  1. even before COVID, FUN was not a good buy. Its revenue stream is basically limited to theme parks open for 4-5 months a year. I think 25 a share is high right now. If it got down to 20, I might be inclined to purchase a bit and see if it can get up to 30-40 a share in a year or 2. Otherwise, no thanks.
  2. This to me just seems horribly patchwork. They should just require them everywhere, except in relax zones or water rides. how can they expect their associates to enforce a mandate where you don't have to wear one in line, but do once you enter the station and on the ride? I'd expect to see this changed before too long.
  3. Realizing that the res requirement was dropped due to light attendance, hopefully they still have a way to limit the number allowed in. At least with the reservations (before they took the numbers down), one would know about how crowded the park would be on a given day. It's easier to social distance when there's 4-5k in the park than 10.
  4. Likewise, Gov. Holcomb just issued Indiana's mask mandate, effective 12:01 Monday morning. Executive Order will be signed tomorrow. Ages 2-up. Schools as well in grades 3-12, unless the classroom can be set up so that every desk is 3-6 feet apart. Some on here have been frequenting Holiday World, due to their lax mask policy. Effective Monday, masks will be now be required there as well.
  5. SIX sent me an online survey over the weekend, asking me to weigh my comfort level with various boo-fest scenarios at their parks this fall. Interestingly, every question asked me to presuppose that by October, there would be widespread access to a COVID vaccine. Also, the tilt of the questions made me think that, at least for them, boo season is going to consist of rides and outdoor mazes only, with some outdoor scarezones mixed in. It also seemed to indicate that scareactors would not nec be masked up, but would be separated from the groups walking through by a plexiglass barrier.
  6. Given the average age of the workforce, that's not possible. No reasonable parent would let their child work until 11 or 12 PM on a school night.
  7. Assuming cases rise, I don't see how that's possible-sure, you can space out groups, but in the dark, in close, closed environments, people are going to jam up (even with lowered attendance). Not to mention the scareactors, who couldn't scream or yell., unless masked up, which would take away from the experience. Masks or not, I'll be curious how the park handles this.
  8. My only beef is that they've been open for just a couple of weeks and a good number of markers are already coming up or have otherwise been removed (either through wear and tear or bored kids picking at them in order to loosen them). I too have noticed the vast majority wear masks properly, though there were a strong minority wearing them with their noses exposed. I did see security roaming around keeping an eye out for violators, which helped. Given the heat, I've also seen a good number of gaiters.
  9. 11-7 is one shift, thus minimizing the coming and going of associates. that said, a friend of mine works at KI and has told me of having shifts from 1-7 or 2-7, but between reduced capacity and keeping things to one shift, the park hours are what they are.
  10. Or, by not being able to see how many slots are open, perhaps that makes you more inclined to purchase FL+?
  11. I caught that as well. Why could that be one wonders? I have my suspicions...
  12. The Indiana State Fair "Lite"event that is slated to run from 7/31-9/6 (rides and food) has been shelved. The Marion County (Indiana) fair is still slated to open this weekend and run for 11 days, though.
  13. See above-the entirety of the park lies in a flood plain, and, given the frequency with which the Ohio floods, I don't see anyone paying top dollar for the land. What is the highest and best use for land in a flood plain that has a long history of such flooding?
  14. Be careful what you wish for..Universal Orlando built Volcano Bay across I-4 (the current dry parks are landlocked) and I still don't think people realize it's there.
  15. People have reported that despite signage indicating only 1 return ticket pp/pd, as long as tickets were available, they were handed out to everyone. I've also seen it reported that once it gets to be late afternoon, you don't need a ticket; you would just enter the que.
  16. Yes and No. The main reason is to discourage large congregations of people by a certain ride, so they inflate wait times to spread people out. It's a poorly kept secret of the (soon to be gone) FP+ system. Yet the park was utilizing return time tickets the very next day,..
  17. Sometime very soon I expect both DeWine and Holcomb to mandate mask wearing. Holcomb yesterday basically said to the people of the state that he wasn't going to ask again about wearing them.
  18. Holcomb said he has been in constant contact with IMS since March about this. The place seats 500k, so spacing 175k out shouldn't be an issue. The problem is that you have lots of folks that have sat together for years that will no longer be allowed to do so. For example, a group of 8 could be sat 4 in Turn 1 and 4 in Turn 3, which may as well be at the entrance to Orion given how massive the place is. The bigger issue is that the Indiana State Fair is hosting whats basically a 'best of' the fair for 6 weeks starting 7/31 featuring a full midway and food vendors. When asked about it, Holcomb didn't seem all that pleased about it (given that the fair was canceled, due supposedly to food vendors pulling out in droves), but said he'd have an update about it next week.
  19. they're staining it, not painting it. Typically, wood fences aren't painted, since paint peels easily in extreme weather. As to the social distancing- even if people can't (won't) stand 6 feet apart, wearing masks is much more important, since if everyone around you is wearing one, that greatly reduces the chance of contagion. As for first day park ops-think about what Disney went through with Rise of the Resistance-parking tolls filling up at 330 and 4 AM and Disney having to open the Studios at 5 AM, until they figured it out and didn't open the tolls until 6 AM and the park at 7. I was there on one of the first days of 7 AM openings to snag a spot and was thankful for it, instead of willy nilly opening the park at different times each day. They'll figure it out.
  20. I don't think its difficult to place a security guard at the que entrance allowing a certain amount in at a time. My guess is they will have the extended ques up (like for Haunt) to allow for social distancing. Once that fills up, they may temporarily rope off the area. Find out on 7/2, I suppose. To Shaggy's point, I can see 60+ min waits for Orion and maybe DB. Also, keep in mind that there will be those using FL that was prepurchased that will extend wait times. If the park reopens daily sales of them after a time, it'll be Katie Bar the Door for Orion.
  21. It's right across the street from GWL. The old tolls had a north and south entry each with room for 2 cars at a time. A few years back, those were demolished in favor of I believe an 8 or 10 lane toll with room for cars on either side (think the parking tolls at any Disney park)
  22. Read: "Don't expect wholesale changes, since we have a minimal budget". TOT in DL was only saved from the wrecking ball when Disney decided they could spend some $$$ and totally retheme it. This will not be that.
  23. I would suspect that a separator will be stationed outside the main que entrance to monitor the number of people allowed in line at one time.
  24. Given the drop in revenue due to COVID-19, I'd speculate that once the fence is up, we'll be looking at it for quite a while.
