  1. First off I am not 13, I am 34 and that is why I think Paramount was bad for the park. I remember the way it was when I was a kid and it was a whole lot better or maybe it is trying to hold on to things from my childhood either way I like the park better pre-Paramount. So you see it is more than a word to me it is the mark of the end of Paramount. I also am not 13, I am 44, and while I was not employed by Paramount, I was employed at KI when it was locally owned and operated, by Taft, then Kings Entertainment Co. (KECO). I also remember when KI was a true theme park, with themed areas, not just "theming" the entire park to sell Paramount merchandise and programming. I know I am in the minority, but all the thrill rides don't turn me on. I enjoy the family friendly atmosphere of the old KI, and while Cedar Point does have the coasters, I think they preserve the traditional amusement park atmosphere better than KI has in recent years. So count me in as a Paramount "basher" if you like.
  2. I remember the Airshow, complete with the bi-planes and skydivers, family friends of ours flew the plane for the skydivers. The canoe ride where Beast is, the original Enchanted Voyage, Gullivers Rub a Dub Dub, the Wonder Bread Bakery on International Street are all great memories. How about when International Street really was international? I also miss Wild Animal Habitat, and the original themed area concept of the park.
  3. The funny part was that her first memory of me was that I sent her through Personnel because she forgot her ID, and she had to pay for a new one. She didn't like me very much at that point!
  4. Mmmmmm, Pita Bread Taco's. I worked at the park during your 80's stint. Your wife did not happen to graduate from Northwest Senior High did she? I went to school with a girl that started in Ecology and moved into working for Security. Welcome to the board. My wife is indeed a Northwest Knight, email me at rpierce19@hotmail.com and we can see if you guys know each other. And yeah, the tacos were pretty tasty.
  5. Hi, I just discovered KI Central, nice to see some the the old stuff. I worked one season in food service, about 1979 or so. Worked at the Whistle Stop and Tecumsah's Tacos in Rivertown. Went back to the park in 1983-1986 in Security. I would like very much to hear from anyone who I might have worked with back then. Many of us from Security in those days are involved in law enforcement either locally or in federal service. I have been with the Springdale PD since 1986, I was working Winterfest when I got my real job. I met my wife at KI, she was a litter gitter for several years, then Security, and finally spent a few years in the money room. KI holds a special place in my heart.
