  1. I love that idea! That would be so fun and interesting.
  2. It was played on WCET or now CET. It is a documentary that is packed full of old footage. If you haven't seen it, it is worth seeing for any amusement park fan. Especially because it explains how it developed (Coney Island amusement park) and then how and why the decision was made to move the "New Park" to Warren county. Then King's Island was born. It is very interesting. I believe it was made in 1986. If anyone has seen it (especially those in the Cincinnati, northern Kentucky area) what are your thoughts? It was the beginning of my love for researching amusement park history.
  3. I think one of (many) I have heard was quite odd. When I was in grade school, I recall hearing about someone falling out of the Screamin Demon then landing on the bottom of the loop then the person was run over by the train. Very odd. Has anyone else heard this? Very odd, because that would defy physics in so many ways. The victim would have to have initiated enough force to overcome angular momentum, then overpower the effect and derivative calculus of the velocity of falling objects versus a vehicle that's presently subject to centrifugal and other forces, and even if this did happen, the lateral wind speed or some other force would have to push him back onto the track, which would be offset to allow for the loop. I think you're trying to squeeze way to many big words into a rather simple explination. Please explain what you mean by then they would have to "derivative calculus of the velocity of falling objects," derivative of velocity is acceleration but unless you're talking about the acceleration due to gravity, which is already widely given that doesn't really apply. Also "derivative calculus" is not a verb. Basically, as long as the centripetal force through the loop (which is defined by the weight, velocity of the train, and radius of loop) is greater than that of gravity, the person could not fall out. In addition, assuming they were wearing a restraint, its is nearly impossible for them to fall out. However if it were the case that gravity was stronger and the person was able to fall out, the lateral force from the loop moving to one side, would likely be enough force to have the rider land on the track rather than between them. Somewhere there is a thread describing loop physics... Either way in short, no that did not happen. I didn't ask if this actually occurred, I asked if anyone HAD heard this silly story.
  4. O.K, thank you for answering my question.

  6. I couldn't agree more! I wasn't born yet for the canoe ride, but I remember the rest. By the way, I know of course everybody loves The Beast. They chose a wonderful spot to build it on but, when the canoe ride was there....what did you really do except paddle around? Not to sound rude but they called that a ride? Was it there from 72-75?
  7. That is great footage. It brought back a lot of memories. I miss that ride. I have said that so much, but I do miss it. However, I love The Vortex. Not a shabby replacement. I want to go to KI soon. I need a KI day.
  8. Alright, at your request I shall keep it to 1. Sorry for any offense. I was just taken with the video.
  9. That was REALLY cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was how The Bat flew. Ahhhh, good times!!!!!!!
  10. Oh, that's just terrible! That was a fun ride! You are saying that they just let it go to @$#*??????????? That sucks! KI should have kept The Screamin Demon. Maybe they should have had an "old time ride area" then if they thought they had to scrap a ride, they could stick it in that area. I think they would be surprised as to how many people would hang out in the "old rides" area. The Zodiac, Screamin Demon, Bavarian Beetle, flying eagles, der spinnin' keggers, the flying Dutchman, Ferris Wheel, Les Taxis, and the Animal Safari. The "Old Ride Area" that is what they should have done. It might sound goofy, but that's what I wish they had done. I am just running on. I just miss those rides. Awwwww...................... I don't like rides to be demolished. Sad. I agree, it is shameful that Screamin Demon was treated poorly.

    Racer

The Backward racer is my favorite! You can't see where you are going and that makes it all the better. I have a fantasy that one day The Beast will go backward. Yes, I know it won't that's why its a fantasy. Oh, but could you imagine??????? I love going backwards, sideways, upside down, staying upside down............................Gosh, I miss KI these days. They better leave what is great ALONE!!!!! Well that's just what I hope for, leaving the backward Racer as is. I hope the Interpreter is right on target.
  13. What a lovely picture. I LOVE this picture. I don't care for the trampolines though.....they waste space. Sorry that's just my opinion. They could put a nice flat ride there. Breath taking picture of John Allen's Racer though. Aaaawwwww........so pretty!
  14. Oops. I missed what you wrote. It was yellow then, sorry I asked what color it originally was.
  15. In that case, I will refuse to call it by any other name than Scooby Doo! But seriously, Jackson is correct, the tunnel was removed when it became Fairly Oddcoaster. I guess since it was no longer in The Beast family they decided to remove it. It will always be the "Scooby Doo to me! I loved that when I was little. Then it turned to The Beastie...... same coaster, new tunnel, different name.......I liked it. But now they removed the tunnel? End of an era. Sigh BTW....What was the original color of the Scooby Doo? Was it yellow? I want to say it was, however I'm not sure.
  16. Gosh that's really a shame. I can't fathom how much they must have spent on TR....so far.
  17. I finally had a chance to see it...and in motion! Thanks!
  18. I love TR. I love how you stay upside down and it is scary because my hips fit through if I didn't hold on..............whoa! I love that and I laugh my head off. But if they keep having problems with it then I guess they will have to change something. BIG SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Thanks Whodey2007! Do you by any chance know who that man is talking? Is it a man who worked for Arrow? Thanks again! I throughly enjoyed my ride. It's been 20 years,
  20. Great Picture. The Racer was my first big roller coaster. Then I went on to The Bat. I loved them both..... and dang it, I was too short for The Beast. A few years later and some stuff in my reeboks and I was ready to go! The Beast is great too!
  21. Thank you for your nice words! Also thank you to the many others who have expressed some interest in my photos of the zoo. For those who have expressed interest, I have decided to post more of the photos that I have taken this year, that I like! Another Moose! Rhino ready for his close-up! Its the eye of the tiger I got extremely close to this Elephant, he sounded like a vacuum cleaner, no joke! Flying Fox!....Yes, its a bat! For my friend Ronny, haha Two Roos My mom is painting a room in our house the same colors as this bird, so I took a photo for her! I leave you with this, one of my top 5. I do not want to hijack this thread anymore, so if anyone wishes to see more, as I have about another 200, just let me know in some way, there are some more good ones! Thanks for viewing! Oh, the elephant and the roos! I can't stand it! I LOVE all of these pictures! Thanks for sharing more of the animals. I love the snakes and bats too. I have held different types of snakes but, I haven't held a bat.....YET. AAAAAwwwwwwwwww, the elephant sounded like a vacuum. They are so sweet!
  22. Why didn't arrow think of that? Well, remember this. Ron Toomer was a lazy designer. It's obvious in the horrid transitions that most arrows have. Not to mention, he basically bent a coat hanger and said wow, I designed a loop. Aaawwwww, that's sad. It sounds as though he didn't think too clearly. SAD.
  23. Does anyone have footage of the Screamin Demon in motion? If so, could you let me know? I would love to see that like The Bat footage. I haven't ridden in a while.....LOL! Yeah, that was a really bad joke....sorry.
  24. I have trouble adjusting to. That old footage was great. I have a question.....was that the Bavarian Beetle that they were riding (looked kind of like a wild mouse ride)? The Bat footage was great too. It would swing so far out, that was such a great ride.....when it was working. Thanks for sharing! I didn't know that youtube had that stuff.
  25. Wow, KI owns all of that? Also to the far upper right...are you saying that those are King Cobra tracks? I did not know that they had that much land. In this case, why do they take out rides to put up new ones? Leave the old rides ALONE and use that space then, dang man!
