  1. I believe the Paramount parks all added metal detectors in 2002. The Cedar Fair parks prior to the Paramount merger never had them installed. Obviously, CF decided that they might as well use them since they are already installed. I've never had the impression that they use them with great scrutiny.
  2. So, are there threads that are being deleted for some reason? I was reading this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23720&pid=426703&st=30entry426703 ...and then poof it was gone. Couldn't find it anywhere. What happened?
  3. I'd also like to chime in and say thank you for this thread. I was a bit sad that the 5@5 did not return this year as KI said that it would. However, this thread really served as a replacement. I really hope folks at the park have discovered this thread and checked it daily. It would be pretty amazing if they decided to do something like it themselves. I can only imagine that they must have a whole lot of photos stored somewhere. It would be easier than answering questions daily to just post another photo each day.
  4. Is the top observation deck on the Eiffel Tower open on top? Or does it have a roof?
  5. Yeah the Tomb Raider pic looks like a "how to put it together" model for the construction crew.
  6. I've always been sad that I never got the chance to ride Flight Commander. I missed it by maybe 2 years...or about 3 inches.
  7. Haha, it should say "Present this for one head-bangin ride on Flight of Fear."
  8. KC had a great color scheme. Wish they would reuse it. Don't seem to be many green coasters these days.
  9. Someone please explain what the chants meant? Was there some sort of sponsorship?
  10. Ah 1999. The debut of the McDonald's themed coaster.
  11. Ah yes, the witch's caldrons...the most misplaced ride ever.
  12. I loved the kids whip ride. What was its name?
  13. You're right, but what I was saying is that there tends to me more negative feedback in the era of the internet then ever before. BBW certainly had some online petitions. Unhappy folks can create much more negative publicity and become better organized than ever before. In reality though, I think the much more expanded park season (basically until November) means that many rides cannot be constructed in just the November-March time frame. Hence, rides like Diamondback have a year where they are simply fenced off. Many ride closing announcements are saved until August/September as well, to cut down on the time.
  14. Poor Demon, the sign should have just said 'Condemned'. Maybe that's why they take down the previous ride before building another. Can you imagine the uproar if you knew a year in advance that your favorite ride was being removed? In today's world there would be an internet craze. ...and that banana splits clip was so bad it was good.
  15. Which Hanna Barbara character is that? I should know, but the name slips my mind. Looks pretty creepy for a kids character. I used to think Captain Caveman was scary as a costumed character.
  16. I would imagine The Beast could have run 4 trains, but whether it ever did is the real question. I can see them rotating the 4 trains so that wear and tear was less.
  17. Many enthusiasts claim that Beastie...err whatever it is called now, is the best maintained wood coaster in the park. It probably helps that it is much smaller than the others.
  18. Where exactly is the winterfest photo taken from? It's hard to place it being at night.
  19. I'm still thankful that they put a show back in the Festhaus instead of the big TVs.
  20. I think that photo should be titled, "Evidence of the deforestation of Kings Island".
  21. Ah Skylab left us way too soon! I seem to have a memory of waiting in its line listening to "Material Girl" on the Q-tvs.
  22. Well they finished pouring the concrete at CP. About an hour ahead of their deadline of 5pm I might add. It looks pretty good.
  23. If you search on youtube you can find videos taken of the ride operating from inside the bowl building. Every so often a coaster event will include a tour.
