Air traffic control can tell with radar.

Air traffic controller here. And yes, we can tell most of the time. That doesn't mean we police a guy that's flying VFR. The pilot of the aircraft does not have to talk to us so long as he/she isn't in Class Bravo/Charlie/Delta airspace.

I honestly don't care what Joe Pilot does flying his Skyhawk (Cessna not Cedar Point's screamin' swing).

Ridership: Flight of Fear has given 10,806,406 rides since 1996, the 20th-most in park history. Its record year was 1998, when 1,078,021 rides were given.  (Numbers through 2009 season)

Exactly my point. *Runs to take down poster again*

I wonder if 20:11 has something to do with this...

WindSeeker and Dinosaurs Alive were added that year.

Already stated by someone else above. 11, # of years FH was at KI. 20, # of years Invertigo has been at KI.

Having ridden 30 or so of B&M's snoozers, I have come to expect nothing from them, yet I still feel let down.

Agreed, I just wish CF didn't have such a love affair with B&M.

    But they're so reliable!

Too bad Intamin screwed up Shoot the Rapids so badly.

Exactly-I went up last year and had my 1st experience of a dive and winged coasters. While they were both unique and awesome in their own way, they simply do not provide the 'WTF was that?!?' feeling of SV, MF, or TTD. Here's hoping that our new one is in a league with those last 3.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I personally haven't been to KI since 2015 (now in NE OH, but grew up in Dayton), but I know even Mystic Timbers has that "fun" factor. I say that based on the many other GCIs I have been on. You just want to re-ride over and over again. I get that same feeling on MF, SV, TTD, to name a few.

However, like you said, Valravn and GK are cool rides. I like them, but I am satisfied with my trip to CP if I get to ride them once. If I only get 1 ride on SV, I am disappointed and don't feel fulfilled. Maybe I am just greedy though.

I guarantee, this will be one of those rides that you keep saying "ONE MORE RIDE!"

And as a side note, I just watched POVs from Leviathan and Fury. They each have a tunnel of some sort so I think there's a good chance this new Giga will as well.

With what I've read and seen of the plans, the best thing about this sorry coaster is it should keep lines down for the other rides in the park. I think KI would have been better served with a dive or wing than the kmart coaster being built

BOOOO! I would have been so disappointed with either of these. I don't know many people who go to Cedar Point because they HAVE to ride GateKeeper and/or Valravn. They go for SV, TTD, and MF (not to mention the beautiful peninsula itself). Sure, they are good additions to add variety but I do not think you will see either of those coasters in peoples' top ten lists. Yet, you see Fury, Leviathon, MF, and I305 in MANY top ten lists.

    Just sayin...

Yeah I think the leaked layout is likely real. It makes sense that we would get the “worst” giga or “budget” giga, but I’m just pumped to finally get a giga after all these years. Should be a kickass ride.

If anyone was quick to call this the worst giga, let me just remind y'all of 2006/2007.

    Maverick.

People were ANGRY. "What the heck is that ride?!?" It seemed as though everyone was hoping for some kind of huge, record-smashing coaster. Mind you, this was the first coaster after TTD.

Expectations were so high and then the announcement came. I will admit it. I was crushed. "Really?" "That's it?"

Fast forward a few months. MIND BLOWN.

One of the absolute best coasters on the planet.

    That is all.

Let’s be realistic here— besides us, the GP that is the 99% of KI on a daily basis isn’t going to know the difference or the stats on a new coaster or care for that matter. A new ride is a new ride and new experience to them. Something new will always draw the masses.

We are the 1%ers. Only we will know the specs, the enthusiasts feeling towards the ride overall, and what a limited few think of it. That’s it.

I don’t care what someone posts on Reddit comparing CP to KI. They will never be as a good as us. We don’t have to worry about them only installing a coaster every year to try to outpace another park. We actually get other decent rides and experiences. KI actually has a “feel” to it. Always have, always will.

Cedar Point has something that KI will never have. And that's Lake Erie.

I think it's tough to say KI is better than CP. They are just different. They each thrive in their own way. One is regional, one is a destination. Apples to oranges.

  9. They will use one of the names for the coaster and the other for the new bathrooms.

It's going to be heavily themed bathrooms. They waited so long, they might as well go all out.

Worlds first enclosed Giga. Just one long tunnel with LED stars.

It would be like a faster Tron Lightcycle Power Run coaster at Shanghai Disneyland.

I think you're on to something....

Most people that go to KI aren’t enthusiasts, and they’re the ones who bring in all the money

I guess, in a roundabout sort of way, that was one of the points I was trying to make.

This is the pettiest thing I’ve ever seen haha. He forgot an A. Please don’t police the forum. Leave that up to the mods. They’ll let someone know when something is wrong. It’s not your business.

For real though. Who does that? I happen to be a college-educated man. I just made a spelling error from my phone nonetheless.

Back on topic. I believe this new ride will be of the more crowd-pleasing variety. Then again, CF surprised me with Leviathan. So I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just hope they add some unique elements that might surprise me. Little pops of air that are unexpected, really make a ride great in my opinion.

If the ride ends up being a taller version of DB, I would say that it would be a massive disappointing to the enthusiast community.

I am an enthusiast (or rather, an "enthusist," as you say), and I enjoy Diamondback immensely.

Generally speaking, I think a lot of people on this website as a whole need to stop making sweeping generalizations like the one I quoted.

Thank you for pointing out my grammatical error. I'm not sure it needed to be mocked though.

Anyway, I agree that it was a rather sweeping generalization. I did it to prove a point. Maybe I am a different kind of enthusiast. I am not knocking or discounting rides like MF or DB. I'm just saying that they are not cutting-edge. They are great, appeal-to-the-masses, types of coasters.

They are great in a financial sense for parks due to high capacity, high reliability, and just plain "fun" rides.  However, like stated in my previous post, they are not in that next-level category, in my opinion.

I305 doesn't even make the top 10 in most steel coaster lists. Diamondback is usually ahead of it too. This KI coaster will exceed I305.

Which is ridiculous. I305 is cutting-edge and intense. Floater air and wide, drawn-out, banking turns are crowd pleasers and that's it. Sure, they are fun, but for an enthusiast, mediocre at best.

MF is consistently in the top 10 steel coasters, but come on, we all know (as coaster enthusiast) that there are much better rides out there. It appeals to the masses. And again, I'm not saying MF is bad, I really enjoy the ride. It just doesn't have that "next level" intensity to it.

RMC rides, I305, and other rides along those lines are the ones that get you coming back for more and more.

^What about I305, since it’s the shortest gigacoaster at 5,100 feet? Does it give great rides? Asking because I’ve never been on it.

Unfortunately, this giga will be nothing like I305. That ride is INCREDIBLE. It's out of this world (Orion/Polaris? Lol).

I would be so stoked if it was an I305-type giga, even if it was 4000 ft long. I305 is Maverick meets Millennium Force. It doesn't get much better than that.

Unfortunately, that type of giga doesn't seem to be in B&Ms portfolio.

my only complaint with mystic is how short it is. other than that i could literally ride it all day.

That's why SV is the best ride in the world. It never let's up AND it's an incredibly long ride.

I fully expect this to be where our RMC goes in a few years.

Could you imagine Beast as an RMC? MY GOD, that would be insane...

I know the traditionalists and the nostalgic folks would be up in arms, but you can't ignore how awesome it could be. It would be like Outlaw Run on steroids.

If you think Levi is a decent coaster/ waste of money, you've clearly never rode it haha. It's an elite coaster, better than MF and was ranked #8 in the golden ticket awards (idc about this but others do). So yeah, if KI gets Leviathan 2.0, don't complain.

I didnt have any expectations for Leviathan when I rode it. I thought it would be a fun ride but nothing worthy of my top 10. IT BLEW ME AWAY. One of the most surprisingly fun rides I have ever been on.

Anything in the ballpark of Leviathan would be a very welcome edition.

That was Intamin.   They are normally lower in quality to B&M.   Plus they went cheap on I305 and built it low to the ground which makes it neck snapping and gray out inducing

Raging Bull is a great ride.

Low quality? I wouldn't say that at all. Intamin has always pushed the limits. I wouldn't call that low quality. Sure, they have reliability issues, but I305 is one of the best coasters I have ever been on. I never got a chance to ride or before the modification but now it's absolutely phenomenal.

As far as Raging Bull is concerned, I personally have never been on it but I have heard that it is very boring. Again, can't speak from experience on that one.
