  1. Question for our seasoned historians.....when was the last time the Eiffel Tower was painted?  I was pretty surprised that it wasn't repainted this off season with the focus on I-Street and with Baynum Painting being listed as doing some off season work I was almost convinced that it would be done this year.

This is so cool! Love to see that this kind of festival is coming to Kings Island, especially after all the effort put into International Street. It seems like perfect timing.

I know this is very doubtful, but I wonder if the "electrifying musical score" is original, or if it'll just be some bollywood hits and top 10 charts like some of the previous years' fireworks shows have been. I think an original score would be cool, and worth the investment for Cedar Fair if they're putting this parade at multiple parks. Regardless, I'm especially excited to see how they use the new lighting package on International Street for this show!

I'll echo the others and say I'm also curious about parade routes. Anyone remember what path the Nickelodeon parade took?

Remember this post?  I would say that original music is likely on it's way.

  3. If the past stays true the second weekend of Haunt always feels like more of the details are in place......there are many reasons for this, a big one has to do with the timing of the corporate sell-out weekends in September.  I would venture to say we will probably notice some additions throughout the park next weekend.

Freak accidents happen.  How many incidents like this occur each year, you only cited one?  Several die each year from the brain eating amoeba, I still get in the water, lakes included.

Yes, but when "freak accidents" happen, places that value safety evaluate the situation and will do what needs to be done in order to help prevent it from happening again.  You can be sure that KI's loose article policies and other safety policies such as the no jewelry or bathing suits with rivets on water slides is there for a good reason....they are trying to minimize the risk, and you should be grateful because if they didn't care there would be way more "freak accidents" happening at KI.

  5. One thing of note is that the extended season last year put a lot of the Entertainment staff into a much longer season than in past years, this cut down the amount of off-season time that was available.....quite possibly could have something to do with the later start and no extra shows announced at this time.  Many of the seasonal staff will not be able to start back to work as early in the season as they have in the past due to the required amount of unemployment time off between the season to keep them at a seasonal status.

I find it interesting that Twisted Timbers has no shed. I wonder why that is... TT and MT have the same core backstory, except one's in a lumber company and the other is in an apple orchard. Maybe KD didn't want TT to be seen as a poor man's Verbolten?

Or, maybe they just learned their lesson and are going to include one as a pleasant surprise experience instead of over-hyping it and letting everyone down when it debuts.  I think that would have saved KI's shed.  Most people would have felt like it was such an awesome way to end the ride if it wouldn't have been mentioned and hyped all winter, and instead it just was there to surprise everyone when the coaster opened.

But, I'm doubting that Twisted Timbers is going to have a shed element at all, maybe some other surprise theming????

  7. Does the action fx theatre at Carowinds still have the motion simulator infrastructure in existence, or did theirs get pulled out like ours?   I think that might make all the difference between us possibly getting an attraction like this in the future.

If their equipment is still in there, then it might just be a matter of replacing the cars versus completely reinstalling the entire system.

I do remember riding in the back seat down I-71 watching the horizon to catch a glimpse of the top of the Eiffel Tower. It seems it's harder to do now. Amazing how much taller trees are 30 years later hahahaha

I remember the traffic going home.  I always managed to stay awake long enough to make it to the RR/75 interchange before falling asleep on the way home.... also the "gum trees" on the way to WWC

Uggh.....the "Gum Trees"!  So glad that that kind of stuff went away.  I never understood the idea of placing gum on tree trunks, or even attraction walls (see racer tunnels, etc).

  9. On the other hand, that didn't stop Canada's Wonderland from building Leviathan which fundamentally is very similar to their already existing Behemoth.

What I'm wondering is if we will see parks in the near future retrofit their current inverts with the new style train.

  10. I think that many, if not most of the people posting on this forum page would rather not hear your ideas on how the tricks work......whether accurate or not. I think most of us would rather just go on continuing to enjoy the show, or choosing to not participate in watching.

It doesn't matter if you know how things are done or not, you don't need to ruin it for other people. I personally know how all of the tricks are performed, but yet I would NEVER even begin to think about telling someone, if they are really that interested in knowing the answers then they should do some research.

Now back to the side topic of Stunt Shows....Ryan, you are correct there was the short lived tower stunt show the first year of Action Zone, complete with fire from the top of the water tower, then there was also the short touring production of the Tomb Raider stunt show at Showplace the year Tomb Raider opened, complete with a Zip Line onto the stage (sound familiar?) and the motorcross bike jump onto the stage.

Many people tend to forget their was also a short summer stunt show (also at Showplace) that was themed as a Western one year, I forget the year on that one....maybe 1997(ish), that year also had a small "Hollywood Animal Actor" show (not the one with the tigers and lion) and if I remember correctly a Magic School Bus themed show, all at showplace...each show ran for around 3 weeks and then they switched.

  11. I wonder if WindSeeker being "not ready to operate" has anything to do with what is going on at Knott's with their WindSeeker. Westcoaster has a picture up from a trip last week where their verson is also not operating, but they have for some reason welded this new piece onto the carrage. It seems like they are trying to prevent the carrage from rotating for some reason.

Does anyone know the status of the other 1st round WindSeekers in the chain? I wonder if Canada's verson will open this weekend?

  12. If you are familiar with where the old outdoor section of lockers used to be inbetween the front gate and the Kings Island Theatre, that is where it is located. Imagine as if you were walking out the old Season Pass entrance, there is a big wall and it now features plaques with the inductees names.
