  1. I dont know, Ive visited both halfs of that park before they merged (Family Land and Big Chief) and was thoroughly disappointed with the staff, and maintenance. Not only that, but their admission price is in my opinion really high for what they offer ($30 is their starlight ticket.) Didnt see the 3 hours part, but if I only had three hours in the Dells my choices would have been more along the lines of taking a Ducks cruise followed by a meal at Pizza Pub, or if I was with someone a mini golf game and a ride on Avalanche at Timber Falls (followed by a meal at Pizza Pub.)
  2. Theme Park 101: -Walt Disney World (the list could just stop here) -Universal Orlando -A Sea World (pick one) -Busch Gardens Williamsburg -Holiday World -Dollywood or Silver Dollar City Amusment Park 101: -Hersheypark -Kennywood -Cedar Point Water Park 101: -Schliterbahn New Braunfels (the original and still the best) -Noah's Ark -Splashin' Safari -Water Country USA Park Going 202 (just not quite good enough to make the 101 courses but parks that I thoughly enjoyed): -Dollywood or Silver Dollar City (ie the one you didnt visit during 101) -The Other Two Sea Worlds -King's Island -Six Flags Fiesta Texas -Canobie Lake Park -Six Flags Over Georgia -Six Flags Over Texas -Kalahari Indoor Waterpark (either in WI Dells or Sandusky)
  3. CP's frontier carousel building is now a haunt location, I doubt they would bring it back there.
  4. So, looking at the thrown away comment... What CF park needs a carousel? Im guessing not CP (has 3,) KI (has 2,) and CGA.
  5. Sundays are a mixed bag, if Saturday had bad weather then expect Sunday to be pretty crowded. On the other hand, some of the deadest days Ive been to parks has been Sundays so its really a toss up.
  6. From this ex-Wisconsites opinion you made the wrong choice, should have gone a few blocks more and frequented Noah's Ark instead. Sure it doesnt have a coaster (a Go Gator is not a coaster in my opinion,) but its cleaner, better run and the largest water park in America and home to the longest water coaster in the world.
  7. Its incredibly sad news, that coaster holds a lot of personal significance for myself and my family, it also is in my opinion not only the best suspended ever built but the best night time steel coaster ever too. Heres hoping they know what they are doing, because that park is removing a coaster with a 42" height limit, and if a B&M flyer takes its place it will have a 54" height limit, making 4 out of the 6 coasters off limits to people under 54" tall, not something smart for a family park like BGW to do if you ask me. Also, I know own a shirt (Fear the Four) that has not one but two extinct coasters on it.
  8. Well obviously do the coasters. Phantom's Revenge, Exterminator, Thunderbolt, Racer and Jack Rabbit. Other flat rides you should ride: -Kangeroo -Whip -Ghostwood Estates -Noah's Ark -Auto Race -Turtle -Paratroopers -Aero 360 -Bayeran Kurve -Chosmic Chaos Also in terms of a POA, get there for opening and do the Phantom, followed by Exterminator, those are the two rides most likely to have a long line.
  9. It is both an old TV show and a new TV show (there was a remake in the 90s.) Here is the 90s intro: I think you will find the voice very familiar to this (starts at 31 sec mark):
  10. Im assuming you wont both have Platinum/resort benefits. Maverick, MF, and Raptor are all open to resort guests and Platinum pass holders 1 hour before opening, and thus will all have substantial lines. Your best bet is TTD first. Also Maverick is more then a mile away from the main entrance (Im not joking it literally is to give you a comparison CP's size is about the size of Epcot.) Also, I ask you to reconsider your choice of entrance, I guarantee that you will have less of a walk to your car if you go the Resort entrance route.
  11. Its not easier to get out of, its at one end of the park. I would suggest the Resort enterance, you get placed in the middle of the park, and you actually get out quicker at the end of the night since the attendants give preference to perimeter road traffic.
  12. The question is what ride do you want to ride first? Also what ride do you want to ride last? Every entrance has a ticket booth. Main Entrance: Near Raptor, just follow the parking attendants and the mass of humanity its not hard to find Marnia Entrance: Near MF, park in the main lot. Then walk towards the Blue Streak's turnaround you will notice a blue pathway following the perimeter road, walk up it and youll reach the Marnia enterance. Resort Entrance: Near Magnum, Maverick, and TTD. You need to park in the Soak City Lot for this one, to do so make sure you pull up to the far left booth or if you cant do that try to get as left as possible. If you got into that far left lot, go straight down the perimeter road past Blue Streak, MF, Maverick and Mean Streak until you can take a left by Gemini, thats your lot. If you cant make it to the far left parking booth, put on your left blinker and try to get as left as possible before the first parking attendant, he will direct you left, then take a right on the perimeter road. Entrance is right behind Magnum's lift. Beach Entrance: Near Wicked Twister. You need to park in the Soak City Lot for this one too (see above.) To get to this entrance walk towards the Breakers Hotel and then go inside and follow the path to TGI Fridays, walk out onto the boardwalk and walk towards WT.
  13. Add Ferris Wheel, Tilt a Whirl, Paratroopers, Whip
  14. They are considered "water coasters" though. just type in water coaster into google images. You'll get the amusement ride and the water slide on the first page.
  15. There are two types of water coasters, those made by Mack and Intamin that feature boats and a portion of the ride that is similar to a kiddie coaster with the other portion being similar to a log flume and the type made by NBS and Proslide that are water slides that have a portion that go up hill. Obviously the type being discussed here would be the former, not the latter.
  16. Some of us have a trash can conveniently located in their car...
  17. Because Coke offered a better deal, and they have to pay to convert half their parks over to one beverage or the other anyways.
  18. I never said anything about a day time picnic. I do that all the time (at amusement parks and football games.) But the no reentry only goes into effect at 7pm.
  19. Those cynics are also weirdos for thinking most people want to picnic in a poorly lit parking lot at 8-10 at night.
  20. There is a vastly different audience that goes to the Haunt compared to the normal park crowd. And seriously, you cant stay in the park from 7-1? I know I have no problems, heck go and eat before you go to the park and you shouldnt need to eat again.
  21. I doubt your Beast time, as Ive waited from the Crypt and timed it and it was an hour and 45 minutes. That was during the Haunt, and the crew was cranking out the trains too. You sure Raptor was a full queue, or was only the far left switchbacks open (without the right horizontal switchbacks open) because I also know from experience that that line, when totally full is a 2.5 hour line.
  22. 6 Wooden Coasters: The Beast The Voyage A GCI Coaster with MF trains (Personal Pick-Thunderhead @ Dollywood) A John Miller Coaster (Personal Pick-Jack Rabbit at Kennywood) A Schmeck Coaster (Personal Pick-Canobie Lake's Yankee Cannonball) A John Allen Coaster (Personal Pick-Blue Streak) As for the steel coasters: Magnum XL 200 A B&M Invert Bizzaro @ SFNE As much as I dog it, Top Thrill Dragster
  23. No it doesn't. Also, Starlight is so good that I stop my night time riding to walk through it every time I'm there, very few night shows (most of them being located in a certain set of parks just south of Orlando) are good enough for me to do that. Also, courtney you missed TTD/Magnum ride night! It was sweet, I managed 13 rides on Magnum (11 in a row, 2 trimless) and one ride on TTD during the Platinum Pass ERT.
  24. I also believe you. I think the main thing most of us are trying to tell you, is that even though you had good luck on Saturday up until this weekend you should expect this every time you go on a Saturday (because you should always plan for the worst case scenario while hoping for the best.) If you want to drastically reduce your chances of running into a crowd like this you should choose to not go on a Saturday. If you can only go weekends, Sundays are a much better choice, in fact you can sometimes luck out and have the park be dead on a Sunday.
  25. Also 2008 corresponds to the return of Bill Kirk from Geagua Lake. CP operations were in a slow dive ever since he left, but as soon as he returned they immediately turned around.
