  1. stupid question, but where is that forum? edit: never mind
  2. I'd have to say Flight of Fear and top gun. mainly because they are the first coasters I rode at KI
  3. "supposed to" being the key words. I went on it twice the year it opened and the ride operator checked to make sure the restraint was locked in place both times, but paid no attention to where it was locked. It was as if, as long as it was fairly close to your body, they didn't care where it was.
  4. Since you want your son to ride with your daughter, I'd think they would over look the height thing like they do when parents ride with younger kids. This is just a guess since I don't have kids and only deal with the larger rides in Nick U that adults are allowed to ride.
  5. My friends keep telling me the same thing. However, I was a massive coaster phobe until 99 and some of them still scare me.
  6. I think Paramount only changed the maps that often because they didn't run all of their shows through the whole year so they had to put out new maps when a new show would start or an old one would end. Right now, I'd just be happy if CF would put this years map on their website. They have last years up and I hope that's not what they mail me in a week or so.
  7. I've never ridden it because, honestly, looking at the train go down that first drop scares the crap out of me and I've never gotten up the guts to get on it. With all of these problems and everything I've heard, I may never get on it.
  8. And you're looking to CF to do a better job of getting it up and running? I may not be an Ohio native like a lot of you but there is one thing I have known to be consistent in the 12 years I have lived here: CP's new coasters never run exactly right during the first few years after they are built. Considering that SOB is still basically a new coaster and it's now owned and handled by the same parent company as CP, I'm kind of doubtful that they will get the problems fixed the first time around. One good thing I can say is that I believe they will continue to work out the bugs until they are all gone. I don't see them simply scraping it unless they come across something they absolutely can't fix.
  9. You have a point. The fact that Racer and Beast are old isn't an excuse for the cars to be so small I guess. Especially when, in the case of CP, it's their newer coasters that have the stricter weight limits and smaller cars. In fact, CP's weight restrictions are so bad that I refuse to go up there. I'm not paying that much for admission if I'm not going to be able to ride half the stuff up there.
  10. The starbucks was there the last time I went, but I thought the bakery was too. Guess that shows how much attention I paid since I spent half an hour standing in front of starbucks so I could get to IJ:ST as fast as possible.
  11. Actually, I used to have breakfast at the bakery while my friends and I looked at the map and planned our day. I was hoping to still be able to do that. Oh, well, looks like I'm planning in the car over egg mcmuffins or something on the way down from now on.
  12. I honestly don't go to BB often enough to care since I'm not real big on waterparks. If I want to cool off while at KI, they have three water rides that I can get on. I realize that this is what if, but I think CF would basically be shooting themselves in the foot to do that since the Beach is across the street from KI and charging admission to BB would just create competition that they don't currently have.
  13. So the park opens at ten and you can't get to the rides till eleven now? Or is it the same as before that the park opens at 10 but you can get into International street at nine? Sorry, I know I sound really dense but I'm trying to coordinate a trip with a lot of people coming from different places and I want to make sure I tell them the right time to be there since we want to get there as early as possible.
  14. I haven't been to KI in a couple years, so I was hoping someone could tell me exactly when they open the gates to the park. I remember when it was owned by Paramount, you could get into the park and hour before the actual "opening time" but you couldn't go past International Street until the posted opening time for that day. Is that still the case or has CF changed it so that you can't get into the park at all before the posted opening hour. I was really hoping they hadn't changed that because I liked having that hour to look around the shops or grab breakfast and plan out where I was going when the rides opened.
  15. Thanks for posting this, I haven't been to the park yet this year and this has given me an idea of what to expect. I agree with you on the music, I would rather hear classic rock than what you say they are playing. As for The Beast, two clicks on the lap restraint has always been the rule on that. I myself am a "person of excetional size" as they put it. I first went to the park in 1999 and they have told me every time I've ridden The Beast that the bar had to click twice. Also the difference between Beast/Racer and rides like Italian Job(which, from what I remember, doesn't have a "restraint click rule" is that the cars on the first two probably haven't been replaced in at least twenty years. Therefore, they were made when people were just smaller. I agree with you about those cars being too small and I think they need to either replace them, or go back to the full bench seats without those sections in the middle.
  16. I'm a few inches shorter than you at 5'5" but I was 275, maybe more the last time I went to the park a couple years ago. OTSR were fine, but the lap bars took a bit to get closed. Just remember that the lap bar has to click twice when you push it down. The only rides I've ever had problems on were Beast, Racer and Flight of Fear, everything else has been fine and a lot of the rides have test seats by the entrance so you can check ahead of time. I'm thinking you should be fine riding anything you want though.
  17. I've never ridden Delirium but the site sets max height at 6'3". You're right about riding fair rides. Once you've been to a good amusement park, they don't compare.
  18. I agree with you about the bad planning for the fourth this year. I could kind of see if they had decided to to it maybe the weekend before since the fourth is a wednesday this year. I, and everyone going with me, also have to work on the third and that's why we are going on the fourth. Since there are obviously not going to be any holiday festivities this year, I kind of see them having it a day early as a good thing for me personally because they don't shut down coasters hours early for the normal fireworks as they do for the holiday ones which means that I'll have the opportunity to ride things like The Beast at night for the first time. As for the crowds, I wasn't really worried about them. I have been to the park on the fourth almost every year that I've gone and never considered it to be that crowded. However, this is a large amusement park so I expect it to be crowded.
  19. That's funny you should say that because the lady in front of me on Vortex did just that. As for what annoys me. I would have to go with this list in no order. 1. smoking in line. This coming from a smoker. Look I know how to use the designated areas why can't everyone else. 2. Basketballs I hate those things they should make the rims smaller so no one wins. 3. People that feel the need to elbow or kick you while on rides like Delirium and then act like it's your fault. 4. I am a slow walker I'll admit that I even have a limp but I hate it when big groups of people just stop right in front of you to talk when it's crowded and then get mad because you bumped them. 5. Line jumping I hate this so much I think I hate the people that "have to get up farther to their friends" the most because I've been almost run over by them so they can ride first because they had to go to the bathroom or get a drink. Look hold it or don't ride it's that simple I'm sure all of us have gotten in line only to find out we have to use the restroom I can only speak for myself but I usually hold it or leave the line then start the waiting process all over. 6. People who abuse the handicapped ride policy. 7. Overweight people wearing bikini tops and tight shorts. Look I'm not wanting to be mean and I have no issue with your weight if you're happy I just don't want to see it. 8. People who can't use the trash cans. I was in line for The Beast the other week when this guy who walked by the trash can decided it would be better to throw his empty beer cup on the ground. 9. I don't really have a problem with beer drinkers in line as long as they don't spill it on me. Same goes for little kids with Cokes that are way to big to carry for them as long as it isn't spilled on me we're cool. 10. People who constantly break the rules on Zephyr how hard is it to not grab your friends or twist in your swing? I think that's it for now. Thanks for listening. I agree with you on the overweight people in bikinis and tight clothes and I am overweight. I was in the water park my first time at Kings Island and was shocked to see women twice my size in tiny bikinis and suits. there are some things you just can't wear when you're big. As for the basketballs, when I was last at the park a couple years ago, all of the games had big bags that they gave out for people to carry their prizes in. Are they not doing that anymore or are people just not bothering to use them? Of course, the main thing about all of this is that no matter where you go you are going to find people who have no common sense, are rude or are both. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done about it so we all just have to deal with it.
  20. True, but speedway has been advertising that they would not have KI passes after the 14th of june. Some stores may have continued to sell them after that if they still had any, but there's no guarantee of that. I know that Meijer is still selling them. Kroger might be as well, but they were only supposed to have them until the 14th as well.
  21. don't know how much this will help now since you may have already gone to the park, but you can buy those two day admission tickets at Meijer stores if you have one in your area. A couple years ago, KI gave you a days admission if you purchased one at the gate but I didn't go last year and haven't been yet this year so I don't know if CF is doing the same thing now. Your best bet if you want the two day is to go to Meijer if possible. They sell the passes for the same price you get online.
  22. The first time I rode FOF it was completely dark. I was a coaster phobic at the time and was actually glad for that. Of course, my first time riding it was the last year of the OTSR and such. I wish they would go back to the blackness too. It added so much more to the ride when you couldn't see what was coming next and didn't have to look at the dull track in a grey metal building.
  23. I'm going to the park on 7/4 (though I have been there several times before) and I was wondering about a few things. I noticed that KI's website has no mention of the Action F/X theater. Is it still open? If so, what is it playing? Have the rides seriously gone down hill since last year? Are the food and gaming prices a lot higher? I'm just basically wondering what I can expect during my trip since CF took over the park. I've read some things on this forum and others from the beginning of the season but I know things can change over a couple months as it gets into the main part of the season and I want to be prepared for whatever. Especially since I'm taking some first timers with me.
  24. I actually liked the OTSR better myself, but a friend of mine had her earrings poke holes in the sides of her head from the banging on them. I'm a little heavy, so the lap bars are a problem for me too. I have to fight to get it to go down far enough and I didn't have to do that with the OTSR.
