  1. I found this interesting...

Kiextreme.com- "Halloween Haunt continued its upward climb on the charts, this year ranking as the fifth-best Halloween event on the planet."

Dang, i did not know we were THIS good o.0 lol

    It's not. Really.

  2. Actually, I really believe a new kids attraction of some sort would be really good for Holiday World, especially for families with small children.

Look at it; they're competing with Kings Island; home of one of the best (if not the best) kids areas in the nation, and Six Flags St. Louis; while they may not have one of the best areas in the world, they do have a much bigger kids' area than Holiday World does.

Also, we have to remember that Holiday World appeals to families, not just thrill seekers. Honestly, when was the last time the little kids got something big?

  3. What do you think they are going to do with the loop? Do you think they will keep is as a memorial? Personally, I feel it could take up some valuable space to the supposed "flats" we are supposed to receive.

This comment on Facebook sort of made me disappointed.

"The only piece left of this memorable roller coaster is in the way of our supposed new rides!"

  4. Fair officials said they doubted that a $2 higher fee to park at the fairgrounds or the unavailability of Kentucky Kingdom as part of the midway affected attendance.

This one caught me off guard. I'm not sure how things are in Kentucky, but here in Indiana, the Midway is a pretty large reason as to why the fair attracts so many people year after year, among other things.

I personally believe this would contribute to a fairly large drop in attendance. I, for one, had never been to SFKK, but I would imagine it would draw sizable crowds around state fair time, especially with it being part of the midway.

  5. I'm pretty pleased with the website itself, actually. It's navigation isn't confusing and is very aesthetically pleasing. Whoever the graphic designer(s) was/were did a good job with this site!

It is interesting that they would create a new website layout a few months after releasing new websites for many of the parks. It makes me wonder if this will eventually be the layout for the rest of the websites or not.

  6. ^ I agree. I remember being in line for Urgent Scare last year with two kids who couldn't have been older than 12, with no parent/guardian nearby. They ended up going into the maze with us.

Maybe I'm just totally missing something, but why doesn't Kings Island warn people more that Haunt is not a place for kids? Maybe they do and I just miss it, but I never see enough enforcement about age-appropriateness.

Or maybe there is plenty and guests just completely blow it off.

  7. Welcome!

If I were in your situation, I would probably not take a ten year old to Haunt. It is scary. It is a lot of fun, but if your child is scared easily by things such as; people jumping at you, blood, gore, etc., then I would definitely not take her. I would probably not recommend it for kids 12 and under, actually.

  8. See, that's the kind of thing I'd love to offer to Kings Island's staff - I would not only gladly discuss something like this with them, I would REALLY like to! It would be virtually cost-free in the scheme of things, and likely, greatly improve guest experience... It's very frustrating that they won't even hear us out when the things we have to say are not expensive, not crazy, and not unrealistic... :( I truly feel disheartened, which is about the worst thing you can feel with an amusement park.

Which is the reason why 5@5 was such a brilliant idea. It gave the park guests/fans a way to communicate their stresses, concerns, and ideas. It's really a shame that such a great program had to be taken away. It was a great way to contact the park about things guests cared about.

Things come and go, I guess.

  9. I went this summer to Holiday World on the Tuesday after the Fourth of July and the place was packed. Voyage had a half hour wait in the morning and was the first woodie I rode when I got to the park. Both Raven and Legend had 1 hour + lines. That afternoon, however, Raven and Legend both had less than a half an hour wait. I'd expect it to be the same way on a Saturday.

Basically, wait 'til late afternoon if you don't want insane lines for the roller coasters. Also, don't miss out on Liberty Launch and Gobbler Getaway, especially if it is a warm day out!

Also, if you get the chance, take a ride on Frightful Falls. I personally prefer it to Pilgrim's Plunge, and the wait is nearly as long!

I don't know if you have any little ones going with you, but I'd definitely check out Holidog's Fun Town if you do! It's a small area, but it's packed with fun things for little kids!

Also, the Lewis & Clark Trail is a great ride to just sit back and relax, especially if you've finished all of the coasters.

Food wise, I definitely prefer Plymouth Rock Cafe. Great food for a super low price! If you're not in the Thanksgiving vicinity however, I prefer Goblin Burger's chicken strips. Good stuff!

  10. Ironically, my worst park experience has also been on of my best -

    Holiday World

As much as I adore this park, we had a really bad experience a few years back.

We went a few years back and the customer service was absolutely atrocious to both my family and others. We weren't sure if we had come on a bad day or what, so we turned around and went to Kings Island instead.

    True story.
