  1. Not at all! I’ve had to watch the industry pretty closely once Disney Shanghai and Hong Kong closed and had a pretty strong feeling the US was going to see similar closures. The company I work for is hurting from this tremendously and I could see us shutting down in the coming weeks. Pretty scary thought.
  2. Haha, really? I can somewhat see where you’re coming from but I’m sure that somewhere in your agreement to buy the pass there is a no refunds section. The parks are going to open, don’t be stingy
  3. I knew it was going to happen soon enough. Disneyland is closed through the end of March. Source Edit: Saw I was a bit late Now we wait for the Florida parks to close....
  4. So long Robb! I'm sure many will miss him, but many more will not!
  5. Why does every topic have to end up discussing things like this? The park doesn't like it, but people do it. If you're super mad about it, don't watch it. KIC doesn't support it, but Facebook and YouTube will never care. It was pretty sad to see the station completely demolished like that
  6. Right, but with the way it's going CA is seeing more cases every day and Seattle had the first US death from the virus yesterday I believe.
  7. As far as I know, Disney Hong Kong and Shanghai resorts closed late January, Tokyo Disney and Universal Japan closed this past week. The company I work for works closely with Disney & Universal and we are REALLY starting to feel the impact of the virus within the company. Not only are we not receiving orders from the closed parks, but our factories and offices in China have been closed since late January. If things don't get better soon, I'm not sure how long my company will be able to operate normally. Thankfully most Cedar Fair parks have ordered their spring products from us lol. Hopefully the US can keep it under control. We've already heard talk of Universal/Disney in California considering closing, and I couldn't imagine the impact if the Florida parks closed. I could see Cedar Fair closing Knott's since that park attracts international visitors.
  8. I definitely would not consider anytime before June mid-summer. If anything, June/July is midsummer. Must have been a pretty quick planning process! Probably what they’ll do with Vortex
  9. If I do recall correctly, we were repeatedly told that there was nothing planned for Firehawks old site and that the decision to remove it was made mid-summer. That clearly turned out to be very untrue, unless they planned a coaster for Firehawks old spot immediately after deciding to remove it. There are probably plans for Vortex's old site, otherwise I think they would have left the station to turn it into a haunt attraction. I mean, SOB's is still there, the giant Crypt box still stands as a tiny haunt attraction, there'd be no reason to demolish it other than to use that land for something else.... It is sad nonetheless, but you can't hold onto the past! The future is always bright, and I see great things to come.
  10. KI had me spoiled... when I moved to Florida and found out Disney/Universal closes usually around 8/9 PM I was upset lol. I don't think the trimmed hours will do much honestly. The park being open until 10 most days is great. I think cutting back an hour on Haunt won't do much, I bet it has something to do with the noise.
  11. Awesome shot! 5 coasters in one photo and the only time Vortex will coexist with Orion
  12. I find it amazing that so many users have stuck around for so long. Most of the posts from 2002 are from people who still post today! Can you believe they've been coming to this site for 18 years now? I'm on my 13th year. To answer the question: I don't think I have ever watched any of the shows. When I'm there I'm focused solely on getting on as many coasters as I can. Guess I need to drop in and watch a few this coming season.
  13. I worked at Jungle Jims for SIX years and saw it run maybe three times. It was very slow and it made loud animal noises haha. Did it do that when it ran at KI? I definitely feel like that's something Jungle added.
  14. I think it might do you some good to actually read the article haha. One person interviewed for this article state that their home was built and has lived in it prior to Kings Island opening. To me, I think it’s fair for anyone that lived there before KI opened to complain about noise. Anyone else, no.
  15. ^ the vehicles did slam into each other in one of the stations. Glass is broken. I don’t know if there were people in the vehicles. Heres a short clip from twitter:
  16. I know nothing of the topic, but maybe someone here does. Would this cause an issue with becoming a monopoly? The only competitors to a merger like this would be Universal and Disney. They would own over 30 parks in the US.
  17. People who remember the sale of Paramount Parks to Cedar Fair: how did that go down? I was only 11 at the time and barely remember it. I’m curious about how people felt and did we know CF was interested before the parks were purchased?
  18. I completely agree. It sounds dramatic, but I couldn’t watch the park I love become a SIX park. I love to compare the differences between SF Great America and CGA. Two similar parks built by the same people, one now owned by six and one CF. The differences are stark.
  19. Oh, no. Oh god, NO. What is happening to KI and CF?!? Please let this fall through
  20. My initial reaction was a bit over dramatic... I respect CF and KI for the decision, I’m certain there’s a very good and legitimate reason to close the ride. I got to go yesterday to get a few final rides. Looking forward to the future of that part of Coney Mall.
  21. The idea of this makes me sad. Let’s hope they aren’t on the chopping block too. Feels like we’re on Survivor now
  22. I wonder why they chose to make this such a small announcement? Firehawks was so highly publicized with the funeral, hashtags, media buildup. Why did they announce this so non-chalantly?
  23. Cedar Fair, you have a DUTY to honor Vortex like this! Not being too serious, but I would LOVE to see something like this done for Vortex. This is Corkscrew’s corkscrew (lol) at the entrance to Alton Towers, image from rollercoaster.fandom.com
  24. I think a lot of us aren’t mad at the fact it is being removed. It is the sudden, early morning announcement coupled with the fact that Orion is coming next year, essentially confirming that nothing will replace it for years to come. I think everyone agrees that it is old, rickety, and rough, and it was due to be *replaced* soon. I think that the decision to remove it without a replacement (again, Orion basically confirms no other coasters coming soon) is upsetting most of us. Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise all with a “real” giga for 2021
  25. This is exactly why I’m confused. They JUST removed a coaster, and they’re removing another the next year? At least let it go through next season. Something is weird about this, and I don’t like it. Hopefully this isn’t a trend, like Paramounts “updating” of the park and removing classics.
