  1. How much time do you really take out of your day to observe security? I wonder how many park rules would be broken if you were one of the handful of guards trying to make tens of thousands of people follow each rule? Some people don't follow rules no matter what security is there. When was the last time you heard a child was abducted from Kings Island, a rape, murder, major assault, robery, or any other major felony happened at the park? That is the things I am concerned about and if you take in consideration, you may change your statement.
  2. Oil prices are falling again today! Woohoo! As of this moment, it is down nearly $4 a barrel!
  3. You have to remember that these security guys and gals can be as young as 18 years old. Yes, we consider that age an adult, but I am sure that it can be a little intimidating to go up to someone alot older than them and enforce polices. Though working in a security position you should be able to handle this type of situation, you have to remember that some of them are just kids picking up some extra money before school starts again in the fall. I am actually kind of impressed with security because I don't know when I last saw a major felony occur there (other than that Nascar Craftsman Truck Driver with dope who they caught!) Give them a little credit for that! I will endure the people who smoke where they aren't supposed to and the disrespectful line jumpers because of that, because it seems petty in the grand scheme of things.
  4. I did not state that you were the one yelling at anyone. Though it is sad that a toddler was almost run over, it is a little bit of an unfair comparison. No matter where people are with moving vehicles there are potential dangers. Point being though, I can not remember a time where I have heard of someone being struck in the parking lot by a vehicle when the person was just walking to the front gate. There will never be a 100% full proof plan to keep an accident from occuring. Imagine how many cars go in and out of those gates during the year. I would say KI's parking lot safety record is very respectable. I, personally, don't mind a few extra minutes in the parking lot to go with the program and ensure everyone's safety.
  5. I don't see too many ways you can direct traffic towards gold pass parking without encountering some foot traffic. When was the last time you heard on the news that someone was in the parking lot and struck by a vehicle while walking towards the park? I would have to say to just take a chill pill. I am sure there are some new security folks out there that are still learning the traffic patterns so give them awhile and maybe they will come up with something that suits the situation better. Either way, the poster complaining about this needs to file complaints correctly and not "chew someone out." You are lucky you didn't get turned right back around and sent home depending on your language use. As for the smoking, sometimes not everyone smoking where they aren't supposed to will be caught. There is a lot of folks out there who do go to the designated areas, but there are some who completely ignore the rules. That happens in just about everything in life. I have seen security give warnings to guests about smoking and have them move to designated areas, but there only so many of them and tens of thousands of guests on a given day.
  6. The second L in Thrill is missing. If you think that is bad you should take a look at the sign infront of BB. There are many errors on it with some being fixed, others not.
  7. Actually there was a run last year which began in the parking lot, went through the hard park, then through BB, and finishing back out in the parking lot. It was a run for children with an illness I can not remember at the present moment.
  8. Kings Island: Something to do while your mom goes to college!
  9. Check out this video for the Screamin Demon in motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho-Y15gkdu8
  10. Did anyone else see that the City of Mason was taking down the "Paramount's Kings Island" part of the roadsigns on Kings Island Drive yesterday?
  11. Or we can just have Scotty beam us to different locations! LOL!
  12. Were those thousands injured riding SOB? 4 people die each year out of all the rides across the country. To me, it sounds like that is a pretty good safety record. Adding extra laws now would just cost tax payers and possibly park goers extra cash.
  13. Those poor little parking lot security guards would have a heck of a time peddling their bikes up a parking garage! LOL!
  14. I could see this being discussed if Kings Island had a big problem with parking, but it doesn't. Yeah, if you go on a crazy busy day, you may have to walk for awhile, so what?
  15. The unfortunate event occured when the worker decided to get out of the vehicle and use the restroom. I guess that, "Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now" commerical would have fit in with this.
  16. I hope KI adds some later closes into the regular operating season. Though, I think some folks thought that the parks closed later than 10 anyway when Firehawk arrived. One night I got in line at 9:59PM and didn't ride till 11:20PM. Sorry employees!
  17. I remember that, This is the pic from the auction: I think i saw my buddy's chiuaua look like that before!
  18. If you look at the main sign, the spacing is a little awkward. Makes it look like it says, TOM BRAIDER: THE RIDE. They should just call it that. Which sounds not too far off from TOM BRADY: THE RIDE. I guess it would make sense then that the ride is a joke.
  19. They still have the signs from when the people from the Survivor show were there. I am sure it is floating around somewhere.
  20. I am sure that KI's will look very similar to this one. I am getting tired of looking at the KI sign in its current state. Looks like a giant field goal post!
  21. I went to the park twice in April this year and both times the lines were few, if any. I think it makes it kind of nice for any new employees to get their feet wet before the summer crowds hit. Pretty cool that they will be open on Fridays in May. I also heard rumor that October's operating days have expanded as well. If so, I guess we will be seeing alot more of the games being ran by full-timers.
  22. First let me say that I agree with you about guns having no place in an amusement park, with the exception of the park police officers. This has been a hot topic on why people should be able to carry arms in public places as of late with all of the shootings around the nation. Right now a business can prohibit guns on their premises, like KI does. But the argument is that a sign isn’t going to keep a person who wants to go into somewhere like a mall and open fire on a larger crowd from doing it. If you think about it, those signs render the customers of that business helpless in a situation like the one that happened in Omaha. The only real difference between a mall and an amusement park is that most parks take that extra step to provide safety and to prevent this type of incident from happening at an amusement park (example: metal detectors & park police). Malls don’t have metal detectors at every entrance (at least not yet). I have some serious doubts about metal detection coming to malls anytime soon. I think some mall management may think it will drive away business. Plus, think how many metal detection areas you will need in your local mall if all the anchor stores entrances and mall entrances had metal detectors there. I couldnt imagine the chaos of Black Friday or any holiday shopping for that matter. I went to the Dayton Mall on last Saturday and I noticed a few police officers walking around, but thats nothing new from previous holiday shopping seasons that I have seen there.
  23. How do you accidentally forget a gun is in your purse? I am sure there are multiple signs stating no weapons before you get to the gate like she did. At KI, there are signs before you can pay for parking. This, my friends, is why I am glad that we have metal detection. Yes, it takes extra time to get into the park, but it makes me feel alot better that the only ones who have guns in the park is the police.
  24. If KI was open 24 hours a day, would you clear out everyone by midnight so they would have to buy the next day's ticket or swipe their season pass again? Not that it will ever happen. I could also see people trying to set a record of staying at KI the longest.
  25. I took out a small loan so my wife and I could eat at TGI Friday's at Cedar Point! LOL! How much again for a salad?
