  1. I'm not very good at dating pictures at all, especially when it's pictures like that where there are no obvious landmarks or references. Besides perhaps the lack of Invertigo which signifies pre-1999, however that's obvious. I'm going to guess sometime in the 1980's, perhaps later in the decade? I could be way off though.

  2. It has always personally kind of bothered me that the rides name is Son of Beast. Technically, we are calling it The Anti-Christ.

Technically, we're calling it the offspring of the 1979 Wooden Coaster, The Beast. I'm sure that any religious connotations carried by the name are completely coincidental, like most of the "Ungodly" things people manage to find in the park.

  3. I didn't really hear him say anything that could pertain to Son of Beast. How many wood coasters are there in the US alone that could be eligible for this treatment? It's like being at a basketball game, and the lucky halftime winner is in section 132, and you think "Hey, I'm in section 132!.....along with a couple hundred others...." It'll be very interesting to see where they go with this and what they do with it, but I wouldn't hold my breath that it's for Son of Beast.

  4. "Rumor Coaster for 2009" takes the cake by far. The topic apparently no longer exists, so I can't link directly to it, but I remember it being easily a couple to several hundred pages long. It was started at the end of the season 2007 and closed August 6, 2008.

  5. I really doubt we see Mr. Ouimet's influence in larger additions / subtractions for another couple of years. Long term plans are put into effect up to five years in advance. All we're left to ask is, if Crypt is leaving, when was the decision made?

  6. For whatever reason, our group rode it yesterday. The state it's in is so pathetic it's actually laughable. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if it is on its way out. I really don't see what's left for Cedar Fair to do with it.

  7. To be fair, it's been roughly 2 years and 3 months. And the thing that's ridiculous about the discussion is that it's seemingly coming from no where. In the last two years, Son of Beat's box has been removed, its entry has been removed, its station turned into a Haunt and its image taken off the map. Other then that, it has literally been collecting dust for two years. Yet somehow, people can still fill over 1,000 posts about something that's stagnant.

  8. Darn, I was looking forward to watching sweaty, bleeding midgets subject themselves to weapons used by state troopers on people who are violent and resist arrest. Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to do with sweaty, bleeding midgets violently hitting each other with ladders and chairs while subjecting themselves to devices used to kill rats and hang paper on walls. But it's just not the same, you know?

  9. When Kings Island posts nothing but ads for discount days on their blog, it's easy to miss the rare moments of valuable information that crops up on it:

The Kings Island Hall of Fame is located on International Street by the Kings Island Theater, directly across from Keyhole Photo. Check it out during your visit to the park this weekend.

  10. This one is much more blatant than the one last year.

This was the setup last year. It associated "My Beloved Son" with 3 other woodies - Hercules, which was removed, Texas Giant, which received an extensive overhaul, and Rattler, which has had trims added and its drop shortened. If they were to signify the fate of Son of Beast, it left 3 possible options. Removal, overhaul, or neutering.

Compared to this year, which is a lot more straight forward: Son of Beast, or "My Unloved Son," instead of being off to the side, is right in the middle of a pack of wooden coasters. Cyclone, Villain, Screechin Eagle, Big Dipper and Raging Wolf Bobs. All removed. If they were to signify the fate of Son of Beast......well, the casket's there waiting.

  11. This rumor has been around since before I was alive. No joke. Every time we think it dies, it manages to dig itself back up every time Vortex closes for maintenance or whenever the GP gets bored.
