By the time they do that, the announcement will have already been made. And they have no way of knowing at what point to start reading, especially when the thread list only provides links to the first three pages and the last one. I think we can cut the new users a little slack in that regard. I told him a good page to start on would be page 308. Go re-read my initial response to him.
