  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe both Mrs. Puff's Boating School and an Addams Family dark ride were both ideas tossed around by Paramount before deciding on IJ:ST.

EDIT: If you're interested about The Addams Family ride, there was some great discussion on this website back in 2005.

Also on Mrs. Puff's Boating School:

  2. Thought I'd post some of the general park map improvements I noticed on Saturday while comparing the regular season map to the Haunt map

For one, "trees" have been added throughout the entire map!

    After:

Also, further detail has been added to the coaster tracks, such as "rails" and a little bit of shine. Maybe it's just me, but I also believe that Vortex is darker than it is on the current map. Dark blue paint job, anyone?

Finally, the loop has been added to Invertigo. Thank goodness

All in all, while I did like the park map from the regular season, I think these small added details make it look much nicer. Let's just hope they keep these improvements for next year's map

  3. While in line for Massacre Manor Saturday, a couple who had a few too many drinks asked me which haunts I preferred. After telling her about Urgent Scare and Tombstone TERROR-tory (don't judge) they asked which one was in the queue line for The Beast.

    I sighed.

  4. An example of a "real" 4-D attraction- the old ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter attraction at Magic Kingdom.

If comparing to this, I would not consider Spongebob to be a 4-D ride, but a 3-D attraction whose seats just happen to move.

EDIT: I just realized that the video doesn't do this much justice, but for whoever did not get the chance to ride this great attraction, you could feel the breathing and drops of saliva of the monster as he "moved" around the room. It was a really thrilling experience.
  5. A separate company owns the Spongebob movie you see in the Action Theater, so even though they got rid of the rest of their Nick themeing, they were not forced to get rid of the Spongebob movie. If the movie is still attracting customers and guests still enjoy it, there is no reason for them to purchase a new movie.

We have to remember that we as enthusiasts make up an incredibly small percent of the guests that Kings Island sees every day. While our opinion still matters to them, they are trying to please the general public, not the enthusiasts. If the public is happy, the park is going to continue to do what they are doing.

  6. I doubt the Son of Beast would get the treatment. It would be boring, unless they banked the helix at 114 degrees.

Who says they won't? There's nothing out there saying that they won't redo the ride and add crazy banked turns and completely change the layout. Heck, if Son of Beast does re-open, it may not be the same ride at all! ;)

  7. Two things:

1.) Maybe this is a tad far-fetched, but if this is a dino trail or something along those lines, could this be added to compete with the Creation Museum a few miles away? One of the main themes in the Creation Museum are dinosaurs/ancient reptiles and it features very large walk-throughs and sculptures. While the two may not even be in the same business, it's something to think about.

2.) In the background of the new teaser subsection of the website, I noticed it looks much like a swamp, as do the pictures posted in the photo gallery. Could this be an alligator/crocodile themed ride?

    Or maybe I'm just crazy.

  8. This one was actually really tough for me. I was stuck between Raven and Voyage.

I just love Voyage an unhealthy amount, but my last few rides on it made me feel like my spine was being ripped out of my back. I can only ride it in the first few rows without having that feeling! But those first few rows are great!

Raven is just plain fun. This is the coaster that proves to me that you don't have to have a 150 ft.+ tall roller coaster to have a top ten roller coaster. It was also one of the first few wooden roller coasters I've ridden, giving it some sentimental value.

    Good poll!
