  1. Bump. Are KI lifeguards paid more than ride ops?

Also, what is the wage for Kaman's Art Shoppes employees?

Is it larger than KI Ride Ops?

That is the kind of information that employees are not allowed to give out. I happen to know the wages because that was my job, but i can assure you there are relatively few of us who know, and no one who would tell. The only way to find out would be to interview and get the job, really.

As for Kamans, no clue- they are their own company.

  2. Uh, no. I love working at Kings Island.

I think he's referring to the video...it's well done, but I mean c'mon, it's pretty cheesy.

Cheesy it may be but those people were all volunteers- they did not have to do it. They wanted to! it was fun making it, regardlesss of whether you think it was well done or not. That was a lot of people getting out of their comfort zones to try and inspire others to join them. I know I sound like a broken record (but hey, recruiting was part of my job :) ) but it really can be fun working there. Im not going to get into the specifics, but things like this video made associates excited to be a part of something larger than themselves. Besides the video, there are NUMEROUS other perks and incentives and celebrations involved in being an employee.

  3. I am working at Kings Island. I won't announce the position, where I'm working at, or my name, because I don't want to be interrupted by People who already know about the park wanting to chat to workers, when there is plenty of people that will need help.

Most people dont go just wanting to "chat to workers."

Getting an opportunity to get out of the office and into the park was always one of my favorite things. I was dressed differently enough from the other associates that guests would stop me...a LOT...and ask questions (Im assuming it was the uniform...besides the office workers its mostly managers that dress in a similar way). I really enjoyed being able to help people with their questions, or show them around or whatever. It didnt bother me- its your job to put the guest first.

  4. I don't think I saw this before, and I haven't seen it mentioned on KIC: according to the Live Entertainment page, Cirque Imagine opens May 23! For those of you wondering, that's the weekend after Coasterstock.

I think I'm just about as excited for that show as I am for roller coasters to reopen. They seriously wouldn't have to change a thing about that show for this year and I'd be over the moon about seeing it.

I never got to see the show last year, but I met all of the people in it when they were hired in. OMG, I could talk to (and stare at a few of) them all day long. Such nice people and funny too!

  5. And I do believe our own MDMC01 is in that video somewhere. :)

Yep, I'm one of the guys in the yellow (the shortest of the two guys with hats). My main scenes are near The Beast, near Breaker's Bay, and of course, the grand finale. As I've said before, it was a blast to make!

Aww, I remember talking to you before! Its nice to put faces with names.

  6. Lettuce not forget, the major porpoise was to draw new associates to the FUN and only. Any FUN making it was a happy coincidental.

Lol. But like I said before, if you get into the right department, it really is a lot of fun. I worked with funny, kind people and can honestly say I never had a boring day.

  7. And that video just shows some of the fun stuff employees get to do, seriously, even if it was highly embarassing for a few. I find it funny for so many reasons, not the least of which was seeing my coworkers in train uniforms (I'm not sure who picked that out for them, but going from a department with pants to wearing short overalls just made me giggle). Also, watching the employees from different departments trying to keep up with the entertainment employees. But they had fun which was all that really mattered.

  8. I would like to work at KI but my friends stories of working there, I don't think I will. I will try and apply to work Haunt. The other thing is taking fun away from a place I enjoy so much.

Just really depends on where you work. I loved my job, but to be fair I was inside and away from the weather/craziness lol. But it really depends on what department you work in. Some are stressful, and some are really nice :)

    what deparment did you work?

I was in human resources- so its pretty fair to say theres a good chance each and every one of you who have worked there in the past 4 years has met me at least once :)

  10. I would love to be a ride op or a supervisor but I've seen the amount you have to put in. I personally think there is no horrible job at Kings Island but the least pleasurable would be characters. Once I turn 15 though I want to work at Kings Island but I would want to be the character escort type of worker, not sure exactly what it's called.

    Its called...Character Escort :)

Nice not to see my job listed as one of the worst...lol. Side note though...I have met people that work in every department in the park, and there are people who LOVE their jobs in every department...believe it or not. Its part of what makes working at KI so fun, for me at least.

  11. Congrats on being hired by Kings Island and welcome. HR does everything online via the JobNet site that you completed the online application. Once you have clicked on the background check (if you are 18 or over), there is a processing link. Click on it and select your date. It will also have a link for your department's training and info on the orientation training for first time employees. If you have any questions, call or email your department or HR.

What area of the park have you been hired at? You will have a good time and meet really good people that you will call your friend. Again, WELCOME!

    This :)

  12. Since so many happy posters are also commenting on the actions of employees, it would be interesting to know if there was a significant difference to the training, approach, expectations, this year

Im not sure what is different considering I havent worked there long but I will say this...the employees feel valued and that makes all the difference in the world. I love my job and I know I go out of my way to make others happy just because I am. Its infectious...in a good way :)

  13. Can someone back Cedar Pointer on that statement, I just want to be sure

I was called, they left a message

Which department? I know Food and Admissions both email.

Just saying to call them back for information on an interview time. And I will be working...somewhere not outside and leave it at that lol :)
