  1. Yeah, we are going to WDW in 2 weeks (July 25-29) and I am most definitely looking forward to it. Ive been there numerous times, but the last time was 1987... A World of things have changed since then I know. I have a serious thing for indoor launched coasters (FoF is #4 on my list, just forgot to list it) and I am really amped about riding RRC. Like I said, Db still may remain #3... but this remains to be seen. BTW, if anyone is interested in what RRC looks like without the building, check this out http://www.rcdb.com/ig769.htm
  2. As for the relevant topic of the OP... my black book has definietly been shuffled since my trip to CP. 1)Millie 2)Maverick (I LOVE a ride that just throws so much at you so quickly you cannot keep up with it) 3)Diamondback (subject to change after I ride Rockin Roller Coaster in 16 days). Im sure I will add a couple of woodies to the list after I visit Holiday World and Indiana Beach later this summer... but as of now the woodie I used to Love has been caged and I truly have no remorse in walking right by the entrance path as I pass Db's splashdown.
  3. Im lovin that too! I am a huge cable lift fan, even with its possible maintainance issues like what happened to Millie before CMania. For one thing, its niiiiiiiice and quiet, and for another its VERY quick, which helps a lot for someone like me who truly hates ascending lift hills. The entire time I was in line for my first Millie ride I stared at the lift hill and was incredibly nervous about it... and you can ask Sean about how I was while waiting in line for the DB Auction ride . Needless to say, I have not conquered my fear of TTD yet.
  4. My question is this... if one has a Gold/Platinum Pass and gets free parking... does that apply towards the fee to the extent that one only has to pay the $5 upgrade fee for Premium Parking? If thats the case..... Im with Jesse on this one.... shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  5. When you said that "they" are no longer carrying the drink wristbands, do you mean LaRossas, or the entire park? If its the entire park all I can say is... seriously guys? Sounds like you had a nice time at the park, and I agree fully with you in regards to Down Home Country.
  6. Hahahaahaha! Yeah Sean, I remember those days... I was a Senior in HS (1991-92) when the whole "saggin" garbage started with the pants... and the whole purpose of a hat (bill used to keep sun out of ones eyes as opposed to guarding ones left or right ear from sun-exposure) was forgotten.
  7. I think some of the people who commented on the website that this came from were correct in that the $109 figure is the projected amount CF and CW intend on duping the GP out of when attempting to win such a prize at $3 to $5 (or more) per "chance". Face it, everyone on this site knows that any item placed as a prize can be bought for a fraction of what it will end up costing to "win" said prize. Its like certain rides we all know of where you HAVE to sit in a specific spot to make it enjoyable... if you have to be a physicist to sit there and figure out the absolute perfect wind conditions/angles or have a laser guidance system to make a basket for instance due to its rim size being 1/8 inch bigger than the ball going into it.... its not worth it. The job dismissal will stand... the criminal charges will absolutely not.
  8. Yep, after my first ever trip to the Point June 2nd, Ive got to give it to Millie, hands down... or shall I say HANDS UP!!!!!
  9. Nope, far from it. That pose is in no way a gangster pose... that is a hardcore rocker pose thats been out for years and years and years. The hand signal is the universal sign for "rock on" and the clothing emulates that of the mid 80s Eddie Vetter/pearl Jam/grunge phase. I dont want to even give the wannabe gangstas who think they are somewhat cool credit for this. As far as the whole male/female thing... its a logo, nothing more, nothing less. id say make a shirt with a logo showing both a male and female RW if you want to represent the Ladies .
  10. As Jackson (Beast1979) said, the model of Diamondback was produced by CoasterDynamix. Its current location is still the lobby area of Great Wolf Lodge if I am not mistaken.
  11. Oh I definitely hope that drought is over very soon as well! Sparky, who sees.
  12. Lets just say some recent happenings have made me realize the importance of Life... and how trivial some things really are. That and, I genuinely need a close place to run away to right now more than ever.
  13. But Terpy, one that easy would be like using an Elephant gun on a deer in an open pasture at high Noon... no sport in it at all!
  14. OK Ladies and gentlemen, let me preface this with a few statements. First off, I posted my initial TR on the 29th of May to express and bring to the forefront something I felt (and still feel) has become a truly serious concern within the park. I was happy to see that there are a number of you that "get it" and werent afraid to admit and understand that its OK to admit when there is something not perfect about your park. I am a fan of a lot of people/things... for instance I am a HUGE Tony Stewart fan (hence my profile pic and Myspace screenname)... but when he does something wrong on track I am the FIRST to be standing up in the living room or the stands at the track yelling "YOU DUMBA$$ Smoke, what was that crap?!?!?" I know that people and places/organizations are not, and never will be perfect no matter how much I like them and want to think they are. Now, with that, I am also not foolish/arrogant enough to think I am anywhere close to perfect... and have no problem sucking it up and admitting Ive had a change of Heart on a subject. With that, the following TR will commence. I was sitting at home Tues morning listening to Itunes when one of my late 80s songs I have saved started playing... D amn Yankees "Run Away"... and I thought to myself "thats just what I need to do right now to get my mind clear". After a quick thought of going to the Point, I decided since it was already 11am I would be better off to give ki another chance (simple manner of 5 hour drive vs 2). I quickly got things together, and headed off on the drive to Mason. I arrived around 140pm, and walked to the entrance with a very hopeful frame of mind. My usual first ride is FoF... but there was a reason that I went to DB this time. As I walked to the queue, I was quite happy to see a member of MPD standing next to the test seat. I got two back to back rides in about 30 minutes, and DB is a very solid #3 on my Coaster list. I went from there to Beast (passing dare-to-fy on the way, right by the entrance to WWC) and was happy to see a Family with a young first time rider. Its always pretty cool to me to see the anticipation/excitement in those cases. After my one ride on Beast, I decided to head over towards Coney Mall/X-Base. I stopped off at BLSC and caught a front seat ride on it, and I still Love that ride no matter what the haters say. That initial helix is great, high-G turns are my favorite element on coasters and that one fits the bill splendidly. I decided I wanted a non-coaster ride next, so I went to Scrambler... one of my all time favorite flats. Speaking of favorite flats... I know what needs to go in the place ofthe laser-tag dome.... TILT-A-WHIRL BABY!!! Like I said, I absolutely Love high-G spins and turns. OK, back on track, after Scrambler I took the jaunt over to Flight Deck and had to chuckle when I saw the trash can in front of SOB's queue. Are we sure Vekoma didnt manufacture that ride? I took a nice, quick ride in the back of FD, and realized that 1-1 truly is a better experience on that ride. I like FD as a ride in general, but 1-1 is the best. At this point, I decided to go to Festhas and get a wristband and some LaRosas and hang out for the 4pm showing of Down Home Country. I ate, and rolled out at 410pm... didnt care for DHC at all. I headed back to Rivertown for two more laps on DB (20 min wait in normal line and a VERY lucky 5 minute wait in the SRL) then took a ride on the MVRR. Next was a trip back to X-Base to ride FoF. I Love that ride, and I have GOT to go ride Jokers Jinx becasue I just want to see how intense that final corkscrew feels without the MCBR. After a quick stop in the room of rest by Vortex (that NEEDS to be X-Bases next installation!!) I took advantage of the 1 train wait and got a ride in 5-2 (or as some would look at it 5-3). After this, the FoF bug kept biting, plus it was a little on the warm side with the hazy sun... so I headed back to the air-conditioned goodness that is FoFs queue. After another great ride, I went back to DB to lap it up until nightfall. To my suprise, what I thought would happen after 6pm was not the case. I was figuring it would clear out... but actually it seemed to get busier. What was a 15 to 20 min wait all day had now become about 25-35. it was all good, as I took one more ride, than sat down for a little while to simply people-watch. I would like to say that, while watching, I noticed 2 Security Officers taking an active presence at DBs queue and exit ramp. I took two more rides in a row on DB, my final one at 910pm, and then decided to head back home. In closing, I would like to point out that I am genuinely happy to see that the Front Office has taken steps in making the park going experience a better one for the paying customers. I am not saying that my voicing of my concerns made an inkling of difference in the increased Official presence around DB... but I was really happy to see it. Thank you to those decision makers who read these Forums and stepped up.... you got me back.
  15. If ejector-air is what you are seeking... Magnum's hills "came out right". If you are seeking floater-air a'la DB... far from it.
  16. Yes, MF is running again, I had my first ever ride yesterday.... and it was running very very well I might add.
  17. Why?? Really?? I will tell you exactly why. I did NOT become a passholder to spend my day at the park being a babysitter or Security Officer, THATS why. I was under the impression that a day at an amusement park was supposed to be a good time, where one could relax and enjoy the rides/attractions without having to constantly deal with this type of incident. If you have read any portion of these boards since opening day, you will (hopefully) be able to see that this is not in any way an isolated incident. Why in God's name should I voluntarily subject myself to this type of garbage? You are totally correct in your one statement that the park did as much as they possibly could in this situation, hence my praise of GR and of Jeremy. However, until the statement "linejumpers will be removed from the line and possibly from the park" is changed to "linejumpers will have their butts tossed out of the park PERIOD with no exceptions" this will continue and will get worse, far worse... especially on DB. If the time comes when I hear reports from Friends that the park has taken an iron fist approach to this problem... I will consider returning to the park a postitive experience.
  18. I am going to make this a very quick, simple, and to the point Cliff-notes TR outlining my day... or should I say hour and 30 minutes at Kings Island. I arrived at roughly 1230pm to be greeted by 8 school busses and a dozen or more charter busses... ahh wonderful. I did not let this dissuade me as it was very much the same last Friday and I had no problems with the exception of longer wait times. I went and upgraded my pass to Platinum due to an impending trip to CP on Tuesday... this is $60 I truly regret deeply and wish I had not done before entering the park. I decided my first ride was to be FOF, but after walking over and seeing the outside queue area 90% full, I decided against it and figured I would hit it later when the crowds died down a bit. A quick glance towards Firehawk's queue indicated an estimated hour wait (usual for FH) and I chose to walk over towards Rivertown. At this point, IM still cool as I expected a bigger crowd with the busses... no probs. I took a nice stroll... or shall I say mobile obstacle course avoiding the large groups of basketball bouncing schoolkids (ahh todays youth... wonderful) to BLSC. I will say I saw one single positive while walking over there... there was a young man carrying a DEFLATED basketball... kudos to his maturity in taking that as a prize as opposed to an inflated one. I rode BLSC (20 min wait) and this turned out to be my one ride for the day. I left BLSC and walked to The Beast to discover a 45 to 50 minute wait..."no probs" I think to myself "I can hit this this evening too....time to head to the people eater". I walk over to DB and FOOLISHLY go into the SRL even though the normal queue was only about 20 minutes max. Here, I get in line behind 4 12-14y/o individuals who are very obviously together. Now, for those of you who are under the mistaken impression that "Its no big deal for a group to get into the SRL as long as they dont mind not riding together", you are incredibly mistaken on that thought. I listened to one of these wonderful kids call one of their friends and say "come to the single rider line". At this point I had 4 or 5 people behind me in the SRL. I was very shortly afterward nudged by a kid who said "excuse me, I need to get back in line with my Friends". I said I dont think so and blocked him. he went to the other side of me and I blocked again. The third time he tried, he pushed between me and the wood railing on the left side of the SRL. I looked at the 5 people behind me in disbelief that they did not say a single word to this ...... kid and knew that I would not have the 2nd witness I would need to get a D..n thing done about it. Now seeing red and literally ready to go ballistic on anyone, I went directly to Guest Relations where an incredibly nice lady listened to me, and called a Supervisor immediately. Once the Supervisor of Ride Operations at Rivertown arrived (Jeremy, a VERY nice, professional, understanding young Man) I gave him a very detailed report of the incident and my thoughts about what is becoming an incessant and detrimental problem. We spoke for a bit, and after politely declining an offer of an escort to the front of DB's line (I am not one who wants something for nothing, I just wanted to make my voice heard) I walked out of the park while trying to calm myself before getting in my car, and drove back to Indianapolis. Summary: Time spent in park... 1 hour, 30 minutes Rides ridden... BLSC Odds of me returning to KI... absolutely zero To those of you who call Kings Island your home park... the time is NOW for you to all take a stand and not allow it to become the second coming of Six Flags Ohio... we all know how that one turned out!
  19. The fact that the photo includes DB as part of it notwithstanding... angrybeaver's photo owns all posted, provided it was taken in an area that is legally accessable to the general public.
  20. Look, I never said I WANTED to have the everloving crap beaten out of me on a ride. If I wanted that, I would ride that worthless piece of garbage at the front of the park. I also never said the trims werent there for a valid reason, so you can take that statement/arguement and do something with it as well. I also seem to recall praising the feel of the ride in the helices going through the last tunnels due to the retracking... so I am obviously aware of that (the lighter color wood indicates such, even if it wasnt noticeable in the "seat of the pants"). I stated that IN MY HONEST OPINION that the ride felt a whole lot slower this season than last, especially around the area that Tom confirmed. It seems to me that there are enough individuals in this thread backing my feelings/statements to give it some validity. It seems to me that my post count must not be high enough to start a thread on something I feel is true, so I will NOT be making that mistake again.
  21. Right on, thats the portion of the ride I was talking about. Thanks for backing me up on this one, I was hoping I wasnt just spoiled by the feeling of speed I get on DB.
  22. Has anyone else on these boards noticed how agonizingly SLOW Beast is running this season? The helices through the tunnels feel great due to the retracking done during the offseason, but the rest of the ride just seems a lot more over-trimmed than usual. Every time I have ridden it this season, I feel like I could literally step off of the ride going through the tunnel after the first series of trims. Maybe I am just getting too used to the ride, but I still feel it is going far slower this season.
  23. Ahhh, a voice of reason!! Right on bro, as long as Im ridin Im cool. Granted, row 2 is sweet, and of course row 16 rocks... but I honestly couldnt care less where I am sitting as there truly is NO bad seat on DB.
