  1. Kings Island will be selling discounting tickets here in Louisville and Lexington for $34.99 at Krogers? Those tickets will also include free unlimited soft drinks until June 30th?
  2. I have seen a photo on facebook of one of Lightning Run's train being installed on the transfer track. It should not be long until testing starts.
  3. I've never been a big fan of water parks, but when your there and you get into the water you have a lot of fun. When parks add in things like the country's tallest body slide, it will in fact attract thrill seekers. A lot of people I talk to are tired of the water park expansions. They are tired of the same rides because they have been outdated for years, the people want something new in the ride side and we are finally seeing that happening and they/we are excited. But they are hesitant of getting on the country's tallest body slide.
  4. No, they got it right. Deep Water Dive is the nations tallest body slide. Verruct is not a body slide
  5. Parking passes will now be available. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2014/04/24/state-fair-board-sell-unlimited-parking-passes/8121683/
  6. Soo...Holiday World changes their Ad campaignin for the first time in nearly 2 decades...hmmm....
  7. I've watch a variety of networks my entire life. Local channels from the big four especially.
  8. I have never seen billboards advertising this park around the Louisville/Lexington area, and I have never seen a commercial just for Dollywood until yesterday night, and this was in Lexington. As I said previously, I look forwards theme park ads year after year because I love seeing coasters on television. I have never seen an ad for Mystery Mine in 2007 nor Wild Eagle when that ride was introduced just two years ago. Many people around here don't even know what Dollywood is unless they have been to Gattininbrug or is making a trip to Gattlinburg believe it or not. The only parks I see in this area on my television is Disney World, Universal Studios, Holiday World, Kings Island, and Kentucky Kingdom. The only ads I seen for this park is brochures when I go to my parents credit union. Have Kings Island been showing TV ads up north? I haven't seen anything yet down here in Louisville/Lexington. Usually I see heavy advertisement. Maybe it is because I hardly have any TV any more because of school.
  9. I have been living in Kentucky my whole life and just moments ago I have seen, for the first time, a television advertisement that had solely focused on Dollywood and their new family coaster. "FOR THE FIRST TIME". I have seen ads with clips of Dollywood that focused on gatinlinburg, but not Dollywood alone. I wonder if this had anything to do with Kentucky Kingdom reopening.
  10. I knew that. That is how basically all news get out. it was not a voice over btw. But still, news traveling is a positive thing.
  11. It like a punch... Exac.....okay, just right now at this moment an advertisement just pop up on my TV set that today was the last day to Get a pass at 59.99 before they go up to 99.95 tomorrow But it is like a punch...exactly two month before the park opens we start seeing discriptive ads everywhere, and I bet this is only a teaser of what is to come... I was suprise to see that the news has made it down to Alabama http://www.wtvy.com/news/morningshow/headlines/Kentucky-Kingdom-Nearly-Ready-to-Reopen-254677951.html
  12. Height limits on all rides and water attractions have been posted http://www.kentuckykingdom.com/attractions/thrill/ The ride manufacturers have increased the height limits on several rides it seems. I don't remember having to be 54 inches to ride the Himalaya When flying scooters where at Kings Island did that ride have a weight limit? You can't weigh more than 170 pounds on the one at Kentucky Kingdom
  13. It was said in one of the stories that Amazon had booked the park on May 17 and their employees will be the first to try out the rides. Also on ACE facebook it said they are supposed to be making a pittstop on the day. So I guess they are joining in on the fun. The park however opens to the public on May 24.
  14. I went by the park today. I wish I had taken a picture. But Lighting Run is the sexiest coaster ever when dark gray clouds are behind it. The colors on the coaster just POP just like lightning
  15. Went past the park today. The first drop is just about completed. All that is missing is the lift hill and a couple sections of track leading towards the station to close the circuit of the ride.
  16. If you want to see a photo update on Lightning Run, the link below will take you there http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=51557&start=4020 This coaster is going to be too daammmm steep
  17. When I was on spring break last week, Ads where everywhere throughout the Louisville area. From transit buses to billboards. I am also hearing that TV advertisements are officially on the air. side note...From a picture I have seen, Lightning Run's main course is completed.
  18. I was thinking that the manufacturer was also paying a portion for the ride, not the buyer alone
  19. 2006 is correct. The park was going to close or be sold after the 2006 season. This was the time went several Six Flags parks were being sold to PARC Management. Jay Thomas worked hard to keep the park open and he got funding to secure the park to still be open under the Six Flags name. It was rumored on screamscape that after the STOP accident that Ed Hart was trying to get the park back but Six Flags did not accept his offer because it was too low. Afterwards the future should have been pretty much been known as Six Flags quickly relocated Jay Thomas from KK and future plans for the park was plug, for example 2008 an new kiddie area was supposed to open by Twisted Twins but plans for that was plugged and rides where constantly being removed years after.
  20. I would love to work for the park, but yet school comes first. I've never had anything but Kentucky Kingdom. I've never been to a beach, never been outside the country, the furthest place I have ever been was to Chicago with my 5th grade class. Kentucky Kingdom is where my childhood remains behind locked gates. To hear it closed was the worst day of my life, to hear it officially come back was one of the best days of my life. I have been waiting for Ed Hart to come rescue the Kingdom since 2006 when my sister (former sfkk employee) told me Six Flags was temping to close/sale the park, so of course I am going to be excited and more defensive because this is something I have been waiting for a very long time and it is actually going to happen. But yet this forum is nothing more than many ignorant Kings Island fan boys posting negative thoughts and hopes of the Kentucky Kingdom to fail, something that obviously should not sit well with me.
  21. Them Debbie downer Kings Island fan boys are the ones that are bliss and ignorant, but yet... Haters are going to hate...
  22. Haters are going to hate. enough said. 82 More Days!
  23. Negativity is just glued to this fourm...but haters are going to hate Yup, attendance soared to 1.4 million guest as a result of 1 water attraction (Hooks Lagoon) being added to Hurricane Bay in 1998 This isn't just Kentucky Kingdom is opening up Lightning Run, It's Kentucky Kingdom coming back! I know to some of you adding a Drop Tower is not a good move, but it is what the people want. People wanted it prior to when Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom closed. There has not been anything negative said about the addition of the drop ride through the media, etc since it has been announced. When the park do open yes people may be hesitant, but people are still going to ride it, and I am sure this ride is going to have the longest line in the park.
