  1. Hey all, I just got back from a 7 day trip around Lake Erie. My friend and I hit Niagara Falls, Toronto, and Sandusky, along with amusement parks along they way. Sunday July 27 ; We hit Darien Lake on are way to Niagara Falls. We got there around 11:30am and were hoping for a dead park but to my surprise the place was packed. The plan was to ride all the coasters but I wanted to make sure I got my friend on the "Caves of the Winds" at Niagara Falls before we went across the border. We had to shorten are list quickly so we only got 2 coaster rides in and a scrambler ride in that was slow and bumpy. First was "Ride of Steel". I wanted to see how it compared to "Millennium Force" being that it was a Intamin Mega Coaster. The line was long and the crew was very slow. 45 min wait on that and it wasn't that great. To be fair it was a OK Mega coaster. 7 out of 10. Next was " Viper" for I have a soft spot for arrow loopers and I heard this was one of the best. It was a walk on. I didn't care for the cushioning on the seat for I'm 6'2" and it sat really wrong on my back. I would have to agree even with the painful seat cushion it was a really smooth arrow looper. 8 out of 10. After that me and my friend got are self a couple "Viper" shirts and we headed out to Niagara falls. I'm tired so I will write more hopefully tomorrow, for I got lots to say. Sneak Peek my fellow Kings Islanders, if are coaster is anything like "Behemoth" we are going to be very happy folks!
  2. Hey all, Sunday July 6 is my Birthday. I will be getting together with some friends in the evening but my rollercoaster friends are out of town this weekend, due to the holiday. I will be at Kings Island in the morning for a few rides on my favorite coasters. This will be a solo trip for me, but it is something I want to do so say hey if you want should you see me. I'll have tan shorts on and a blue and black Millennium Force t-shirt. Let me know you saw this in KICentral so I know your only half a looney and not a complete looney!
  3. I was at Cedar Point on Sunday. I got there plenty early for my ERT. I made the second train on MF in the front seat, then I hit Raptor, which was a walk on, front seated it too. Even got a Maverick ride in, all by 10:30am. Man I wish Kings Island had ERT's like Cedar Point. I mainly went there to get some T-shirts, see I'm going to Canada's Wonderland this year, and I got to show off my Ohio Pride. Behemoth might be the biggest coaster in Canada, but I just dont think it will touch the Force. I plan on weiring my MF shirt with it's stats when I ride Behemoth the first time. I love Canada, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to coasters, Ohio rules.
  4. Hey All, I was at the KICentral Event last year and had a great time. Just wondering will there be anything like that this year? Even if there isn't any behind the scene things to do this year, I think it would be cool to get together. I got to meet many of you last year and I thought it was a blast. Getting off work in the summer isn't so easy for me, the longer notice the better, for if there is a get together, the sooner I know about it the better.
  5. A friend of mine is a big bug collector and they are in season around Kings Island this year. I saw something in the paper up here in Columbus about it this year too.
  6. Ya, any chance of that happening again? Last year was a blast.
  7. I'm curious too. I'm sure Kings Island is like any other company in this great land which is to amit nothing! So What happen? Did you get them on flim recking your wheelchair?
  8. Ya I have been there this year, works just like your home park, no need to fart with Guest Relations. You even get there perks. Cedar Point's one hour ERT everyday of the season for some of there coasters is my favorite.
  9. I will amit it, I like to sing the blues if things are not right. I like to complain, today, June 1st, I can't. My buddy and me get to Kings Island around 9:50 am, I was a little concerned with how many cars were in the parking lot, but later found it not to be a issue at all, I forgot the waterpark is open now so much of that traffic was there. We front seated everything we rode today, first was Flight of Fear. We waiting about 5 mins for the front and that was the only wait. The lighting was the way it should be for the ride. Next up was Vortex, again a walk on. We hit The Beast next, yet again another walk on. Did I say anything about the weather? It couldn't of been any better. It was warm, yet not real hot. One can put on shorts and a T-shirt comfortablily. There was a breeze and it smelled of summer. My friend is a bug collector so he was real happy to see some and hear the 17 year locust. We are not having them up here in Columbus this year, it's a local thing. Next ride was the only one with a wait. Son of Beast had about a 20 min wait at this point. We rode in the blue train. Flight Deck was next, another walk on, then we did are first Aventure Express ride of the season for the hell of it, and found it to be more rough then old Sonny boy. We ended are day with one more Vortex ride which was another walk on. My bud collected a few locust for him to bring home(it's a hobby thing), and we were on are way home by 2 pm. I make many trips to the park each year, some with my friends and sometimes even alone, I find a few good coaster rides helps get out some of my aggrestion( Its what I use Sonny for). Point is I can almost always find something I could complain about, but today wasn't one of them. Perfect weather, walk on rides, good staff, no real bad guest to deal with, coasters seemed to be running on the fast side too. Going back to that job tomorrow doesn't seem so bad right now, I got my fix today!
  10. Canadian's tend to play by a different and mostly more kind set of rules. I been to Canada many times but never Canada's Wonderland. I'm going there this summer though, see how great that new coaster is!
  11. I usually sit in the front, but one time at CP while riding Millenium Force in the early evening it was a terrible ride. All the bugs were hitting us in the face and hair. Disgusting. I will now only ride MF in the front in the early morning then I take the 2nd seat or the last seat for the end or late evening ride. Ya MF is pretty bad with the bugs in the evening. I tend to do that coaster in the morning, for I like to ride it in the front, that first drop is just too killer to let someone else ride there!
  12. I'm going to miss Dominator, that was a great coaster, I hope it is loved in it's new home.
  13. it was maybe a 5 min wait, and 20 bucks to boot.
  14. Me and my friend both got calls and we both have season passes.
  15. It's been colder here in Columbus too. It sucks, I cant wait for shorts weather, which we are usually having right now.
  16. Ya you kinda fly thru those corkscrews! I would still do it, aleast once. Is this DF? If so where was it located? What park? Drachen Fire http://www.rcdb.com/id112.htm
  17. Ya Raptor had there's last year, I have one of the DVD's. The DVD itself sucked, only quick shots of you, with a bunch of other crap, even coasters from other parks thrown in. It's what keep me from buying one off of FOF last year. I heard folks complained about the video's and by the end of last season the videos were just of the people on that ride.
  18. Ya but just like the speed lanes, KI choice for rides are terrible. Cedar Point has ERT for a hour everyday of the season for there best coasters, Kings Island's doesnt touch that.
  19. Ya you kinda fly thru those corkscrews! I would still do it, aleast once.
  20. From what I have read it seems if that was the case. If you look at the layout of DF it has that B & M flavor, things you would never see on a Arrow coaster.
  21. Hey all, Maybe this has all ready come up but I notice that the camera's are gone on Flight of Fear. What, the on ride video only lasted one season? I wanted to get one this year just for the weird factor!
  22. And what about Drachen Fire? It was only 10 years old when it stopped operating. I was just talking about Kings Island, not Arrow rides in general. But yes, I would say Drachen Fire's demise was probably more closely related to bad design. Wasn't Drachen Fire to be built by B & M and they backed out, so Arrow got a coaster plan they didn't know what to do with. The corkscrew on the first drop looked really interesting, I wish I had a chance to ride it. So what, it didnt pass it's g-force test!
  23. Yep, the ERT's at Cedar Point are killer, wish KI had those.
  24. I don't know, I love Arrow but they did do X http://www.rcdb.com/id750.htm and Drachen Fire http://www.rcdb.com/id112.htm
  25. Arrow made a lot of stuff over a long period of time, some were great and some were junk! To me Vortex is one of the best Arrow loopers around and due to Vortex I have become a bit of a fan of arrow loopers even if some are more rough then your average woodie!. Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point, is a Arrow coaster even has a ACE sign for being the first to hit the 200 foot mark, even though to me it's a real big mine train coaster! Arrow has it's place in the history of coasters.
