  1. My friends and I are planning on taking a trip up to CP for Labor Day weekend. I've always tried to avoid parks on Holidays... so my question is, can anyone tell me what the crowds have been like in previous years for Labor Day? Edit: I didn't mean to put this under this forum... it was supposed to go under the other Amusement Park section. Sorry!
  2. When I was younger, I used to love walking through the front gate and all of a sudden International Street appeared. The sight of the fountains and the tower was just breathtaking. I also remember there used to be a certain "clean and fresh" scent from the water that I no longer smell when I go through the entrance. But as for sounds... the music that used to play on I-street and the sound of the lift chains clinking.
  3. According to google maps, I am 99.5 miles away. I can usually get there in about and hour and 45 minutes.
  4. I got 90%... missed the Rick Wallenda question. I didn't know whether it was his father or grandfather. I chose the wrong one... obviously.
  5. I personally love the back seat. But, I prefer the back on most coasters. The only exception is Vortex. Don't know why. I did ride in the very front on FOF last year for the first time and I really enjoyed that too, but it dries out my contacts very quickly.
  6. I completely missed you the other night. I was looking for you (and all the other KICers that said they would be there). And it is better when it's darker. It's harder to get the scares in with the sunlight peeking through over the walls. But that problem will solve itself as the sun sets earlier. I remember you saying on here that you were in Slaughterhouse and I looked for you, too... but I didn't see you. Maybe next time!
  7. Then maybe you shouldn't do the same thing every year lol just sayin depends on which bat guy. the vampire one with the red leather jacket is but not the grey gargoyle one (at least i dont think so) It wasn't my choice to go in with that many people. I was only with a group of three. The person at the entrance is the one that put us all together. I'm certain that I would enjoy it more with a smaller group. It was the grey gargoyle one. I don't know that I saw the one with the red jacket.
  8. I had a great time last night. It was one of my better trips to haunt. I made it through all of them and was still able to get 5 rides in. My ratings for the Haunts: 1. Trail of Terror - very good, a lot better than last year. 2. CornStalkers - this was my least favorite last year and the actors did a great job of scareing the crap out of me 3. CarnEvil - great visual effects, I never see the polka-dot guys coming (I hate clowns, so this may have increased the scare factor for me) 4. Tombstone Terror-Tory - the actors on this got my friends a lot... very funny for me to watch from the back 5. Club Blood - didn't get a lot of scares but the actors were quite amusing 6. Slaughterhouse - this was the first one that we went through and it wasn't dark at the time, it may be better when it's darker 7. Cemetery Drive - first time that I had been impressed with this haunt 8. Massacre Manor - not as good as previous years, but still good 9. Cut Throat Cove - decent scares, but I was more amused with my friend getting startled than anything 10. Urgent Scare - I was in the middle of an extremely large group (maybe 11) and didn't get to enjoy it at all. Last year the same thing happened to me and I was dissapointed again this year by that situation 11. Death Row - I was basically annoyed by the mirrors and strobes by the end of it, but the actors still did well I didn't get a chance to see the shows, and I am probably not going to be able to go again this year because of my own Haunt, but I was able to hear some of the music played and it sounded pretty good. Is anyone on this site The Bat looking guy with the platforms on?... he got me as I was leaving.
  9. I will be there with a couple of the kids that worked for me this summer. I hope that my fellow KICers will give me a great scare!
  10. I will be at the park on Sept. 25th and would like to renew my pass, but I want a platinum pass. I haven't heard anything about a deal on the Platinum passes. Has anyone (that could tell me)?
  11. ^ I think that's a good way to get people to buy the upgraded passes... to include Haunt with gold or platinum, but not regular.
  12. There is a really good one in Greenwood, IN (just south of Indianapolis) called the Asylum House. It is an interactive haunt, meaning the actors can and will touch you and invade your personal space. The actors there are very good and really into the whole theme. I was completely scared to death when Micheal Myers backed me into a corner and stayed in my face.

^I totally agree. I love that ride... until I get to the elephant. If I wanted to get drenched, I would ride Congo Falls.
  14. I am not working the Haunt... live too far away and have my own "haunt" that I put on at work, but I will be there opening night on the 25th. I look forward to being scared by my fellow KICers.
  15. I don't know how much the lines will be reduced by not including Haunt with the season pass. I guess we would need to know what the percentage of season pass holders are at the park on any given Haunt night compared to people that purchased tickets, to get an idea. Which I don't know, but I'm sure that someone does. If it is a good percentage, I could definately see them not including it to gain some extra profit before the season ends.
  16. I received both of my tanks and both of them fit ! I was worried because of the junior sizes that they wouldn't but now I don't have to exchange them.
  17. Great TR. You really summed it up. I had a great time hanging out with all of you, and it was definately worth the drive. What I was most impressed with was the customer service. As I think you put it, it was an attittude of "What can I do for you", instead of the usual I'm here because I get paid to be. A lot of places, including where I work, can certainly take a page out of their book. The ride ops took your loose articles while you were waiting for the next train to come in and even had FREE lockers at each of the ride stations. I also enjoyed that they had more diet drink options than just Diet Pepsi. Yay, Diet Mt. Dew!!! The Voyage certainly lived up to the hype. Every seat that I rode in gave a great ride. I told Gator on our last ride of the day in the middle that I could probably use a tamer ride right before heading home. No luck with that. Even the middle of the train had massive airtime and gave you the "get to know your neighbor" effect. Pilgrim's Plunge, however, was a bit dissapointing. From what I saw online, I thought that the drop would be steeper, but it really wasn't. The elevator lift was cool though, I was a little aprehensive about that part of it. All in all it was an awesome time and great company. I'm glad that I wasn't one of the many cars that I saw getting pulled over on 65 and 64 on the way there and on the way home. Thanks for posting the videos and pics for the day Kat!
  18. I ordered a juniors size medium. I could squash into a juniors size small if I tried, but I'd probably rip it. A medium is more flattering and comfortable for me. Take that with a grain of salt though.. everyone's body is different. I was worried about the Juniors part... I guess I'll just wait and see. Mabye they have an exchange policy if it doesn't fit.
  19. Thanks... I haven't been that way since last May. So I don't need to change the way that I go, 65 just goes another way?
  20. Didn't think about the traffic from the Derby... know any other ways besides going around Louisville?
  21. I am hoping that my shirts will be at home waiting for me when I get there. My only worry is the fit. Giga - I know that you're smaller than I am, but would you tell me what size you ordered, since you said it was a perfect fit? I'm hoping that you got a small because I ordered a medium, hoping...
  22. Unfortunately, your mom won't be watching Guiding Light for much longer... Guiding Light Cancelled
  23. According to the KICentral timeline, no new rides were added in 1980, but "Scooby Doo is renamed The Beastie. The Beast becomes an even bigger monster hit with the addition of a new stretch of tunnel combining two short tunnels and the re-banking of a portion of the track." From rcdb.com - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad- Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom Carolina Cyclone- Carowinds Corkscrew- Valleyfair! Judge Roy Scream- Six Flags Over Texas Laser Loop- Kennywood Nightmare Mine- Frontier City Orient Express- Worlds of Fun Roaring Tornado- Magic Springs & Crystal Falls Scorpion- Busch Gardens Africa I may share a birthday with these rides, but I have not been on any of them.
  24. I think Rivertown looks amazing this year. I agree with Angie's comment about the hard work they put into it and how it looks welcoming. It seemed like such a dead area in the past few years. Once the trees fill out, we may be surprised how it looks.
