  1. I like this idea. No matter what the theme or the cuisine, all I ask is any new restaurant have: at least some indoor seating a menu created by Chef Major
  2. Can confirm. On most of my rides today I didn’t notice the trim at all.
  3. The most airtime of any gigacoaster in Ohio is in Mason. I’m no fanboy but MF is better.
  4. I agree that row 1 is best. Also rode in 3,4, 7 and 8–I think.
  5. I personally didn’t notice any airtime there, but I did get airtime on every hill after. Even a little pop up to the brake run.
  6. I loved Orion. it had more airtime than I expected and maintained its speed all the way until the end. Obviously I wish it were about 1000 feet longer, but it’s great to have a giga coaster at Kings Island.
  7. You may recall that the red Racer was shown going backwards in some of the initial Orion promotional artwork the park released.
  8. The teaser campaign for Banshee started on opening day 2013. The teaser campaign for Mystic Timbers began on passholder preview night.
  9. Both Banshee and Mystic Timbers were announced at events open to the public in the evening. Banshee was announced on 8/8/2013. Mystic Timbers was announced on 7/28/2016. Expect the announcement for this coaster to happen in either late July or early August.
  10. Not sure that would provide enough current. According to this https://www.coaster101.com/2016/07/20/coasters-101-launch-coasters-store-energy/, a regular lift hill motor works on about 200 amps while a launch could use up to 4000 amps. That also explains more about how various launches work such as Thunderbird, Incredible Hulk’s original launch, TTD and Lightning Rod.
  11. A full year before other construction began on Thunderbird, Holiday World needed to have a new electrical substation installed at the park to provide power for that coaster’s launch. It’s possible Kings Island already has that type of infrastructure in place with Flight of Fear being nearby, but any big new electrical equipment being installed could be an indication that KI’s new coaster will include a launch.
  12. Ride designers can't ignore what their customers (the parks) ask for. I'm sure Cedar Fair told RMC to go wild with Steel Vengeance, but on some rides (GateKeeper for example), B&M was told to make the maneuvers bigger to make them more comfortable for guests.
  13. There were Diamondback footings in along the midway Rivertown (near the antique photo store) that were poured prior to opening day 2008. So, I agree this is a slightly later start than the park's existing B&M coasters.
  14. This makes sense if you believe the rumor that Kings Island is getting this coaster using cap ex money Cedar Fair had originally budgeted for CGA's hypercoaster.
  15. Great find, but I don't think it has anything to do with the new coaster. Those css classes have been in that file since at least last September. https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.visitkingsisland.com/css/screen.css
  16. You can. http://blog.livestream.com/blog/2015/4/9/cast-away-with-livestream-and-chromecast LiveStream is a top notch service for online streaming video. It looks like their app also can AirPlay to Apple TV and works with Roku.
  17. Isn't it safe to assume that if the park is directing traffic to the page on LiveStream and not mentioning YouTube that it won't be streaming the announcement on YouTube?
  18. Kudos to Don for his professionalism (as always) in this post. I would have used that opportunity for a Rick Roll.
  19. True. Parks usually time their announcements to be right before construction that obviously reveals what the coaster will be begins. Track for Banshee showed up in the days following KI's announcement. Holiday World timed their announcement of Thunderbird to be the night before the first track pieces were scheduled to arrive. The first pieces of Valravn's track arrived at Cedar Point just a day or two after the originally scheduled announcement.
  20. Someone should tell Six Flags that and get the ball rolling on removing every single RMC install and replacing them with gigas at all of their parks. Also, Worlds of Fun's Prowler beat the taller, faster Diamondback in the 2009 Golden Ticket Awards. Not saying those awards are meaningful or anything (they aren't)... You mean the Golden Joke Awards? Yes, that is what I think of them. Oh, and this year they are being held at CP. I would put money that "SHOCKER" Valravn wins best new ride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I won't defend the Golden Ticket Awards, but it's not a fait accompli that Valravn will win best new ride just because Cedar Point is hosting the awards this year. Only twice in the past 10 years (2006 Voyage and 2012 Wild Eagle) has the park hosting the Golden Ticket Awards also been the site of the Best New Ride. Second and more importantly, Cedar Point has upset many of the entitled enthusiasts who vote on the Golden Ticket Awards by not inviting enthusiasts to Valravn media day and with the changes being made to Coaster Mania.
  21. The band organ sounds awesome! Thank you so much for bringing it back to life. Thanks also to Kings Island for understanding the importance of "little things" like music that make a guest's experience at the park complete.
  22. I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone know any details?
  23. The trademark for Gatekeeper was filed on August 13, 2012 which was the same date as the announcement of the coaster at Cedar Point. http://www.trademarkia.com/Gatekeeper-85702268.html
  24. Looks like the deal is off: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100406/BIZ/4070314/1055/NEWS/Kings+Island+parent+ends+takeover+bid
  25. Not sure how much (if any) impact this work will have on getting into and out of Kings Island, but yesterday construction work began on Kings Island drive between Western Row Road and Kings Center Drive. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100329/NEWS01/3300317/1168/NEWS0101/Kings+Island+Drive+work+begins
