  1. You didn't give me the option for my vote: None of the above!
  2. ^Your eyes must be better than mine! I hope this rumor is true. I always loved them, and in the last two years of existence at KI I FINALLY became a snapping expert. Did GL have scooters? I've never been there, and if they did it could be from them. It could also explain why KI wasn't mentioned in the CF release a few days ago. "New for 2008: Flying Eagles! Sure you had them since the park opened in 1972, now we're bringin' 'em back!" Doesn't exactly have the same effect as Behemoth, but it's just fine with me!
  3. When the old sign blew down and this one was in the planning stages, they originally did want an LCD lightboard. But local restrictions are in place banning them of this size, as it is considered a distraction to motorists. So they went with the current setup, which I believe is even actually against current restrictions but got grandfathered in.
  4. As promised (and after hours of struggle) here are the pictures I took last night. http://www.flickr.com/photos/19194080@N05/ Thank you to CoastersNSich and kwindshawne for your help! (I tried your way kwindshawne and wasn't able to get it to work).
  5. Help! I've been trying to post the pix I took of the sign last night, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I click on the Insert Image box, paste in the path to the file and when I preview the post I get this error: Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed. I've tried everything I can think of, and can't find anything in the help links on the site. So, how the heck do I put picture in here?
  6. Yea, my mom talked about seeing Top Gun in the movies with my dad! Go rent it now! Along with Face/Off! 2 very good movies. Drop Zone and Congo, not so good.
  7. I get off the Western Row exit everyday after work, I'll try to remember to take a short detour up KI Dr. tonight and get a picture, hopefully post it by tomorrow unless someone beats me to it. My friend called me last night about this. He was driving up 71 and noticed it was strangely dark to his right!
  8. Could that be because they have limited land on the peninsula? Anyway, I believe CP will always remain the flagship. The company's name even refers to the park, unless we can expect a change to Kings Fair!
  9. Thanks for ruining the movie for those of us who haven't seen it. There should really be a spoiler alert before your post!
  10. My daughter learned Sweet Escape from hearing it in the queue lines this year. Now she gets so excited when it comes on in the car. It's so funny hearing "Woohoo, Yeehoo" from the backseat. And the dancing kitties just scare me!
  11. I agree. As I posted in another thread, I'm losing weight this off season for that reason (and before someone says it, also the health benefits). I wouldn't expect a bigger seat because they also have to accommodate smaller riders. Now when a manufacturer tightens their restrictions (Intamin) I'll gripe a little, but I can certainly understand the reasoning behind it, as safety comes first.
  12. Woohoo! Call off my diet plans! (just kidding everyone, it's still on) I never imagined the Small World boats getting stuck. How embarassing would that be? Now if only KI would offer some healthier food choices as well. Burgers, fries, pizza, chicken strips and fried chicken, fried fish and shrimp, cheese coneys and 3-ways are not what I would consider the best choices. Sure, they added Chinese in Festhaus, but I don't want that every time. Now, the turkey burgers at WDW are great! And with the kids meals, you can get the option of a fruit and cheese cup as a side. WDW does it right, and their food prices are lower. Still high, but lower than KI.
  13. Yes, but then they have to pay someone to stay there and inflate balls. I'm not sure they would want to pay wages for that, and it doesn't fit in with the job duties of admissions, security or GR, the only people outside the park. I find them annoying as well, especially those who pass the ball to each other, backing up to catch the ball and not paying attention to what's behind them. There was one case where my two year old daughter almost got run into, but luckily I saw what was about to happen and stepped between them. The guy ran into me instead of knocking her down and I had a few choice words for him! Of course, he just went on his way, continuing his passing to his friend.
  14. Aw, the clown band... I worked in the Bakery my first year, and I had just switched to tuba for marching band the summer before. I loved it when they played in front of the tower outside my window. Especially "25 or 6 to 4". The thought of playing that bassline, as simple but powerful as it is, made me want to audition for them. But they sadly were disbanded (ha! get it?) a few years later. The ORIGINAL Enchanted Voyage before the Smurfs ruined it. My first looping coaster Screamin' Demon (I know very outdated now). The rotor (can't remember the real name) and the bobsled thingie (but I can ride a similar one at CP, Matterhorn). Tumblebug. Skylab. The monorail on a hot day. Zodiac (don't see too many of these around now). KCKC, and why not, KC, my first stand-up. Witches Cauldrons, I always liked this better than Spinning Keggers because of the witch flying around and the cat popping out of the tree. Have I listed too many? Nostalgia has struck, time to watch the Brady Bunch episodes now... and then maybe I'll pop in The Partidge Family for good measure.
  15. Sounds like an excellent idea to me.
  16. Why? "J/K", I say while running and hiding, dodging objects flying at my head...
  17. Nick/HB did have one. I'm kind of glad they don't now, it's terrible trying to drag my daughter away from a playground, she never wants to leave them. If I'm going to spend money on a season pass, I would much rather have her on the rides or in BB than on something we can do at Sharon Woods. That's the reason we avoid Pooh's Playful Spot at Magic Kingdom. As she gets older she may change, but right now everytime she sees a playground she wants to play on it, no matter where it is. And you don't even want to know about kids and the fluids that are released by them in ball pits like the one KI had in their old play area...
  18. I picked going to the movies b/c my daughter will enjoy that. She's only been to one so far, which was Ratatoullie (that was just ok). With Bee Movie, Enchanted and Alvin and the Chipmunks coming out in the next couple of weeks/months there are a few to take her to. Not too sure about Enchanted yet due to her age. She loves Disney princesses but this is not your typical Disney princess movie. She'll be 3 on 11/8 and she absolutely LOVES KI (wonder where she gets it?). She asks about it every week, and we averaged about a trip every other week during the summer. We'll have to distract her in other ways, she hates sitting around the house. Cincinnati Zoo's Festival of Lights and other holiday activities will keep us busy in the next two months, then Newport Aquarium, Museum Center, and anything else I can think of will have to do in January - March. And then April will be here and so will KI's 2008 season.
  19. Yeah, that sounds a little crazy when other haunts in the area are open 3-4 days a week, which would be 12-16 operating days for them.
  20. The Beach has their 2008 admission price, it's $27.99, and they charge for parking too. https://tickets.thebeachwaterpark.com/mainstore.asp And that is odd, I saw the WWK pricing this morning on their site. Someone must have jumped the gun posting it.
  21. The ball coaster looked interesting, but I would be concerned about collisions with the cars going back and forth like that. Now the twist and turn coaster on the other hand looked dull.
  22. I'm not sure, I guess I'll have to keep track next year!
  23. Well here's the first rumor: the season is NOT over today!!! WXEG in Dayton is reporting that Kings Island is extending Halloween Haunt/Bare Bones through this weekend! I've seen no visual evidence yet that confirms this. Yeah my friend got hired to work at KI this weekend but I'm like yeah probably to take things down but he said no it's for Halloween Haunt.I'm really confused this makes sense almost all Cincinnati major haunted houses stay open I think through Nov.3. Uhh... what's your friend smoking and where can I get some? Unless he got hired to pass out the jackets... But HH is officially over.
  24. Well, I managed to go! I left the house at 10:30, in the gate at 10:45. Headed to SoB, but it was closed. I thought it was on the list, but got home and found out it wasn't. Rode Firehawk, FoF, Firehawk again, and then headed to Beast. I got in line at 11:50, waited 9 minutes in the queue near the vending machines (not because there was a line, I just wanted the last train), then headed to the station. I got the last train of the season, in the front row of the back car. Great way to end the season! And now the long 5 month wait starts...
  25. I give them a C+. The park looked good, I enjoyed Firehawk and HH this year, the shows were a big improvment over the past several years. But... many of the full timers I know chose to leave under the current regime. From the stories I heard from them, CF demanded way too much of them (as if they didn't work hard enough under Paramount and before) and did not give them the freedom to do their tasks on their own. And some of these were people that have been there 20+ years, since before Paramount bought the place, people who had a lot of time and effort invested in the place, really cared about the park and wanted to see it improve and prosper. For that reason I lowered my score. Edit: I forgot about the food! Cold and overpriced, a majority of the food associates I dealt with were not very friendly. Make it a C-.
