  1. I am scared of heights, but yet I will get on a roller coaster and ride Drop Tower and Power Tower (CP) without any issues. BUT.... I can't think past the height of Top Thrill Dragster! I have been on that TWICE. The first time I rode it, there was a roll back, and I wanted off it so badly. But I didn't get off. Then this past summer I got on it for some one I know that goes to Cedar Point periodically and lives in my area, and we were on a train after a roll-back. I cannot tell you how relieved I was that it didn't roll back. The other ride I had "issues" with was Nighthawk at Carowinds. Arg! I hate that ride for the simple reason there is NOTHING to grasp onto while on it. (while Firehawk has the little bicyle handle bars) I laughed, I cried, and screamed on that. And to think its my aunt's favorite ride at Carowinds. Arg!!!!!!! It scares the crap out of me! So does being scared factor in or do you put the fear aside and go?
  2. I would not call that lucky being stuck at the top of TTD. If had happened to me, and now knowing the picture involved, I would gladly post it and say there I am. Because I would be the one with the look of FEAR on my face!
  3. That associates the Peanuts gang at Cedar Point? I swear I am peeved about them switching Kings Island and the former Paramount Parks to Snoopy! I never put Cedar Point and Kings Island on one page, and now its like they are in a sense. I use to love Camp Snoopy at Cedar Point, but its bad enough they have changed all the names to the rides and such, what will this mean for the kids area? I can't even start to think of Snoopy themed names....
  4. Son of Beast If not I dunno.
  5. I got stuck at the top of Drop Tower, the next person in line would have a SOAKED seat. I barely can take the 10 seconds of waiting for the drop, let alone being stuck up there. My aunt experienced it and I don't want to be the next one in this family! LOL
  6. I'm jumping in to put in my 2 cents worth. Back when SOB opened (the year), we were there on one of the few days it was open. I was excited and so was everyone I was with. I was excited to experience the thrill of a looping wooden coaster. I didn't think it would be any more jerky than The Beast. (later that day, it didn't top the JERKYNESS of riding Flight of Fear) But around that first turn and into the lift hill, my neck cracked so hard and loudly, it scared me. It was JERKY and I hated it and was fine with experiencing it ONCE. Flash-forward to the loop removal, I thought it would be better. Nope same issues, except it was my back and my friend's neck that got wacked out of place. (Flight of Fear was smooth) We sat in the row that both a ride operator and a KI enthusist told us wouldn't be jerky. Well it was terrible. If it stays around, I WILL ride it one final time to take my 8 year old niece on it, cause she really wanted to this past summer. But it will be it, unless 3rd time is the charm in figuring out how not to walk away with a bad back and neck ache!
  7. I miss King Cobra. Was my first stand-up coaster. Alot of firsts were at KI for me. The day Vortex goes....I will be a basket case.
  8. I am in Charlotte right now and haven't heard anything about it on the news.
  9. TTD Roll-Back Here! The first time I rode it! Almost the last time too. LOL The 2nd time, I was on the train after a roll-back.
  10. I have been stuck on "The Beast" both lifts, 2 different times. The 2nd lift one was about 10 minutes. My friend was like its a long walk back to the station and I looked around and was like how the heck would we get back there! It was a few years ago, but still. ETA: My aunt was stuck on Drop Zone at Carowinds years ago. Not fun, she said. She won't ever get on it etiher. Use to be our favorite thrill ride to get on there. (memory serves right it was stuck 2 hours or something like that)
  11. Frisbee- that ride you posted looks like it would make me puke! LOL
  12. What type of coaster/ride(s) would you like to see put in its spot? Edited to Add: I want to see a new stand up coaster at Kings Island. I miss King Cobra there so badly and while I do hate the bicycle seats, I just want to see one brought back to the park, either in that spot or elsewhere in the park.
  13. Do you think ever that you won't get on a ride? I was around 200lb the last 2 trips to Kings Island and Carowinds, and I NEVER thought twice about getting on the coasters and rides. At Kings Island, the past 2 years, I went on The Beast first and each time it wasn't the lap bar being an issue, but the seat belt! I got in with the lap bar, but I was in tears just about each time cause the stupid belt and operator was like here does this work and let it out or something. (anyone know?) I can't imagine not riding that ride! LOL I have also been on the ride when people have been told they can't ride. Drop Zone was being one of them at KI and I have a picture of the person, and I felt bad for the guy. I was at Carowinds last summer, there was a girl in line with her cousin and she didn't want to ride Nighthawk (The Borg ride...I get names mixed up) we stood in line for 2 hours, and get up there and they couldn't get the lap bar to click at all for her and so couldn't ride it. I felt so bad for her after standing in line all that time. I guess it all depends on your size and how you are shaped, but I never think about it. I was able to ride at Cedar Point with no problems either, and I know some people have had problems.
  14. Chrissy- I'm glad she got on DB! I saw your PM, and its too late to respond.
  15. I live in NC, but as you know I grew up in Ohio. We never went to KI or any park after school started. My aunt talked about possibly going to Carowinds next month (october). She had back surgery a year ago and we decided to not go this summer. But she talked about Scarowinds and possibly going. A Few ?'s 1) Can you do the Halloween stuff on General Admission? Are the tickets discounted this time of the year? 2) How are the crowds on the weekend? (can't recall ever going on the weekends....the worse time I ever went to a park was on x-mas day to Disneyland....it won't be that bad!) 3) Anyone who has had back surgery----how soon did you go back to riding the coasters? Thanks!
  16. Maverick....love that ride....or an inverted coaster like Top Gun at Carowinds....dunno what its called....
  17. I'd say if they tear down SOB, that by 2012 we get a new coaster in its place. I wonder if they will ever try to do a lopping wooden coaster again???/
  18. This topic reminds of when I went to Cedar Point with my best friend since grade school and we were on "Corkscrew" about to leave the station and she goes to me "Does this ride go upside down?" And 20 min before we were watching the corkscrew part of the ride! LOL This is also the same friend that tricked me into riding Vortex and told me at the top of the hill that she had never rode it when we were 11!
  19. I am really getting tired of hearing the rumors of what is going to happen to this ride and if its sinking into the ground and such....but does anyone really know its fate???? I would hate to see this one go. It was my first upside down coaster and my niece loved it. I can't see KI without it.
  20. I am among the group of larger people but had no problems getting on DB. I was able to get 3 clicks, even though it was tight around my legs, but it wasn't too bad. Sorry you had problems.
  21. They have the same trains yes, but the DIFFERENCE is where with Firehawk there are those like little bicycle handlebars to grasp and on Nighthawk there is NOT something to wrap your hands around. Its like the arm rest at a movie theater, there is nothing to grasp. If you go on you tube there's a video of Nighthawk leaving the station and you can see a difference. < Nighthawk at Carowinds < Firehawk at KI
  22. KIFan- your son is a bit younger than my niece....but it didn't seem to bother her....she stayed in place pretty snuggly. I wasn't going to say no to her, cause we told her if she was tall enough she could ride whatever and like I said the only thing I say scared her was Drop Tower.
  23. Is it me or does it feel like you are going to fall out of your seat on this ride? I swear as you are going up the hill (either side) that I felt like I was going to come out of the seat! I was hanging on for dear life so I wouldn't, but my friend felt the same way. I am curious if its the G's you might feel....or what? It happened the last 2 times I've rode it too (this was only my 3rd time).
  24. My 7 y/o niece is a dare-devil has been since we took her to Disneyland when she was 3 and we went on everything there that she could including "Matterhorn." Last year she was just under 48" and while I am SHOCKED that she's just a foot shorter than me now, she graduated from kiddy coasters to the big kid world of coasters. The only complaints she had was Son of Beast being closed and having to drag her away from there cause it wasn't open. I would've went on it just to see her reaction. She watched Diamondback with me while her dad went on it with my friend and I rode with my brother. I am glad I didn't wear flip-flops cause my shoes would've flown off cause my feet don't touch the bottom. LOL Firehawk my friend and I got on while my brother snuck off with my niece. I have to say, its TOTALLY different from Nighthawk at Carowinds, I loved having something to hang on to while riding it. Flight of Fear we didn't go on at all. Ivertigo--- is it me or does it feel like you're going to fall out???? But here are her reactions to the Big Kid Rides: The Beast: We did this one first with her. Last year she watched at the exit while my friend and I rode it. She was upset she couldn't get on it last year. The HILARIOUS part for every ride, she wanted to ride in the front row....well she did with her dad and my friend and I were a few rows back. When we got off, she was like that was sooooooooo awesome! I want to go again! LOL The Racer: We did this after we rode The Beast....she didn't find this as thrilling! This was sooooooooo jerky! Ugh. Backlot Stunt Coaster: This wasn't my first time on this, but for everyone else. I rode with my brother and my friend rode with my niece. We sat behind them, she loved this more than The Beast. Again she wanted to ride it again.....LOL So we went off to the Water Park for a bit....which even there she got to do more. Then headed back to the coasters. Flight Deck: We decided to hit the OTSR rides....Flight Deck seemed like a good place to start. She looked so TINY under the restraints. She loved it, she said. But wanted something more and kept talking about Vortex.... Before we hit Vortex, I asked her if she wanted to go on Drop Tower. My brother and I took her on it....she sat in the middle of us. I could see my brother around her better than I could see her. We got up to the top, I was like look how high up we are! She screamed in either delight or fear, but with her I couldn't tell. We dropped down she was screaming like her aunt! LOL That she said she didn't want to go on anymore....I don't think I helped with that saying how high up we were! LOL So Vortex was next....and we knew The Beast was over in that area, so we could hit that again. She stood and watched the ride once and was ready to go on it! LOL No fear! I was telling her how my first time on Vortex that my friend (who was with us) and I road it in the front and she wanted to do the same. LOL She wanted to ride with me, which made it more special for me. My brother and friend was behind us. I hadn't road this in the front since my first time on it and it scared me heading toward that first drop! I told her what was coming, cause she said when do we go upside down. LOL It was so cute! She loved it! Its jerky for us, I'm sure it was for her a bit seeing her head isn't above the restraints. So we were able to hit the coasters at least 2 times, we rode Beast 3 times and Vortex 3 times. I am so happy my niece LOVES coasters and now I can't wait till she's tall enough for everything! LOL Just thought I share.
  25. I can't say I'll miss it if its torn down. I am some one that has suffered some sort of "ache or injury" while riding the coaster with and without the loop. My friend had a neck injury last year from it that messed up the hearing in her ear. All though we had the HARD task of explaining to my 7 y/o niece why she couldn't go on it and she kept going to the height sign going "I AM TALL ENOUGH!" I was like well its closed, I'm sorry and couldn't distract her away from it. LOL I would've gone on it with her just to see her face, cause nothing seemed to scare her at all and SOB was one of those TALL coasters I was anxious to see her react to.
