  1. It's 7:30 here in Columbus and I'm loading up the truck. It's been 5 months for a coaster ride. I told folks at work I was going to have a meeting with my chiropractor this weekend, when they ask who he was I said "The Beast" and "SOB"!. Little rain is not going to stop me today!
  2. I'm not scared of a 30% chance of rain. 30% means there's a 70% chance it wont rain at all, and I have been there many times before with those kinda predictions and usally luck out really well.
  3. I'll be there opening day, Just hope the rain stays away. I been watching the weather all week, they have been wishywashy on the rain all week. I guess I'll load up the truck tomorrow morning and head out that way and hope for the best.
  4. Anyone know why CF made this call? I didn't care for the backward racer but it seemed to me that the line was just as long for the backward racer as for the forward one. if you ask me it's plain stupied.
  5. Well If Cedar Fair thought last year was slow, just wait. People are broke now, I look forward to many walk on's to rides this year.
  6. Ya I did a lot of Photo work for the Niagara Parks in the mid 90's and I must of passed that park at least 100 times and it seemed pretty dead all the time. Like GL kinda crowds. We are only going to the park for that one ride, and ya I see me going to that park once!
  7. Thanks all, ya I saw that on there web page too. Maybe when they built it it could hold those stats but not now. Remember we are talking Canada! From what I have seen there all flippin out about Behemoth, which if it was built here, would get some fanfair but when you have rides like MF, The Beast and SOB, it loses a little luster. I'm going to ride Behemoth becuase it's what I love about coasters, it's big and unique. That's also the same reason why I got to ride Dragon Mountain.
  8. My rollercoaster riding buddy and me are taking a trip to Canada next year just to ride Behemoth. We are also making a stop at Niagara Falls to ride Dragon Mountain at Marineland Theme Park. I been to Niagara Falls many times, even have some friends there but back in the day when I went there often I wasn't into coasters that much. Just wondering has anyone rode Dragon Mountain? I know it's a old Arrow looper. All the stats on that coaster on RCDB seems to make it out to a good coaster. Just wondering what others thought of that ride.
  9. I'm saving up right now, I got a trip to Canada's Wonderland planned for next year. I tend not to save for my Kings Island or Cedar Point trips for they are both day trips for me being that I live in Columbus. I also save money by not buying anything in the parks, I got my cooler out in the truck full of drinks and cold cuts.
  10. I would love another event, but I'm all for meeting up with anyone anytime at the park. I met a few of you at last years event, seemed like a pretty harmless bunch. There are many times I go to the park alone to get my rollercoaster fix, I would ride with just about anyone.

  12. I know GL's Scrambler was Junk. I been on better ones at the state fair.
  13. It's too bad, I still say the Dipper would do great at Kings Island. With Kings Island and there thing with wooden coasters I figure it would fit right in, as a peice of history that it is.
  14. I think your all missing really what's going on here. Bottom line CF is owned by Stock holders who want to make money off there stock, there opinions are the only ones that matter. I work for a company very much like it. The economy is going down hill in a big hurry, and I bet we see 5 dollar gas next summer. If anything I could see CF scaling back even more, it's busness.
  15. Well maybe tunnels is part of it, I'm sure they must of heard that from many people, cause it seems to me many folks have said something about it. SOB is fine just the way it is, but us fans of it feel it should get a little love being that it lost it's loop. This summer it seemed SOB was already bringing crowds so I could see that coaster becoming something big again. Maybe shed that bad carma a little more.
  16. I couldn't see how the cost of tunnels could be anywhere near the cost of a new hypercoaster.
  17. SOB needs a third train, I was there many times this summer and SOB's line was long and moving slow, and many times they would have 2 trains on a run while the station was empty, where they could of easily loaded a third train. I still say it needs a tunnel at the old loop spot, and I would even say tunnel the rosebowl at the bottom, a little bit like Daddy. You wouldn't be able to tell that your getting shaken so bad you can't focus if there was a tunnel there! Daddy can beat ya down pretty good, your just in the dark so you don't notice, maybe. I don't know, I like Kings Islands woodies, and I like them rough! That's the whole point of being on a woodie.
  18. I personally wanted to see the Dipper end up at Kings Island. It would fit right in with the most wooden coaster track in the world amusment park. I rode the Dipper this summer and I must say it was a really fun ride. The cars still had the old lap bars so there was tons of air time on it. I supose this might be better, if theres a buyer. If there is, I hope they take care of it, it needed a little love, but there will be a shadow arcoss my heart if it ends up a pile of rubble.
  19. Work a lot, so I can pay for my trip to Canada next summer so I can ride Behemoth. Work on my Model Railroad, maybe finish my model Scrambler and, well...... most of it isn't printable!
  20. I agree that Cedar Fair has to watch there money, but I think what has been saving SOB more then anything is the fact that it is still a record holder, I think if it was more like Top Gun or Face off it would of been long gone. Also, I would think SOB would be in more trouble if it wasn't so big, there not a lot of the park you can walk thru and not see it somewhere in the skyline. It would seemed to me that SOB was supose to be KI's MF, and the first drop is killer. I like woodies and there going to be rough. I like SOB and all it needs now as far as I'm concerned is a third train and a tunnel! Maybe use some theming from TR:TR if nothing else!
  21. I agree, but we must not forget KICentral day, that was killer, I hope CF remembers us in a good way, I would love to see something like that again.
  22. Well I stand at 6'2" and the back rest on those trains only go about halfway up my back. If I sit back in the bowl its like having daggers nailed in my back. Remember those trains were not designed for that coaster.
  23. I rode Sonny-boy today. It was a good ride. Hard braking almost to a stop on the mid-coarse brakes, and I don't feel it needs all that. I'm still pushing for a tunnel too in the old loop spot. I been experimenting too and found for those who find the rose bowl kinda too hard, if you pull yourself forward just a little so your back is no longer against the back rest when your going in the bottom half of the rose bowl that it really isn't very painful at all. I have done it a few times now where I just lean forward with help of the hand bar infront of me at bottom of the rose bowl and ride becomes very enjoyable. One thing I will also say I really like about SOB is the first drop, thats a really nice drop and it is what keeps me coming back to ride it over and over again.
  24. I was there today for my last visit of the year too. At first this morning I was abit worried, see I live a hour and half away and so I got up early and found ice to scrap off my truck. It was all up hill from there. My fellow rider and myself got to KI around 10:30 and was very pleased to see them passing out the CF Jackets. $40.00 dollar jacket? I think not but still it's free and on time so I'm not complaining. It was somewhat a long line waiting for the jackets and by the time we got in the Park it was 11:30. No worries, all rides were walk on's even though they only had 2 trains running on both Vortex and The Beast. There wasn't even a line for Sonny-boy. Its seemed all the woodies were running pretty fast and smooth today, or maybe that was becuase it tends to get a little cold this time of year and I think you notice that it a bit more at 60 MPH! Overall it was a killer day. We got 11 coaster rides in 3 hours before heading home. Kings Island, I will miss you, and I'll be there opening day next season.
