  1. So I am surprised I am the first to post these.... Anyway I passed KI earlier and snapped a few quick shots. Looks like they've started tearing down the first hill after the initial drop. Sorry about the quality and the tree in the way. I was in a hurry and figured I'd keep you guys and gals in the loop.
  2. This is the best I could get. I was in a hurry.
  3. I just passed KI and there's now a crane visible in SOB ride area. Couldn't see any visible work though.
  4. Already(sort of) being discussed here. http://www.KICentral...-fun-40th-logo/ Also edition should be addition.
  5. Looking more into this, I'm actually quite a bit skeptical. Maybe it's not totally comparable to the Bluegrass Boardwalk situation, but some recent posts have made me see why you made that comparison. Maybe I missed something, but where did management state they would add four water slides and a new wave pool? That seems awfully lofty of an investment for a company on contract to operate for one year with an option to buy. Not to mention, with negotiating this deal where would they have found the time to draw up plans for this expansion? Anyone remember when Bluegrass Boardwalk kept dropping hints of opening the entire park and then their "experts" came in and "evaluated" and things were scaled way back? Not saying these new folks would scale back or face the same exact challenges, but that's pretty lofty goal to start preaching. Here's to hoping it all works out though, The Beach can really attract a demographic KI misses out on and can do just fine right next door. Also, did anyone else notice the "new" manager is also the "former" manager? \Actaully Ralph used to be head of Security/Park Spokesperson. Pam Strickfaden is the VP and GM. Unless things changed before they closed.
  6. I have been playing around with it. I like the layout a lot better. Also there is a cool feature where you can mark your parking spot using GPS. Overall a neat app
  7. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this anywhere............. You can now buy a $5.00 unlimited refill for you souvenir cup for the day! That's a pretty good deal if you're going to spend the entire day at the park. Especially for the families. Has anyone else seen or bought this yet?
  8. This is my first time ever posting a trip report, so here goes nothing....... I met my friend at 8:30 and we arrived at the park right around 8:45. We got up to the gate right before 9:00. We only waited a few minutes, they played the national anthem, then we entered the park. (A few notes: the front gate seems so open now that the metal detectors are gone. I like it a lot. Also they only let the gold pass holders in the park until 9:45, then they allow everyone in. I know before they let everyone cattle up right inside the gate and it got really crowded. The way they did it today seemed to flow very well.) After we got inside we decided to go to Invertigo first. The paint job looks amazing, it really makes the coaster pop. They also have music in the station now. It was a very much needed "sprucing" up. After Invertigo we went towards Planet Snoopy. We rode Boo Blasters a few times. (We both are kids inside.) After that we hit up Diamondback. Line was only 5 minutes or so. After we got off we decieded to try the new Cheese-steaks from Snake Pit. They were pretty good, a little buttery, but good. While we were eating the clock struck 10:00 then the crowds came running. We finished up then headed for Beast. Line wasn't long, but it took forever. After Beast we headed over to Vortex and rode that. The line was right outside (where the steps start). It only took about 5 minutes to get through. We then headed to FOF. They seemed to do a lot of upkeep this off-season. A lot of the lights have been fixed. Also there is a cool new effect in the launch tunnel. When we got out it began to rain, so we went to Festhaus and waited it out. When it stopped we went and hit up Flight Deck and Delrium. We headed back to Coney after and rode Adventure Express and Racer. (Adventure Express looks awful. Very few of the thematic elements work at all. Only a few lights work on the entire ride. It is in a very sad state. Also on The Racer they now stop you right before the ramp into the station, because that's where the Fast Pass line joins in. Once you get up to the station it is very crowded. They removed part of the fence that seperated the two sides. Not the best idea.) After Racer we walked around for a bit and got some Ice Cream. Then we left around 4:30. A few more things I noticed: Almost every coaster now has a seperator of some sort. Beast Diamondback, Fof, Racer, and Advernture Express all had them It made the stations a lot less crowded. Except for Racer. Also I did notice some food prices had gone down! All together it was a good opening day. (besides the rain) Edit: I forgot to metion the Crypt. The cover-up for this ride is sad. The basically hung a black sheet over the sign and put a photo cart right in the front of the line. Very pathetic looking. Just thought I would throw that in. Thanks for reading.
  9. Awesome pictures!! Thanks again for taking the time to share all these photos!
  10. The beginning of the video.....isn't that Diamondback???
  11. This used to be one of my favorite rides as a kid. Thanks again for posting all the pics.
  12. I passed Ki today and took a picture of Invertigo. They have started to paint the main supports. It looks pretty awesome.
  13. I was able to grab a few quick photos of the gold pass area today. Just so you could see what I was talking about.
  14. I didn't want to create a new topic for this, so I just decided to put it here. I just passed KI earlier and the entire gold pass parking area has basically been torn out. Almost all the poles are gone and the attendent booth seemed to be missing as well. Makes me wonder if they may be repaving and re-designing the parking lot due to SC expansion. I will try to get a picture tomorrow if I pass.
  15. From Greg's twitter: "more details to follow, but Gold and Platinum card holders will be allowed in every day to KI an hour early for more rides than ever!" This is great! https://twitter.com/#!/KIGMGREG
  16. I passed KI yesterday and Invertigo has the top half(ish) of the hill, top of the loop, and the top of the boomerang painted. It actually looks really good so far. I think it will be a nice change. I will try to snap a picture sometime soon.
  17. Carnevil is in the old Enchanted Theatre. Thats not all flat ground. They could build a "floor" (so to speak) to connect the ride antichamber with the actual exit of the ride. It has the potential to be one of the best Haunts (themeing wise) in the park.
  18. This picture just reminded me so much of my childhood. When my entire family could just go there and have fun. Thanks again for posting all these great pics!
  19. I'm really enjoying all these photos. Thanks for taking the time to post!
  20. I let curiosity get the best of me so I looked up on bing the land where the campground used to be. http://binged.it/xqoCrP If you look at the link I put CF could easily put another campground there. I'm not sure how expensive it is to build a campground, but I assume it's not terrible.
  21. Really enjoying all the pictures! Love seeing the pics from before my time.
  22. Hasn't that been the layout they have been using for awhile? Plus it's not the same layout as KI, KD, CW, Knotts, or Soak City Also they updated http://www.knotts.com/, http://www.canadaswonderland.com/, http://www.kingsdominion.com/, and http://www.soakcitycp.com/ Edit: CP just showed up for me.
  23. It's the little grassy area between the lazy river and some slides. See http://binged.it/xZEaEt
  24. I'm running on Version 9.0.1 on Vista as well. Go to your Firefox tab go to options, then click options, then go to the advanced tab and go browsing and see if the "check my spelling" box is checked. If it's checked try unchecking it, then saving, then rechecking it.
