  1. You get in to any Cedar Fair park. Last year I went to Cedar Point and worlds of fun.. which wasnt really that much fun lol.
  2. They recorded this in june.. It took a long time to get the camera strapped in, lol. I didnt get to see it on tv, but I will record the next when it comes on.
  3. The guide on the parks site has not been updated for the 2008 season, and does not include the dramatic changes that were made (which mainly involves the boarding pass). Your best bet is to check with Guest Relations and make sure that there is no conflict, because it all depends on the type of cast that you have. I believe the rule is that aslong as it can properly fit in the restraint, and also does not obstruct the restraint, you *should* be okay.
  4. I think many people will be supprised at how smooth the Red Racer is now. I sure was! The red train in the picture quoted above is missing the "Red Racer" logo.. Those are pretty sweet. The seat belts are a little different, the buckle is now in the ceter, and there is a loop that ride associates are now required to check physically, instead of visually like last year. The station still has the Red / Blue storage bins, but thats not a big deal at all. The park opens one week from today... Hope to see everyone there!
  5. Rumor has it that not all of the track on the former backwards racer has been retracked. Also... Last year when I was sent to racer (which was not much, lol), I'd try to make them race as much as possible, because thats the purpose of the ride.. That's not always possible though. Unfortunatly there are times when you just have to dispatch, racing or not. Usually if theres a long hight checking delay, or a issue with loading [or unloading for that matter], you just have to move on and continue doing your job.. I understand that it sucks not to race, believe me, I don't like it either, but like I said, delays do happen. I do believe that this year you will see a lot more racing with change. They have really good supervisors there that will do a great job! Hope everyone is excited to go to the park on april 20th!
  6. It's funny that you mention those names, because I was reading the same thing about the red/blue names. Will we see them return in April? Who knows!
  7. I'm really excited about cinnabon... lol...
  8. This year only the person with the pass, and one.. I did say one, other person can join along.. Still, you will want to contact guest relations, as they will tell you about the policy.. If the wait is more than 30 minutes, you'll have to get the attractions boarding passed (that you got from guest relations) signed by the ride opperator (either at the greeter booth, or in the station).. Still kinda confused on this part, but I *think* there is also a line pass that you can have your party wait in line, and then you get your boarding pass signed, and then the times should work out to where you can ride together.. I'm unsure about that part, but I do know that the Boarding pass is for the person who it was issued to, plus ONE other. Like I also said, be sure to call guest relations before your trip.. They can explain it and help you out more than anyone. Hope you have a great time at the park this year! Can't wait to ride some rides again!
  9. Go to guest relations as soon as you get to the park, or call ahead. They will work with you to assist you with the Attractions Boarding Pass.. You will need this to use the special entrances to rides for people with disibilities (if the wait time allows for such). The rules/accomodations have changed a bit since last year.
  10. Anything is possible especially with the season starting soon... Can't wait to see the good ole' red and blue trains race again this season!
  11. Rides are closed due to many factors in the weather. If the weather effects the braking power, then rides usually go down just as a precaution.
  12. I'll be there, whether im working or not.
  13. Last August was when I first started at Kings Island, and I loved it! You'll get to meet a lot of new people, including amazing co-workers and guests. I love my job and I love helping people.. So I take it that you live in dayton as well 2BMasterofK.I._29? Everyone says im crazy for driving down there to work... but its not really that far and gas doesn't really bother me.. I drive a SUV that gets 18MPG on the highway! :/. Im working at Firehawk again this year.
  14. Drop Tower didn't spin for the last few weeks of operation. I can't remember if it was in late august or september, but somewhere around that time. Hopefully it will spin again this year, but only time will tell!
  15. Welp I wasn't a member in 2006 but my favorite ride (with the options of the time period) would probably be Vortex. You have to love the old threads!

    Vortex

That is correct. It is almost impossible to get out of a restraint on Firehawk when the restraint is on and locked (the train wont dispatch if something isnt locked). Unless there is a HUGE gap between you and the lap bar, you shouldnt have anything to worry about. Also, the vests tighten up and the buckles lock with the embarking button on the seat is pushed.. Some people freak out and may feel like they can get out, but it is a really complicated process to do, especially if you are restrained correctly.. I have never seen any outragous gaps between anyone, and like The Interpreter said, the only way your restraints can unlock on FH is if A) The train is rising in the station or battery packs packs are used. In my opinion, it is one of the safest rides in the park... But thats just personal opinion. On Vortex, the only way the restraints can be "released" is if its in the station and the operator unlocks it, or if the foot pedal is held down on the side to manually unlock each car.. I have seen people who can take their arms out of the restraint on Vortex (put them by their body), but I would never recomend doing that.. The items are there for your protection and you should respect them.. I know some of this may been have been discussed already, but the point is still there. Whether you actually wear them or not, the point is that you really should be. Just wanted to emphasize that the rides at Kings Island are safe.
  17. wow, wasn't wanting to make this big of a deal out of it.. Sorry to those I offended, that was not the purpose behind it. Anyways, dropping it. Firehawk, As far as I know everyone should be getting one but I'd probably contact HR when they open on the 14th.. I live in Dayton, and I drive a SUV (ford explorer... yeah, not the best on gas). I'm content with the gas cost, even if I have to work about 3 hours to cover the cost of my gas to and from work for that day. Everyone says I'm crazy for doing it, but I love my job and the people I work with.. So in the end it's worth it to me. It boils down to if you think its really worth it or not, but a drive from indiana would get so boring every day! I know it takes me anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes to get to work depending on what day, what time, and how bad traffic is. I'm excited about the new season, and seeing everyone again, and the new people that come. Hopefully we have some supprises to look forward too!
  18. I'm not trying to be rude, but jacksonpki, if you have nothing important to post on a topic... don't post. I'm not trying to step on any mods or admins turf. Maybe its the fact that im used to other online communies being way more strict, lol. To answer the other question, rides, admissions, and lifegaurds all got the same letter.. (well, judgeing by how it shows returners pay rate for all 3 of those sections, I assume so.) Most departments will probably send one out, because they ask for you to re-apply. Can't wait to see everyone back this year!
  19. That doesn't mean that they are doing terribly bad.. There's many factors that go with that. Yeah, they went down, and that sucks for them, but the factors you have to take in are some listed below. 1) How is the industry doing? 2) How is the Dow Jone's doing? 3) How's the company doing (Not only financially) 4) News involving the company / industry I personally don't think they are doing terribly too bad (look at SIX), but they arent doing good either. Not many sources of revenue this time of year, but once the season starts up and the news kicks in, the stocks will go up. Correct me when needed, I'm typing on two hours of sleep and only about a year or two of stock analysis and business, lol. To get this topic back on topic, I really don't see any type of ride coming this year, unless its something small. I'd rather have some X-Base expansion, which would include a resturant and some bathrooms. We are in serious need for some bathrooms back there!
  20. I feel you on that one. I live in Dayton and I drive a SUV so gas is a big issue for me, but its worth it because I love my job and I'm returning next year. I loved everyone I worked with. I started late in the season, but all my co-workers and supervisors were really nice and got the job done. Can't wait to go back! Happy Holidays.
  21. I'd really like to see some restrooms constructed in X-base, because the closest bathrooms are either by Bubba Gumps Shrimp shack, or Vortex.
  22. What roller coaster in your opinion had its best year ever? I'd say a tie between Son of best and Firehawk. SOB is now smoother and more enjoyable (even though I loved it before).. And Firehawk grew more reliable over this season! What thrill ride in your opinion had its best year ever? I'd probably say that Delirium has had its best year! What restaurant had the best food? I'd say a tie between Panda Express and Potato works(?) in rivertown.. (if that's the name of it!) What crew/area was best? To be biased, I'd say Firehawk.. But my unbiased pick would probably be Ecology or Vortex / shake rattle and roll. Did Son of Beast have its Best Year Ever? explain why or why not. I personally think so. Even after the incident last year, ridership was still good, ride experience was improved, and even though capacity was down, it's still one of the great rides you can only experience at King's Island! What new show in 2007 was the best in your opinion? I didn't really get to see any, but as far as guests have talked about and as far as I've seen (videos online and walking by..) Dead Awakening was very good! What was the best thing that happened this year at Kings Island? I'd say the park is MUCH cleaner, Firehawk was a great addition, SOB re-opened, and Halloween Haunt was a big success in my opinion! What change from 2006 to 2007 was the best? The introduction of the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass :-p.. But as far as Kings Island, it had a much better attitude when you walked in (for me atleast) and the park was much cleaner. Did Kings Island Central have its best year ever? This is my first year here, so I can't really say. But sure! It's been a pretty big year for you guys! Congrats.
  23. Firehawk typically has atleast a hour wait during the first few hours and it usually gets up to a hour and a half to two hours... Normally the line dies a little after midnight though. I've heard that other rides have had (possibly) up to a 30 minute wait (during the day. I'm sure its the same if not more at night).. But there are A LOT of people at KI on saturdays.. And when I say a lot, I mean its really crowded. Sundays are the day to go, but the only problem is that Halloween Haunt isnt on Sundays, Nick-or-Treat is though. (I've hurd some guests waited in line for the haunted attractions up to two hours!) Hope you enjoy your visit. There's no Re-entry after 7pm.
  24. About 38 miles.. I live in dayton.. It's not a long drive, especially since I'm used to it now.

    why?

I rode it a monday that they changed the rule. First time I rode it in the morning, they told us to put lose atricles in the bin. Later on, an employee in a suit came out of no where and told the ops that you must take everything on the ride. What would happen if you were in the rosebowl. and a purse (or anything else) accidently fell out? they already sent the other train out of the station by the time you get back, and there is no E-brake before the rosebowl.. So.. does this mean an accident? I would bet so. I can't control how others secure their articles. Maybe locker rental sales are down?
