  1. Looks like the ride carriage is off the ground, with the cranes still working on them...what this means I don't know, however....
  2. I just got back from getting my pass processed...wow, that thing is enormous! You can't look at it and think it will be tame, it's monstrous! 13 days!
  3. Xtreme Skyflyer and Slingshot are quite old, relatively speaking.....
  4. That, sir, is the best idea you've had yet. Son of Beast closed in Summer of 2009. It's Spring of 2011. By now, practically everyone, Son of Beast lovers and haters, have learned to move on and accept the fact that it's been pretty much dead for nearly two years now. At this point, if Kings Island does anything with it, or even is nice enough to tell us about it beforehand, consider it a pleasant surprise.
  5. The entrance will go from Coney Mall to under The Racer, in between the Euro Bobbles and the restrooms.
  6. Kings Island removed the ride's sign and replaced it with flowers and trees. They removed a lot of its queue. They took it off the map. They removed it from their site. They delete posts about it from their Facebook page. They freaking used its station as a Haunt maze. Give it up. It's not opening this year.
  7. I greyed out on Backlot and Vortex last year a few times, which was kinda weird for me, since I never had much problem with them before. Basically you get tunnel vision, your sight goes grey, blurred, etc. Temporary lack of blood to the head is what causes it, I believe.
  8. Cool PTR, Ty. Dollywood is one of my favorite parks, nice to see some pictures of it, brings back some good memories. From your opinions, I feel like I really need to shell out the money for trip on the zipline next time! Thanks for posting!
  9. Because it has three drops at the end that are free drops, and the train is not being powered through the course there, it's technically a roller coaster. (By almost all definitions)
  10. Sure does, it received it's ferris wheel cycle Mid-May 2009, weekend after Ride Warriors I believe.
  11. Even if you used that criteria, Blazing Fury would not be a roller coaster...though it's almost unanimously agreed that it is....
  12. I thought there were 4.....Kings Island, Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, and Knotts Berry Farm? Anyhow, the tower looks beautiful completed! I can't wait to ride it!
  13. Do I like the new map? No, I much prefer the older one. Do I really care that much? No, it's just a map. Yeah, it sucks that Kings Island is much more exaggerated, colorless, and treeless, but come on, it's a map. Kings Island itself is just the same as last year, if anything, it's much better. Who here uses a park map anyway? And honestly, who cares? Enjoy the park. Happy April!
  14. Perhaps it's just me, perhaps not, but I found Voyage to be extremely painful to ride when I rode it last year. 2010 was the first year I had been to Holiday World, and other than the front seat (Which is the most incredible coaster experience of my life so far) it just plain hurt. Jackhammering, side to side force, violence, who knows, I just know that by the midcourse I was hoping for the ride to be over. I am disappointed to see that the Timberliners won't be there for 2011, as I was really hoping to be able to sit in a seat besides 1. At least Holiday World is taking the consideration to buy more cars and put full 7 car trains back on and such, most chains wouldn't do that. I've got to wonder what the deal is holding up the Timberliners for over a year now. As to the Voyage vs. Beast debate, I have to say I haven't ridden Beast in a rear wheel seat in years, and can't really attest to its ride there, but the middle row seats are quite smooth and enjoyable, and the front row on Beast I actually found to be....thrilling! *gasp*
  15. I've always wondered why Dippin Dots gets a massive, centered and decorated sign, while the train gets but a small "Entrance" sign. I agree, replace the Dippin Dots sign with a decent KIMVRR sign. By the way, thanks for the pictures, Paul! They're really great and it's nice to see them!
  16. I think it will feature haunted mazes, roamers, artificial fog, and live shows. I also think it will start late September, and run through till the end of October, starting at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights, running until 1 am. I also think I will only be visiting once or twice, then enjoying the much milder crowds that can be found on Sundays in October. Call me crazy, but yes, I am predicting that much, this early. By the way, why is this in "Other Amusement Park and Industry News?"
  17. I've been starting to wonder about that myself. Kings Island has said several times that Action Theatre will remain open this year, despite the addition of WindSeeker. However, they're still yet to pour the concrete that would extend the midway to it's entrance. And by judging from this picture: It looks like WindSeeker basically blocks it's original entrance all together. I wonder if they'll have to redo the entrance to get it to work? We'll just have to wait and see. The new pics make me want to ride it even more! Can't wait till Opening Day!
  18. Again, I find myself wishing this forum had a "like" button....way to go, Cincy Zoo!
  19. Exactly. I think the classification of this as a Thrill Ride is pretty fair. For all those who think this is still pretty tame, look at it this way: Imagine what it's like at the top of Drop Tower. Now imagine there's just a lap bar. Now imagine you're tilted 45 degrees, dozens of feet away from the tower itself. Now imagine you're spinning at 30 mph. Think it's not thrilling now? I can't wait to ride this thing!
  20. This addition to the tower will make it roughly as tall as Diamondback, and taller than Son of Beast. Nice
  21. Second web cam has been panned out more, and the crane has been put back up: Talk about huge!
  22. Where in it does it "Coast?" To my knowledge (Someone correct me if I'm wrong), Surf Dog is powered throughout the whole ride, and never coasts freely on it's own. In my book, that doesn't let it be a 'coast'er. Blazing Fury, for example, is, though, because it has several drops where the train is free to ride on it's own.
