    Quickie Trip 8/24

I was really happy we got so many rides in too, and we're going to go back soon, and of course for the Haunt. On the way home, I asked Tom what ride he thought was the most rough(excluding Invertigo because I already knew it jogged his head) and his answer was Adventure Express. We had ridden an Arrow Mine Train at Six Flags St Louis, and it wasn't as rough as AE. I found it great that he didn't find the woodies rough like many! deb
  2. I wanted to get to KI in time to see the WindSeeker announcement, but other people try to control our lives... so it was WAY late before we got there. We finally go to KI at around 5:30. Yes, 5:30 on a day that they close at 8. I was disappointed, figuring I'd only get to ride a couple of coasters and then that'd be it. I couldn't have been more wrong! I had Tom with me(my new love), he's from Tennessee, and has only heard about KI through me, so there was a lot of hype for it to live up to(and I think it did). Utilizing the start on one side and work your way around method, we started with Diamondback. It was walk on. Great smooth ride, and the weather was great. Since we were thinking we were short on time, we went to The Beast next. It too was walk-on. We were on and off in about 8 minutes, and heading for BLSC. It too was walk on, and Tom liked the launch. From there, we went to Vortex, also a walk-on, and got a great ride in 5-1, and I'm glad Tom enjoyed it, as we didn't have the headbanging you get from other seats. We went on around Coney Mall, and next was Firehawk, which surprisingly was also walk-on... We waited on train because I wanted to be on one of the ends(I like the loop when you are on the ends because you can see the other end of the train!). Tom liked it, thought it was very interesting. From there we had a walk-on onto Flight of Fear. We got in, sat down, and strapped in. That's when I told Tom that it went upside down. He looked at me, and said: "But there's nothing to hold us in!" I laughed, and told him we'd be fine, but I believe he was unprepared for the total darkness of FoF. The ride was fantastic, although the mid-brake was a full stop. We got off FoF and walked up to Racer, running only the red train, and waited a train to get the front seat. After Racer, we walked around to Adventure Express(which I had completely forgotten in my schpiel about the coasters to Tom), and also was a walk-on. We then took the 8,000 mile trek back to Top.. Flight Deck, and waited one train because I REFUSE to ride my favorite coaster anywhere but the front seat. The only coaster we hadn't rode was Invertigo, and it was last in the work my way around method. We got in line, and decided we'd go forward first(I hate that dangling feeling when you go backward first, just before the second drop), and when we got off, Tom was a little disoriented.. Apparently the forces had popped a joint in his neck.. but he's ok. We checked the time, it was about 10 mins until 8. So we bee-lined for Diamondback, because I wanted Tom to get the 100% air feeling of being in the very back seat. We were walking up the steps when the ops said they would only be sending two more trains, making our train the last of the night(I've never gotten the final train on ANY ride, ever, so I'm still excited!). We got in line and I recognized Adam, and then there were a couple of other KICers.. markhudson(iirc...) and pkiboy possibly? I spoke to everyone after the ride and then we headed home. Great quick trip after all, even though I thought I wasn't going to get to ride everything. And it was great meeting some other KICers! deb ride count: DB:2 Beast:1 Vortex:1 BLSC:1 Racer:1 Firehawk:1 FoF:1 AE:1 Invertigo:1 FD:1 (not too shabby for 2.5 hours!)
  3. I went back in May, and I was thoroughly impressed with The Boss, once it opened(it was closed a good 1/2 of the day). We even got a front seat night ride on it! I also like Tony Hawk's Big Spin, was my first coaster of its kind, love that each ride is different. I did not ride Mr. Freeze, and I sorta regret it. I'm not a 90 degree kinda girl, and that's why I didn't ride it. After I got home and saw all it's records, I realized I had made a mistake. Maybe I'll get to go back and ride it later. deb
  4. I went to Haunt last year, and I had fun (my first Haunt), with the exception of FREEZING my tail off! Anyway, had I saw the dead celeb skeletons, it would have made it SO much more fun! Those were fantastic! Kudos to whomever came up with the idea, and whomever had the idea for that great publicity stunt! I just wish I had seen them in person. deb
  5. On most coasters I like the front seat, I like to see the track going up(fear of heights). On Firehawk, it's almost the same everywhere, but I try to go either front or back, because I like to be able to see the riders at the other end in the loop... Top Gu.. ER, Flight Deck(ugh) I always ride front, because that is the best ride, imo. I guess I'm tall enough to hold myself straight and not get head banging on Vortex, from any seat. As for The Beast, I always ride front or middle. Diamondback, I usually take what I can get, but the back is wicked! Talk about a different kinda coaster ride, nothing but air!(It was my first B&M) deb
  6. my fav coaster is and always will be Top Gun. As for flat, Tomb Raider(as tomb raider) will forever be missed... I could ride it all day long, no stops! And water, WWC, there's no point(imo) to getting "sorta wet", its all or nothing for me! I don't mind drop zone, I'll ride it. You will NOT get me on Delirium again... 2 times was 3 times too many! deb
  7. ah, the zipper. I was about 8 the first time I rode it. No, the ONLY time. I've got this thing, if it makes me hurl, I'm not riding it again! I was with 2 cousins, one crying hysterically and the other laughing and making the bucket spin... (stomach churns thinking about it)... but it's still dynamic to look at. deb
  8. Everytime I've went and got a night ride on The Beast, I'd head that way at 9:30, regardless of where I was in the park, or if I'd just gotten off another ride, head over there, then. Dark is, well, dark, and a night ride is a night ride, although I guess if you're looking for the final train of the night... I always liked to be close enought to the front of the queque so that when they shut down for fireworks, I could sit down(yeah, gross prob, but hey, I'd been on my feet for nearly 12 hours!). deb
  9. For paint, I went with Invertigo.. as it's simply impossible to walk by it and not gawk, and nearly everyone does... For structure, hands down is SoB. I get that some people think performance into structure, but were talking beauty... and that coaster is one the most beautiful structures I've ever seen, and I've been around... deb
  10. ok. So I gotta say: why WOULD they change the trains? I mean sure, interest, ride count, etc, but it is now one of a kind- the only one left(I think...) and wouldn't they want to preserve it, as is? Just think about it. If Camden Park had gotten new trains for The Big Dipper, then would it be what it is now? I was only there maybe 5 times total, and really, I have great memories becauses the part we see the longest(for the most part), the trains we sit in/on, were unlike any other I'd ever seen/rode. Granted, many people will think that changing it would make it better, etc, but someone also thought changing the name to "Flight Deck" would make it...(insert word here), and most people still call it Top Gun(including me). I'm just saying. and for the record, your professors(and mine) don't tell you to NEVER USE WIKIPEDIA because it's got the most reliable information. deb
  11. This is VERY different. Not that I don't like it, different is good(with the exception of taking out Spongebob and Scooby for some other dog my kids don't know but that's for another thread). Sure it will take some getting used to, but we will. Will there be skin plug ins where we can alter the colors/etc to our liking? That'd be the only thing I'd want. Thanks guys for the server move! deb
  12. nice Evanescence Font on your sig.. I like it! \m/

  13. I initally stated this wasn't very good. However, I got to see it again Sat at midnight, and it was like a whole different show. The effects were all dead on, blood, everything, and it made the show much much better. I enjoyed it, even though it's not my kinda music. deb
  14. I've already touched on this in my TR thread, which I'm sure I'm the only one that read.. I didn't like Hot Blooded. Not that the chicks weren't hot, the sex was implied.. but I'm not convinced that it takes 8 women to take down 3 men for dinner, if my count was right. I am just not very into the 80s thing. Some of these songs were so very much contrived and I saw them coming miles away. The water wall thingy was cool, I even thought it was gonna be good when the lead guy "flew" in. Sure, it held my attention, only because I happen to like scantily clad girls, and Club Blood was great in giving me that. Hot Blooded, not so much. But then again, I don't scare easily if at all, and I prefer tool to foreigner... and if any of maynard's music was in a crap show that I thought it was, he'd kill someone (look up tool if you are unclear of who maynard is). And I'd probably hand him the knife. just an opinion, each got one. I did love hearing classic Zombie and Manson... wish it were season-round. deb
  15. I have never been to a haunt, or anything of the like since I don't like haunted houses. I like fast rides and no brakes. But I got more than I bargained for on Friday night... We arrived late, with the intent of renew passes (who can pass that up?!?!?), and found once we went back to the Nick store that there was no debit. Not a single dime... And I'd already seen the No re-entry after 7 sign... But I guess we're either credible or scary, because they let me stay at guest relations while he went back to get said debit. Got it, went to Nick store, renew, off to DB, took about 4 mins (mostly walking the pathway), great ride, went off to The Beast... sat behind this little blonde boy who screamed to high heavens and like a little girl... it was HILARIOUS! Finally decided to go to FH, which I did not get to ride either day due to being down... went to Death Row... I loved it. I do not scare, at all... ever. So I wasn't scared, that ?#$& was FUN! Until someone pulled the fire alarm and we got booted. I wanted to catch Hot Blooded... It was mediocre at best. I do not believe it deserved a R rating... I saw more skin at BB in the summer. I liked Club Blood, simply for the last scene, which was 2 chicks, and every boys' (most) fantasy... but second time around on sat, only one chick. And I saw about 5 ghouls on sat... whereas on friday they were everywhere! That's about it, with the exception of getting a ride op to hop onto Diamondback after 1 am on sat with us... I look forward to more gore. deb
  16. We were there Thursday and Friday, and here's what I saw: makes me sad deb
  17. Last summer I lost an AASi (AA= moderate color, Si= slightly included) pear shaped Tanzanite stone from a ring last summer at Boomerang Bay. Man was I miffed! Tanzanite is more expensive than diamonds, of ANY color... And the first time I got a back seat on Diamondback, my husband lost his indestructible (water, dirt, etc) cell phone... We sometimes see an orange phone in the acrylic box... but my bets are on it being in the splashdown, prob still working...... deb

    July 18

Ok, short and sweet. We got there at 3 ish. Went straight to Diamondback, had a 2 hour wait (the line was in front of Rivertown Junction store).. Waded through the mess anyway, only to get seat 13. 13 is bad luck for me. Nothing happened, so maybe it was a fluke. Then we went to Beast, and it was prob 2 or more hours on it. Then we stopped and got some FABULOUS fries and a drink. Decided to go to BLSC, again, a good hour 1/2 wait. We seperated paths then, so I just went and rode stuff I don't normally get to ride. I wanted a night ride on Vortex, but the line was back to the Juke Box Cafe. Then I saw Shake Rattle And Roll was farely unlined, so I waited through 2 cycles, while the fireworks went boom. Once I got off of there, I headed over to Diamondback for a great night ride. They'd shut down the single rider line, making me wade through all those people, until I got to where I could SEE the single rider line, which had apparently been reopened. Anyway, I got seat 9, with a stranger. And it was hilarious. There was a lady behind me, who screamed "H*ly Sh*t Balls" on every hill. I was in hysterics! I forgot to let you guys know I also rode Adventure Express, it was in great form at night. I got on Top Gun (owtf, Flight Deck... and it looks like someone tried to pull the sticker off the train! GO TOP GUN FIGHTER!!!!!), and also The Racer. The op was saying that The Racer went 61 mph. It sure felt like it (was AWESOME for whatever reason). I checked the site it says 53.3. hmmmm, maybe no trims? Which I loathe on Diamondback! caio deb

    Flying Objects

my hubby lost his indestructible phone on Diamondback on thursday. it was in his reg pocket, not the cargo, I asked him to hold my shades, and because they were in his cargo pocket and not his phone, poof! outta pocket. Had we been in any other seat wouldn't happened. we were in the back, and it's airtime city. and he felt it leave his pocket the SECOND it happened. deb

    Son Of Beast

we went last thursday, had a walk-on for front seat, ride was woodie typical. went again on saturday, waited 30ish mins, and I'm still in pain and I was in the second seat of the first car. I'd lay $ on there being a split beam again. deb
  21. We left IN at about 3 pm. Had to make some pit stops along the way, finally got to KI at about 7. Waited in pass processing until 8, then wanted to head straight to DB, but the line was in full queue, so we opted for something else. We got in line for Backlot Stunt Coaster, realizing that it's almost always our first coaster of the season, and waited prob 45 mins. Then we went over to Vortex, which had a line all the way back to Shake Rattle and Roll... took about 30 minutes to get to the station. Had a decent ride, somewhere in the middle. Got off and walked over to Firehawk, wanting a night ride on it, but it had technical difficulties and it had been closed. We walked back (I was roasting) and stood in line for Zephyr (all the while my husband complaining that he was waiting for the swings...), had a nice cooling ride on it, then I decided I wanted a night ride on my favorite coaster, Top... errr Flight Deck (man I loathe that name), waited for the front seat, had an amazingly fast and superior ride on it, then got off and started to walk towards the exit. It was nearly 10, but my husband wanted to ride Drop Tower (I didn't, I was getting a headache), so I sat down, watched the fireworks while he rode DT, and then we headed to our motel. Sunday morning I awoke at 7ish, and got dressed for a full day. We loaded up and headed out to KI at about 8:30. We got to the park at 9ish, got a PERFECT parking spot, and sat there for a bit, waiting until it was closer to 9:30 to go line up. We walked up, got our passes scanned, then showed the gold and headed to DB. When we got there, there was about 60 or so people in front of us, and an op saying the ride was down, had no clue when it'd be up, feel free to go to The Beast, etc etc etc. We opted to stay in line, so as to not miss our first ride on DB. About 4 mins later, the op opened the gate and through the queue we went. We were standing on the stairs when we first had to stop. Then we made it up, and we got on the third train of the day. I've gotta say, it was AMAZING! I can only wait until I ride it again, so I can see everything, as I had my eyes closed for a good half of the ride, due to having no expectations from riding it before. Next time I'll be wide open for all 3 mins! When we got off, it was still before 10, so we walked onto a ride on The Beast, we even waited a cycle for the front seat. I think it was the first time I'd been in the front, and it too was fantastic! By this time, the GP was lurking, so we walked over to Firehawk to get a ride on it. We waited about 20 mins or so, and rode the yellow train. When we got off, I wanted to ride FoF, he wasn't too happy about it, but I got my ride, anyway. He was itching to go to BB (only reason he even goes to KI), so I begged for a ride on Invertigo. We got on, I rode forward first (which I never do) and had a great "new" ride experience. I wanted to go up Eiffel, so we went up and I looked at DB in all it's glory. We went out to the truck to eat, then went to BB. We walked up to Snowy River, waited about 30 mins, got off, then my bandaids and gauze began to come off... (I had bad blisters from the day before) so I took off the bandaids and we waded through the kiddie pool on the way to the wave pool. Some other people were leaving and they gave us their cots. We stretched out, and I think we both fell asleep... I got burned. We awoke, I saw the time (around 6) and we thought about going to Typhoon, but the line was very long and we were dry... so we caught the train back to rivertown. He had wanted to go onto WWC, but didn't want to get wet again. We got some fab fries in rivertown, then walked up to the front. I neglected to say before, but we got trapped in by the ASA thing, both times we wanted to go out to the truck. We went out at 7 with the intention of going back, but by the time we got out there, we were ready for the road. We got home at around 10. deb
  22. We got in for an ERT on Sunday at around 9:20 (when we stacked the line), an op told us that it was down, indefinitely. While we were in the truck, waiting to walk up, we could see the test runs, and the train got stopped at the top of the lift hill. When the op told us about the technical issue, there also was a train stopped at the top of the lift hill. They decided to let us into the queue, and we got to see the train go over the hill. The next train was loaded, no problems. We were on the third train of the day. It was all much faster than I expected, and we got to ride DB and The Beast all before the park was officially open. deb
  23. I also got the text! Wow, these photos are AMAZING! I can't wait to ride it... although I'm sure I'll be very apprehensive about it... it's the whole scared of heights thing. *shrug* deb
  24. I completely forgot what everyone was talking about when Terpy said he got pooped on by seagulls.... what were we talking about? Was it important?? Darnit, my blonde roots are showing again! Poop. deb
