  1. i dont know about after they are on the ride, but in the station a guy pulled out a video camera phone and they told him to put it in his pocket or that he would have to get off the ride.
  2. i would strongly object to lap belts. im pretty sure that would put a serious damper on the capacity of the ride. you always have people forgetting to put the seatbelt on, and it just takes a bit longer to check rides with seatbelts.
  3. i forget who, but someone on the other site posted about seeing them walk the track during an inspection one day.
  4. that, is plausible. although youd think someone would have spotted some activity or something by now.
  5. the investigation is closed, and has been since Wednesday.
  6. it used to be "down for maintenance". but now thats all they will say. they will not answer any questions about it. and it doesnt matter what the reasons are, they could just say it is currently down, like they do now. I know they arent going to release any info, and i dont plan for them to. I just dont like being lied to on the phone constantly over and over again.
  7. they are very strict on height requirements. i would wait. now, if you are wearing a shoe that looks thick they make you take them off to get measured anyways. even with the band, they randomly measure the kids. its a safety thing, and they dont compromise. they also dont want someone suing saying they should not have been able to ride in the first place because they werent tall enough.
  8. @agentsob why do you think they would get a new crew to run SOB? they still have the old one. ive seen them in pieces and together at white water canyon, and more recently drop zone. I doubt they would use a different untested crew especially when the crew obviously handled the situation properly or would not still be around as crew.
  9. Firehawk is a nightmare. especially in the station. its not the heights, but the blood rushes to your head from your feet being raised when you are stuck in the laying down position giving you a serious headache.
  10. yeah, thats what i figured. it would be awesome though...
  11. im pretty sure that most woodies have wood replaced almost daily. and at paperg i really do love the ride. its my favorite ride. the last few times i have been to Kings Island i just ride Drop Tower to look at it, and sit on the bench overlooking its lift hill and drop the one in front of days of thunder just to look at it for a while.
  12. but you said that the ride could not handle the forces, which is totally different from saying that it is worn down quicker which i would have to agree with.
  13. as cool as that would be, knowing that the ceo of Cedar Fair says ttd was a mistake pretty much tells you that that would not happen. unless it would be possible to just make ttd taller... is that even feasible? i wouldnt think so...
  14. why are people saying the supports cant handle the forces, when they obviously have for years now? thats not even why the ride is currently down... they obviously can handle the forces, the question is how long? im pretty sure by now that a ton of The Beasts structure has been rebuilt during its lifespan. Just because it needs more maintenance doesnt make it unsafe. that argument does not fly with me.
  15. the only reason i compared the two is to make the argument that Son of Beast is not useless. i know the incidents are uncomparable. the point is, Son of Beast is for extreme thrill seekers. the train is for anyone. Spongebob is for families to ride together. The park just needs a way to have Son of Beast marked more clearly to the general public who by far are roaming idiots that ignore signage and verbal warnings completely. You do not have a good chance of getting injured by riding Son of Beast, at least any more than just resting or taking an aspirin wouldnt help. it has been open for 9 years. Ohios ride and safety department would not have cleared an unsafe ride to open as is. Im pretty sure that by todays safety standards ohio as a whole has an outstanding record of keeping amusement rides safe with their inspection routines compared to other states or even countries.
  16. i dont know about the guy, but actually every time the ride has been down except for the helix 206 incident it was ruled pre existing, so yes it was pre existing. That lady wouldnt have her medical files released to prove it, but if they said the ride was not at fault, thats almost a guarantee that the injury was caused from a pre existing condition. When you enter a park, or a ride you are basically signing a release form. The signs clearly indicate that is is an extreme thrill ride. On the spiel it warns you that it is forceful, and turbulent and you shouldnt ride if you have a medical condition. On the sign it states that if you are not sure you should consult with your physician before riding. Not knowing you had a condition is not an excuse. and really? if you punched anyone's stomach its highly doubtful you would burst their appendix.
  17. a pattern of incidents in which the ride was not at fault. would you close down the white water rafting companies because people might get hurt and or die by going white water rafting? i really think this is just an issue of people not being responsible enough to choose if they should ride or not. They really should put up the sign that says the ride with throw you around, and that you should consider this before riding. That being said, i agree that the ride and its spiel is warning enough and that shouldnt be blamed on the park for not having sufficient warning.
  18. Posted to the Cedar Point official facebook... Want the head's up on 2010? Stay tuned...somethin's brewin'!
  19. for real? they have more than fixed the problem with the cracked wood. They have inspected the thing at least twice since this incident happened, and daily before its closure. Besides, it doesn't make the ride useless. Thats like saying flight commander was useless because a drunk girl named Candy got out of her restraints and fell to her death. wrong, that just means there was an incident, nothing more...
  20. if they put trims on the ride i certainly will not be a rider, and will be very ticked. after riding The Beast first train of the day being the only rider and being almost crawling to a halt with every single trim grabbing hard i am certainly not a fan of trims. Son of Beast is rough. Trims would just make the whole ride, well pointless....
  21. well i rode Drop Tower shortly before leaving around 8 on wednesday, and it was not present. that day, it poured raining for quite a while throughout the day.
  22. right. wednesday, the last day i saw it, it wasnt raining all day or anything.... not good. i saw 2 of the Son of Beast crew too, they were working drop zone, which was closed at opening. i found it humorous they would be stuck with another down ride when i saw them...
  23. wrong, i ride Drop Tower every visit just to look for any activity around Son of Beast. i was there wednesday, and there were no tarps. i was there numerous other visits, and there were no tarps. this is new.
  24. not to add to the fuel, but i was there today for ert (8 rides on The Beast, whoohoo!) but Son of Beasts trains now have tarps over them. i am pretty sure nothing is going to happen in the near future...
