  1. It was April 26, 2022 (one year ago today) when KI announced the return of concerts to Timberwolf for the '22 season.

Do we think we will see an announcement soon on more shows this year?  Or KI learned they dont want to be in the concert business?

I attended the Daryl Hall and Berlin shows last year.  I thought it was a decent place to watch shows and while neither show was packed I thought the crowds were at least okay.

I did think they did a good job in targeting acts that attract a mature crowd with lots of $$ to spend.  The group in front of me at Daryl Hall dropped enough money on alcohol to pay for Hall's appearance that night.

Interesting to see if anything is announced in the next few days?

Edited to add: Many many years ago in another lifetime I was head of risk management and also part of the team that developed our security protocols for a very large entertainment venue.  So I do have some knowledge on the topic.

Interested to hear your thoughts on all of this. In my two trips this year I noticed a serious lack of “security”. Other than at the metal detectors I saw NO one inside the park with a shirt identifying them as security. That being said what I witnessed in person and on video makes me think the people fighting are not going to be deterred by a 19 - 20 year old kid with a security shirt and a radio.

I agree, this seems to be mostly a one off incidence. If this keeps happening sure institute new policies but this situation really seems to be blown out of proportion in some respects, especially with the video calling it an “extremely violent brawl”. While having fights in an amusement park is despicable, this fight didn’t seem like it put any guests in danger besides the ones engaging with the fight.

I have seen videos of at least four separate incidents that happened yesterday. I also personally witnessed a “brawl” while leaving the park last Saturday (May 15) just outside the metal detectors. This isn’t “one” random fight. And one of the videos i saw happened in a quite crowded line for Delirium. When guests just standing in a queue with no place to escape to get caught in a melee  then you have a real problem.

I only saw one person smoking all day in the park, and I even purposefully checked out all the old smoking areas just to see if I could find anyone.  They were hiding in the bushes inbetween Invertigo's exit and the rest rooms there at the old smoking area.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed any violators since the new policy.

Yes. Saw a woman by The Beast with one. She was trying to hide it between drags but the smell was everywhere. The more disappointing part was watching the security guard walk right past her and keep on going.

The "plot" is too large, visible, and "prime" to leave empty long term.

    This.

And what is the earliest that something goes in that spot? 2023?  So you are looking at 3 full seasons with a big empty hole in a prime location.

While I am sure there is a plan - it does seem odd to announce a removal with nothing imminent to take its place.  When Firehawk left - everyone assumed it was for the 2020 project.

Yes, but are the concession wagons going to sell the little plastic barrels of juice? That would up the game from my childhood (I feel like that's what they sold; I could very well be misremembering).

These?  I loved these when I was a kid (I'm old now) and no one seems to remember them.  It seems as if there were several flavors shaped like the respective fruit?  Orange, apple?

its going to be quite cramped because the killmart building was confirmed to be staying where its at

Ugh!  That building is an absolute eyesore.  I was hoping the cars would encompass the icee building that's never open as well as this old arcade building.  I am glad to see the return of this ride but I hope they don't cram it in a tiny space - it should be done right.

  8. Sounds like a dining room logistics nightmare. A ticket is printed in the kitchen (on the ground). Cooks make the food. The food is then either carried up 50 feet (5-10 minute walk?) or up an elevator (2-3 minutes). Then its put under a warming light till someone is capable of taking the food to the table. If something is wrong/etc then well thats a nightmare. Not to mention drinks. 6-10 minutes just for a drink to return (under a no wait situation).

Does the elevator even stop (able to stop) at the 50 foot platform?

One giant tray, a rope, and a couple employees who want an arm workout all summer. Done!

  9. It is interesting that "breaded chicken tenders, wraps, and salads" sounds similar to the menu selections at a well known chain restaurant that operates in the park. One that isnt necessarily open every day of the week....

  10. There used to be a ride in the kids area (my son rode it in roughly 03-04) that was basically a small handcart that the child propelled thru the course with their own power - using their arms to turn a crank. The problem was that any kid who was big enough to pedal it around the track was really too big to be riding it. So you ended up with tiny kids riding it who could not get it thru the whole course. So eventually the workers would have to come over to the child, bend over and push them the rest of the way thru the course. Even for 16-18 year old kids that had to be a very sore back at the end of a shift!

  11. I am currently out 643.96 dollars that has not been put back in my account as of the end of business today. I had 3 charges and each one hit my account 12 times. Luckily for me my bank account had enough money to cover those charges (it doesn't always) but I am sure many people ended up with insufficient fund charges. I did speak to KI today and I am hoping the money is back in my account tomorrow morning but talk about a major inconvenience.

  12. My guess is that the detector installation was blamed on 9/11, but had more to do with the racial tension- is sounds better to blame it on an issue that is known nationwide vs. issues that happened in KI's backyard.

Especially since the detectors were installed in 2003, and 9/11 was in 2001. The timing does not add up.

The riots over the shooting of Timothy Thomas (the Cincinnati race riots) were in April of 2001. That timing doesnt add up either.

  13. At 8:15, we went to get a blue ice cream in Planet Snoopy and after being given one cup of ice cream I was told that they were out of spoons. I was told that I could go to the hamburger place next door and get a fork to eat my ice cream with but that they were out of spoons and couldnt get anymore.

Out of spoons on day one?

Other than that we had fun but it was definitely crowded.

  14. This morning I watched Drop Tower start to wake from its long winter slumber. Interesting in that the whole "mechanism" slowly rose to the top, but then did not drop the seating bowl. It just came slowly back down the tower.

Signs of life after a long winter. Every day my 4 year old asks me how many days until he can ride the "scary ride with the skeletons"!

  15. I drove past the park on my way back from lunch. Saw what looked like men working on FD. I pulled into GWL parking area and sure enough I saw 3 guys with rollers working. And of course I had left my phone back in my office so no pictures.
