  1. I do miss PKI during the Viacom years in the early 2000's in my opinion the park was really finding it's calling and developing into a premier seasonal park. CBS ownership was awful and I am glad they are gone, but Cedar Fair needs to realize that not everyone wants a Cedar Point.
  2. stupid question, but what is the black looking tarp around the show building of the crypt?
  3. I find it interesting that I didn't see any Nickelodean Characters in the pictures, just The HB.
  4. Well next may be another first. I'm sure they figure with all the hype of Diamondback no one will really notice that NU has left. I think it's safe to assume NU is gone after this season. The big question is will anything replace it, or will it become "Kids Works." (Or maybe Kids Universe) Given how Cedar Fair has renamed rides.
  5. Good Bye Nick. It will be interesting to see how families, and their dollars react to no characters or themed children's area next year.
  6. I'm sorry but does anyone else think the mustard yellow supports are ugly? I wish they would have stuck with the tan throughout the ride. My personal opinion is that that those supports will ruin the atmosphere in the back part of the park. It's obvious that they have no love for The Crypt, those supports kill anything theming that was left it.
  7. So they want to appeal to the market that spends the least amount of money at a theme park? Research has shown that family attractions bring in more attendance and money. IE family rides bring the entire family and their money. I really think Cedar Fair is going to be the next six flags, rollercoaster may get press, but theme and atmosphere gets families and their wallets. (Disney seems to do pretty well with this formula)
  8. I don't disagree the when the ride was TR:TR is had plenty of problems, and deteriorating themeing. My problem with the crypt, having not actually been on the ride yet, is that it appears to be very local carnival in it's themeing. I would like to think of Kings Island as a theme park, not an amusement park, which I fear it will become. Cedar Fair does not theme, none of it's parks carry out any sort of themeing, even Knott's has lost what it had, and it competes with Disney. another website just did an article on the stage coach attraction, and pointed out that the once scenic ride it now a view of mostly steel coaster columns. I just hope the when Scooby decides to move on the Cedar Fair replaces it with a quality dark ride.
  9. Sounds to me like they would have been better off just taking down the building and calling it "Giant Topspin" then trying to do some cheesy, county fair type themeing. Why does Cedar Fair hate themeing so much?
  10. So is the actual ride chamber completely empty now? or does it have theming to it? Just my opinion but the picture do not impress me, looks like your typical haunted house attraction you find all over during the fall. (Let's buy a bunch of cobwebs, skulls and some bats/demon figure place them around the room and call it a theme.) Paramount was horrible maintaining TR:TR but when it first opened it was a great highly themed attraction, I guess I'm just sad that what they tried back in 2002 didn't work out, as I love themed rides that actually have a story line.
  11. The park looks good. Wow Cedar Fair removing trees, who would have thought it. Seriously what do they have against foliage?
  12. I don't know if this has been pointed out, but looking through Kings Island's website I found "Paramount's" in the Nickelodeon Universe logo under the rides and attractions page. I know nothing major, but just something I noticed.
  13. Well considering if found a company that does custom neon work and charges about 7 dollars a foot, and I would guess that the sign has less then 300 feat of neon in it, that is only $2,100 which in my book is pretty cheap. I mean I could afford that. so for a large public company yeah I would say it was done on the cheap and looks it. Just my opinion. The other sings look good though, and we only have the one picture, so maybe it will look better in person.
  14. I agree with the other posters I like the look of the Backlot Stunt Coaster and the crypt, both better then what I thought they would be. The Kings Island Theater, though looks like they did it on the cheap. The Paramount Facade, in my opinion, looked much nicer. But I guess this is the Cedar Fair affect, the company as never been known for caring too much about themeing. They pretty much follow the RTC approach to amusement parks, cotton candy stand 1, rollercoaster 2, fries stand 3.
  15. I was just wondering about the inside of the Festhaus. I have not been to KI since Winterfest 2006. Do they still have the large mountain mural, the banners, stain glass window, and stage in the round up? or has all the items they installed, brought back for winterfest been removed again? Thanks for the information.
