  1. My son and myself got injured this month. Our vacation is July 14 to 17. On June 23 I tore all the ligaments in my knee, I have a brace on and most likely will by the time we go. On June 28 my son broke both the bones in his forearm. Right now he has a splint on it and has to go to the ortho doc tomorrow, I am not sure if they will just keep that on it or actually put him in a plaster cast. If they do put a plaster cast on him, will he be allowed to ride all the rides? If they see someone with a knee splint or an arm splint will they stop you from riding? I know alot of people wear knee splints/braces for support and not just injuries. If anyone knows please let me know. I don't need to be told, for his or my best interest we should not ride, I know that, I just need to figure out what to do as I have 3 kids upset with me for getting hurt, now my son is hurt too and they are not very happy....lol and I do not want to waste $250 on tickets for all 5 of us when 2 of us won't even be able to ride once we've paid to get it in. Thanks
  2. I am sure they can't, but again, I don't think they should sue above it. The family should be able to come out even, then have whatever she needs for her future, including medical bills, new prosthetic bills, continuing rehab. I just see parents out to make a point.
  3. Give me a break, she is able to walk you know, she has not lost future income, she has 1 prosthetic. Her other foot was reattached, she has been in rehab for I guess over 6 months now. Are you saying she is crippled for life because I see people out there with no legs that run, are you saying she can't run with 1 prosthetic? She can't hold down a clerical job because she is missing 1 foot?????? Get real, look at the great things disabled people overcome on a daily basis. No it isn't fair it happened to her, but it isn't fair to take advantage of KK for something you know CAN HAPPEN. Uh...no. Where DO you get your FACTS? At last report, she is NOT able to walk. She will probably be able to some time soon. Maybe. Why do you CHOOSE to minimize her very tragic injuries? Pardon me, but I think your attitude on this is very cold, to say the least. She was on the news WALKING. Not sure why they would of reported it if she wasn't. I am not cold about this, I am just saying it was an accident and you are making it out like KK pointed her out and doomed her when that is not the case. I don't believe in suing only to become a millionaire when things go wrong and too many people do that and they are too (imo). I am not saying don't sue, but sue for what you need, not a dime more. They are just as liable as what you feel KK is, they let her ride knowing anything can go wrong, and unfortunately it did. I don't believe KK has done everything right (afterwards), but that again is no reason to make a profit off it and in my opinion I feel they have an "I'm going to make you pay for this" attitude because of how ticked they are at KK because of the illdisregard they have protrayed. As I have said, KK should be there willing to dish out as much as the family needs to take care of them. They should not be out a dime ever for this. I don't feel you get "pain and suffering" for a non malicious act. Kaitlyn should receive some money for herself, to be able to take care of things that she WANTS right now, because she is pretty much wheelchair bound and going through therapy, but again, not to make her parents rich off their daughters accident and that is what I get from it. And yes, if I was on the jury, I would say the samething. I feel the family is entitled to some. That all medical bills be sent to KK pertaining this for the rest of her life, and the rest of her life won't be much, that anything paid out in the very beginning, gas, food, gifts, should all be reimbursed to the family and that Kailtyn, have money now to help her through this mentally, but I am not talking millions, I am not even talking big thousands, I'm talking about anything you'd do to comfort any child that has a serious injury. I know this is hard on the child but kids bounce back, I think in my opinion, the people that have this the hardest are the parents, adults dwell on things alot more than kids do. She is lucky she got one attached and it is working well (last I heard), but I do not see this crippling her for the rest of her life. Yes she will be disabled forever, but she can over come this and I am sure she will. I have seen people worse off than her come back and amaze people, and I think she too will do the same.
  4. The right or "fair" thing to do on the park's part is to offer to pay for all damages incurred. That's good PR, that's showing that you actually care. Yes, I agree, and that is just what they did not do. I am so suprised at that, and was let down by at as well. They said no one from KK has followed up on her at all, I feel KK in wrong in that manner, even the owner should of shown up at the hospital and wrote the family out a check that day to take care of the weeks that the family had to live at the hospital.

  6. Exactly as I said. KK should be liable for medical bills and her comfort only! And should not even hesitated to of paid the first bill back when she was in the hospital.. It should never come or came down to the Lasiter family requesting them pay for her care from then on out. I feel the parents are taking advantage of the situation. I believe that Kaitlyn should be entitled to money for her youth, in between and throughout the rest of her life. I don't feel it will take "tons", as the bigget part is behind her, it will take alot, now she needs money for her prosthetics, continued counseling, home adjustments, etc. Yes, to take care of people that get injured I agree, but not to be taken advantage of from money hungry people and that is the way I view it.
  7. The semi issue is a common sense thing though. That's an accident on the trucker's fault, the moron jumped out in front of the semi. When we get on a ride we expect not to die. Sure there's always a chance but that chance is extremely slim. So is getting on a ride! Common sense, you know something can go wrong at ANY TIME. If you put yourself outthere for danger you take a chance to get hurt. And it is the same thing. If you get on a plane, if you ride in car, if you walk down the street. It is a chance you take and you are sure you will come out safe, but why assume that??? Anything can go wrong with the best of intentions and that is why I do not feel that they are liable. They had my kids safety in mind, they had her safety in mind as well as everyone else on the ride that day. It was an accident.
  8. In my opinion, the only thing that could of prevented this is not to allow the feet to hang freely. That is just an accident in the making as it was. I ride rides like that, but I feel that those are endangering more than car rides. Would a "car" type ride prevented this? Yes, so then maybe the maker of the ride should be held liable, not the rider, not the park that bought the ride. If you want to look at it like that, it was a faulty design. So sue the manufacturer.
  9. As of right now, it seems to be that the park has done all they could do. It has been almost a year and it still has not come back to be their fault. And I feel that since Six Flags is such a large corporation they are going to do anything they can to prevent losing money. You find these types of things at carnivals and things like that. Not companies that intend to stay in business and I am sure Six Flags does everything they feel is most important to prevent any disasters happening. That is why this has always been called a Fluke, because it is so rare amoung places like this, Kings Island and Disney. Disney even had a child die on a ride. Was it deemed their fault, no it wasn't. Come to find out the child had a heart condition that the family never knew of. And yes, I do understand the 2 are totally different, but if you put yourself in harms way, you can't expect to sue. I just feel if you put yourself in front of a semi and the semi runs you down the semi is not responsible. Samething here, you sit in that sit and you waive all rights to any lawsuits above medical needs, comfort needs. An accident on a ride should never make you a millionaire. And no I am not saying it may not take a million for kaitlyns bills, and needs, KK should help out with that and not think anything of it and anything else she needs to live a comfortable life, but should not make her a millionaire over that cost.
  10. No amount of money will ever make her whole. Do you not understand when you step on any ride you are putting your life in danger? Do you continue to ride? Do you allow yourself to put your childrens lives in danger, if you ride then the answer is yes. Each one of us ever day do something to put our lives in danger but do we sue everyone? No because it isn't appropriate. When a plane crashes, it is someone elses fault, you sue, but you are the one that got on that plane. It is the same thing. What happens when you are driving on an interstate and you lose controll of your car and you have a limb amputated, are you going to sue the state?? Will you win, no! Why, because you were the one that put yourself in that car and you are the one that has to take the chance of something going wrong. Have you not heard when it is your time to die, you die. Maybe this is just what was meant for her life, yes, that sounds grim, but the way it is. I am disabled, I am not whole, did I sue the homeowner that caused it, no, because it was an accident. Has it broke us, yes it has. But an accident is an accident, this is the samething that happened on that ride that day. KK did not mean for anyone to get hurt, Kaitlyn did not mean to get hurt and her parents did not mean to put her in harms way, but they did. When my 19 year old brother was killed in the Vietnam war did my parents sue Vietnam or the United States Army? No, why because they all knew you step into that world and you may get injured, well he got more than injured he got KILLED! When you go to a store and slip and fall due to water or something, yes, then the store is liable, because that could of been prevented. But a breaking cable, well it is just unknown, have you heard of a freak accident?? That is what it was, something that does not happen all the time. No ride is immune to 24/7 safety, period. And yes, I do know what liable means. And no I do not feel they are liable. The only way the girl could of prevented it is to not go on it. Tell me how KK could have prevented it. If they were truely at fault I feel the test would of came back by now of negligence on their part, it hasn't yet. I just don't believe the family should get millions off of it, it was an ACCIDENT, KK did not do it on purpose. As I said earlier, I do feel Kaitly should not have to worry about any medical bills, from here on out. Nor should she worrry about any other finances that will come along with this. But no amount of money will put her other foot on, no amount of money will fix the problem. Nothing will ever make her whole again.
  11. No, she said she just saw it on the news, do you not understand when I said she didn't understand what it meant???
  12. No, got it around 5:30, I just read an article and she didn't understand what they meant, I told her all is fine you just as a teen can't get a job there operating thrill rides. Which I don't see how the operator had anything to do with it.
  13. No, my opinion would not change. I did not say what you are saying, I said I DO think KK should pay for anything she needs from here on out, I do not believe they should be held liable. It is a risk we all take everytime we get on a ride. I also do believe KK was wrong about how they went about things regarding when it happened, after it happened and etc. Someone from KK should of been at the hospital asking what they can do, instead they blew them off which is wrong. But again, in my opinion I do not think they should be made rich from this and they probably will be. I do believe they are entitle to something just not millions.
  14. Someone told me that, I didn't read it. They emailed me about it. They are from Ky themselves. Let me look it up.
  15. Post can be removed, person told me misunderstood.
  16. It is myself, husband and 3 kids. Can't leave the kids in line alone, and it just would not be the same me waiting with a child and he waiting with the other 2. That is alot of my problem at places, they can walk fast and I can't, so since you can't save a spot in line, they have to get behind dozens of people to meet with me. Then when walking the long walks, people ALWAYS cut in front of us, and I HATE that. That makes me walk faster and puts me in greater pain and plus it is just rude. I am talking about rides like Top Gun, the White Water Canyon, etc. I may talk to to the guest services people and see if they will just allow me to cut line since people always cut in front of me, though I am in line, I slow down everyone else behind me and I feel I should not have to take a back seat because I cannot keep up. Or even to have the 2 oldest go in the regular line and allow myself, husband and youngest to enter on another side, but some of the best memories come from standing together, not apart. I already feel like a 5th wheel, that will really make me feel like an outsider.
  17. well shoot that won't work. I wish they made it like fast pass and give you a time to ride and your whole family rides at that time. Splitting up the family, like I said is no vacation, it would be like being divorced and taking kids to the park Which justs really makes absolutely no sense in my opinion.
  18. Thanks, my first day last year was bad, second day was horrible and just wasn't as much fun. This year, I will probably be buying a motorized wheel chair and have my kids ride in it until I can walk no more. I have been told that at Disney the whole family goes ahead, I forgot to ask if anyone knows about this here. I don't want to have to wait in another line just to wait for them to get to the same place in line I would be. To me that is not a vacation And I also don't want to bring along a little chair as people will look at me strange for toting around a chair and sitting in line.
  19. Does anyone know if guests with mobility difficulties have any alternatives to standing in line?
  20. No, they do NOT. Again, Holiday World has not served a Coke (note the capital letter) in years and years. They do have unlimited Pepsi...and Holiday World and Pepsi would appreciate you remembering that. One reason Pepsi and Holiday World do this is for advertising/marketing value. If you remember the competitor instead, the reason for doing it goes away. Pepsi. Pepsi. Pepsi. Not Coke. Got it? And it most definitely is NOT ALL THE SAME. Pepsi....free with admission at Holiday World. Coke...at least $3.29 and probably more at Kings Island. All the same? I think not. Listen, you do not need to bite my head off, soda is soda, I don't care who makes it. No one is going to go to KI for free Coke over going to HW for free Pepsi! They are going to go where they save the money ESPECIALLY families with more than 1 child! If you NOTICE I did not capitalize Coke, as I said, I should of spoken politically correct and said SODA or COLA, but none the less it is not worth biting someones head off because someone spoke Coke instead of saying Pepsi! Gesh!!!!!!!!
  21. I don't think HW ever did give out free Cokes. http://holidayworld.com/fusd.html Cokes, no. Pepsi, yes. I may be wrong but Carowinds has an unlimited soft drinks wristband that picnicers can get for a price. Coke/Pepsi, it is all the same. But I guess I should speak politically correct so I do not offend one or the other. I myself am a Coke lover, so I just call all brown soda (except rootbeer/cherry colas) Coke...lol But yes, all is free and is much appreciated
  22. Yes, they give free Coke, in about a 12 or 16 ounce cup, it is I think the size of a childs Happy Meal cup or just a tad bit bigger, it is considered the small drink cup at most fast food places. They are known for the free Coke and I think that is why they have so many families attend because moms/dads know the family can drink and eat at the park so they can plan on spending more money elsewhere, or going for more days, like us.
  23. This is my opinion and I think KI should consider it Anyway, I have been to KI since late 70's, now I am a 40 year old mom with 3 kids of my own and like to share all my experiences with them and add new ones. We are a major theme park family. I am disabled but I walk the parks. Because it is too much on me to walk to the front, leave and walk back to where we are, last year, since I was extremely sore, and we had eaten there just 2 years prior at Chic Fila, we loved it and felt we would share a meal and then eat dinner out later. Well on that day last year, we all were famished, so I sent my husband to get food, and when he came back with half of what we ordered I asked him why he only got enough for 3 people and he told me due to how much it cost, he said we could of gone to Tumbleweed on what it cost for that meal. We got 1 order of nuggets in which my 9 yr old son and I shared, 4 sodas, 2 fries and 3 chicken sandwhiches, he still has not told me the price because he knows I will get made over it, but I asked him months down the road if it cost $40 and he said higher, he said if we went to Tumbleweed and I bought a Margarita and we all ate our norms, we would be slightly under. We normally spend $50-$75 at Tumbleweed and walk out stuffed and with left overs. Here, we had to end up leaving and going to Popeyes because we were still starving, so in reality, we spent basically $100 on lunch . Now, what I do not get, I am from Southern Indiana so KI and Holiday World we frequent alot. How can HW give FREE Cokes ALL DAY LONG TO ALL GUESTS and still run a great park (water park is 10 times better than KI) and still have low food prices and still maintain and superbly clean park????? There is something going on that 1 can and 1 won't. HW is smaller, but do pull in major crowds. We order a pizza at the water park before we go swimming, all 5 of us eat for less than $6, I want to say the pizza was $3, but I don't remember! That includes a total of 5 drinks and 5 refills at that time. So this year when we go to KI I refuse to eat at the park anymore, if I have to drag myself out and back I will , I would rather spend that food money on another $20 1 day ticket, shoot, we can do KI for $100 per day (all 5 of us), so in my opinion that is cheaper and better. No more feeding the monster until they learn not to scalp me
