  1. Sonofbeast2.0, the ticket policy is that you will receive 4 free park admission tickets after you have worked 28 shifts. These tickets must be used by Labor Day but can be used by any 4 friends or family members that you choose. You will learn more about this and any discounts during park orientation before your first shift

  2. As somebody who has had the privilege to work backstage for not only Spirit Song but numerous other concerts with these same bands headlining, if you have never went, or haven't been in a while, I STRONGLY recommend checking it out this year.

Though I've never seen Newsboys live, I've heard nothing but great things about their concerts and their great energy on stage.

TobyMac stole the night away last season with his amazing concert and I'm sure this year will be just as great, plus he will be coming fresh out of Winter Jam a couple months prior so it is definitely going to be fun to watch

I can't say enough about the production that Skillet puts on for each and every concert as they are always top notch, plus there may even be a chance they will be rolling out a new production and set this touring season but we will have to wait and see. Just a guess

I have seen Tenth Avenue North, Matthew West, We As Human, RED, and Newsong previously in concert at Winter Jam and all had amazing sets.

My church had the privilege of hosting Building 429 in concert back in August and words can't describe how great that concert turned out! That whole band and crew, just like all the others listed, are some of the greatest people you will ever meet, when it looks like they thrive off of crowd energy, it's because they really do because they care so much about their audiences.

All other bands, besides Petra, I have heard great things about all of their productions though I have never seen them live.

Like I said I strongly recommend checking it out this season after seeing this artist lineup. Spirit Song has become the highlight of the past two summers for me and it is something I always look forward to every year so if there is ever a year to go, this season is definitely one of them, and I know each and every band member and crew member, as well as everybody at KI would greatly appreciate seeing a packed house all three days!

  3. Great Trip Report Kirk! Glad to hear you had a great experience at the park. One of the things that caught my eye is you and your friend having a good lunch at Outer Hanks which is something I like to see. Being a supervisor at that stand it's always great to hear when our guests had great experiences at our stand which is something I like to strive for with each guest. Glad to hear your pulled pork and fries were good and hope all of your experiences in every food stand this season is just as good :)

Also, like Indyguy4KI, I look forward to seeing your comments on the shows since I don't get to watch the shows as often due to work. I couldn't agree more with you by saying this show is a winner already. I got to watch it for the first time Saturday by watching the final two shows of the day and it has to be one of the best I've seen at Kings Island. I look forward to being there this upcoming Sunday all day to shoot some video and get some pictures as well.

  4. Yes there are events at KI as well, also you get discounts on selected merchandise.

Also according to Cedar Point HR, you get ERT at all the CF parks, but according to KI security and Greg Schied you get no ERT at any CF park.

I really enjoy that merchandise discount even though I still have yet to use it in the 2 years I've worked at the park.

Also, regarding the ERT at CF parks, when I went to Cedar Point last August and used my Kings Island ID to get in, I asked one of the CP security guards if I could get into the ERT and I was unfortunately not allowed to participate and had to wait for park opening. I really didn't mind it, I still enjoyed my time up there

  5. Workin morning shift, so will be there at about 7:30 or so!!!!!!biggrin.gif

Yikes, brings back memories from last season when I had the 8 AM shift, some fun, some boring. Good luck to you though, hope everything works out for you this season!

I will be at the park at probably around 8 or 8:15 and will stop in to get my paycheck then wait for the gates to open in what will be freezing cold weather, haha. That is the ONE thing I'm not looking forward to about tomorrow but other than that I'm definitely pumped! I've been counting down for this day ever since November 2, 2009!

  6. Justin I hate to make your week worse but Down Home Country will still be playing this season. If it makes you feel better though it wont open until like June 4th or 5th.

I'm definitely looking forward to Way Too Much TV though. I've been looking forward to it since I heard about it last November. I have alot of friends from last season in the show so I believe this show will be very good! You can bet I'll be at the 1 PM show to watch!

Thanks for the review Ryan, I definitely appreciate it.

  7. When I did processing last season it took me all but 25 minutes for processing and that includes waiting in line. HR was open for processing to all re-hires last week and it still took me almost 3 hours even when I went right after school. I definitely wasn't ready for that but it was worth it. Saw a couple of my friends from last season and talked to them really the whole time.

I go in for my Food Returners class on Saturday from 12:30-3:30 and I can't wait, hopefully there will be a few people I remember from last season in that time slot and hopefully I will be offered a promotion up to Assistant Team Leader! :)

  8. Here are the 5 questions and answers from today. I'm so glad that they answered my very first question that I asked but I did it for everybody here at KIC because the topic of a nice sit down restaurant has been talked about on here many times over the past couple of years.

Another round of outstanding questions for today. For the rest of this week how about we do this? Questions will be answered by a respresentative from a different department, so you'll want to gear your questions towards their area. First up will be Matt Shafer, director of marketing. This is your chance to ask about the website, special events, season passes, marketing slogans and more. Start thinking of your questions for tomorrow and I'll tell Matt what we're doing.

Q: PAUL BONIFIELD - What will happen to Scooby Bucks?

A: There's a new sheriff in town, Snoopy. In his honor, Beagle Bucks will be available at the park.

    ---------------------------

Q: BRAD PERDUE - Let's say it is a really nice day out in the offseason. Do the year-round employees ever fire up a ride and take turns giving rides?

A: The cars from all the rides are dismantled during the offseason, and track work and painting gets done so there's no opportunity to do that. Plus, the only way anyone in the park can operate a ride is if they're certified to work that particular ride. They'd have to go through the same training our rides associates do. We do get to ride some of the rides in the spring after they have been inspected and certified by the State of Ohio, usually a week or so before Opening Day. April 17 this year, BTW.

    ---------------------------

Q: DEREK BRANOCK - Does Kings Island have any plans to put in a nice, sit-down restaurant (other than Rivertown Junction) where the park guests can just sit down comfortably and order a nice hot meal, such as a Johnny Rockets at Cedar Point?

A: Great question, Derek. It's not in the immediate plans but it's possible. It's an idea that's been discussed over the past few years. We know from the in-park surveys we do every day that it's something our guests would like to see.

    ---------------------------

Q: BRETT FEHR - Who is this answering our questions?

A: That would be me! Tomorrow though it's gonna be marketing director Matt Shafer. He got to drive around in one of them really cool Diamondback snake cars last year.

    ---------------------------

Q: BRIAN E. LAMM - Will there ever be an area at Kings Island to display the history of Kings Island? Say a small museum in the park, something with old pictures or props, maybe even parts of old rides? Just an idea for older folks to remiinisce about the past to the younger generation.

A: Love the idea, Brian. There's so much history that's been built over the years. Certainly worth a discussion, especially with the 40th anniversary season coming up in a couple of years.

    ---------------------------

  9. Q: Tyler Nusky - Will the new Pretzel stand replace an exisiting stand?

A: The Pretzel Shop will be located on International Street, where the BBQ stand was last year. You will be able to watch your pretzel being made by hand.

This answer confused me. I don't remember there being a BBQ stand on International Street last season. Can anybody enlighten me as to where this location was?

  10. I got a job in Food and Beverage, at Coney Mall Skyline. :) I'm really excited!

Food and Beverage Area 2 all the way! :) I'm in Jukebox so you may see me there sometime since I will likely be sent there to help out sometime this year especially if I get promoted which I'm hopeful of and will be working hard again for.

Congrats to you and FF EKU dawg and everybody else who has been hired to the Kings Island team. I can tell you all you are all definitely in store for one of the best seasons you have ever had at the park just because of the fact you are employees! :D

Sorry if you have said already but where did you get hired at FF EKU dawg?

  11. I've been waiting for the park to announce these as I have known about most of the new shows since November since I attended the Entertainment Auditions and am real good friends with many of the performers. I had not been able to get a great description up until now and all I have to say is that I am truly pumped for this season to start back up as I'm a HUGE fan of the Entertainment Department at KI and am hoping to get a job as a technician for one of these shows plus not to mention these shows sound like they will definitely be absolutely amazing, especially with the performers that I know are already in them plus the new performers as well. Here's my take on the new shows:

Snoopy Rocks, On Ice! - I was a great fan of Endless Summer in the 3 years it was at the park, especially last season as I thought it competed to be the best show during the summer. I see the addition of Snoopy being a great asset to the show and see this show going a very long way this season with many great ice skaters and being an excellent family friendly attraction.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered! - When I first heard about this show I'm not going to lie I was a bit disappointed as I really liked Flashback in the past two seasons. Though now that I think about it I think this show will be just as good as Flashback: Totally 80's and will have a lot of success!

Way Too Much TV - This is the show I can't wait on seeing. Knowing a couple people that are in this that performed in Down Home Country last season and knowing many theme songs from TV shows this sounds like an excellent show. Plus not to mention there is a 50% chance that if I get hired to Entertainment this will be the show I work at. Although I don't think ANY show can ever replace and compete with County Line, I still think this will be an excellent show for everybody to see.

Charlie Brown's Hoedown - Probably going to be a great show to replace the Dora Show from '07-'08 and also Marty's Party from last season and a great way for younger children to kind of get a feel for who exactly the Peanut's characters are. I see this being just as successful as as the previous two shows that have occupied the theatre and like all the other new shows, a great addition to the Kings Island Entertainment Department.

I could go on and on about what I think about the new shows as I have many great things to say but I thought I would just keep it short and sweet for times sake plus so I don't have to make all of you suffer from reading even more about what I think.

  12. Just passed ki and all I could see is that reptar is being painted orange supports and yellow track. I also could tell that either the avatar character or maybe the actual ride car itself is gone. Also the top of the nick store looks like it's getting ready to be primed. That's all I got just figured I'd let you know.

Thanks for the update, I really missed seeing this yesterday as I drove by the park, then again I was driving for in car lessons so I couldn't see as much as I would have liked

Make note of this though as he is correct. I figured Kings Island would be the same as Carowinds but wanted to make sure before I posted anything. These photos are from Carowinds Facebook Page that were added last week showing the color scheme to Reptar up close. Also shares the new name of Reptar, the old Nick Store, and the former Nick-O-Round

  13. 61 times to KI this season, highest total ever for me, including opening and closing day (Final train of the season on Diamondback) About 20 of these visits consisted of changing out of my Jukebox uniform after getting off and going into the park from there.

Also made my first visits ever to Cedar Point and Holiday World. By far the best season I've ever had and looking forward to another great season in 2010.

Only 165-172 days (estimated) until KI Opening Day 2010. :D (Yes I've already started counting)

  14. Definitely going this year especially after hearing about the crowds on opening night.

Jason B Opening night will not be crowded at all. I haven't been to Haunt on Opening Night but have heard many people say that the park was dead and everything was pretty much walk on and it seems like that will happen again this year

  15. ^^I think it mainly just depends on how easily you get freaked out. I'm more of a moderate person, I can get freaked out but not as easy as others. I personally think Haunt is probably the best time to go to Kings Island as I have alot of fun going through the park with the intention that something/someone could pop out at any second.

As far as being allowed into the park, you would be allowed. Kings Island holds no age limit for Halloween Haunt but remember it does have alot of adult theme and is intended for mature audiences only so really just know your limits is the best thing I think you can do.

  16. Rotag great TR. Sounds like with the exception of a few things you all had a great time which is good to hear.

Thanks to all of you that stopped by Jukebox to say Hi to me. Sorry that I wasn't able to talk to you and sorry if you thought I was ignoring you. We were getting killed with shake orders Sunday as we were just understaffed and I was the only person able to make shakes while Hannah I believe was on register.

Also if there is anybody on here that ordered a shake from Jukebox Diner on Sunday that waited a long period of time to get it, I again want to apologize for that. I tried the best I could to stay on track and get the shakes out as fast as possible but it was nearly impossible to get the shake orders out within 5 minutes which is what I normally make my max time for the customer to get the shake from time of order.

Anytime any of you go to the park, don't be afraid to stop in and say Hi again, hopefully next time we wont be nearly as busy as we were Sunday. Also Happy Birthday Ashley. I realize I'm late but its better late than never. :)

Again great TR Rotag. Glad you all had a great time everywhere you went and thanks for stopping by Jukebox, it was nice to see all of you.

  17. Great PTR Tomkatt7. Sounds like you all had a great time and yes, the weather could not have been any more perfect than what it was.

I was actually at the park, scheduled to work until 6 but got off at 3 due to overstaffing. So I went in and started what would be a great day but sad day as well as I went to see the final 4 shows of County Line. Had a great time watching but was sad after the final show ended.

Good luck to your nephew with the band situation, I can imagine it's probably hard to not be able to participate in something like that because it got cut. Hope everything works out and he still has a great time in band like he always has.

  18. ^^I did not attend the event, I didn't even go to the park as a guest. Though as an employee, the first couple of hours up until about 12:30, 1 didn't seem all too bad. I ended up getting assigned to Festhaus today and I heard that a few minutes after my sup. told me to go to Festhaus that Jukebox got slammed with people and about that time Festhaus became very crowded also. I would say though that the park attendance was pretty much the same as any other Saturday.

Derek, who enjoyed working in Festhaus today since he got to see his favorite KI show.

P.S I hope everybody that attended the event today had an excellent and memorable time. I actually did see a big group of you at one point today while I was coming back from break. Wanted to stop by and say hi to all of you but I was focused on getting back from break on time.

  19. ^^I agree with you. I just got back from Cedar Point yesterday afternoon. It was my first ever trip up there and got on everything I wanted to except for Maverick so that would be my first ride on a day like that. Hopefully I will be able to get another trip up there sometime and hopefully the waits aren't as bad as they were Wednesday.

Unless you really do attend a private event at Cedar Point, you probably will not get a "very" short line on Maverick. The shortest I have ever had on there is 45 minutes. But, the longest i have had is 4 hours. My opinion. Just wait it out. Or try and get there at the very beginning of the day adn run straight to it. haha

My family and I actually did get to the park at 9 but since we dont have Platinum Passes and didnt stay at a resort, we were not able to get into the park until 10. Plus we actually decided to go to MF first but we were only able to walk while everyone else ran.

So what I did to save time was take my moms bag and run to the lockers outside of the MF entrance, only to find out that 1) Lockers are either $2 or $3 and 2) You could only use dollar coins and not quarters so by the time we got that done, MF already had a posted 1 3/4 hour wait but turned out to only be 45 minutes so wasn't bad.

Also, if I could get a 45-60 minute wait for Maverick I would be very happy but both times I went it was posted as a 2 hour wait and then the 3rd time it was closed for the night.

Hey if I had a SoB shirt I would wear it. I wouldn't care what anybody else thought, I personally like the ride and would like it to stay.

Lol. Especially when it's a station wait. It's amazing. :)

Heck yeah it is. There was nothing better than being able to ride SoB many times without waiting no more than 5-10 minutes each time. Plus I always thought a night ride on it was awesome as well, of course it didn't beat a Beast night ride or now a Diamondback night ride, it was still a good one in my opinion

  20. I was thinking about attending this event but decided not to and its a good thing I did. I will still be at the park but I will actually be working as I just got hired into Food & Beverage. I've heard a few comments about Jukebox Diner on here but even if you don't like the food from there you should all come by and say "Hi" to me as that is where I was assigned to work. :)

As long as you don't take 30min to get a milkshake out. :)

    Kidding.

Haha, I promise to do my best at taking orders and getting them out to you and everybody else as fast as I can
