  1. You won't be disappointed everyone! Fun fun ride. More to come later after work!
  2. So question is, is it backlit or will there be lights added like on Mavericks? Otherwise, very similar to Maverick's. Maybe they will add a few things to the sides (Never said it was finished did they?): http://www.rcdb.com/ig3570.htm?picture=39
  3. Part of that 10 mil for new boards also replaced the left field wall displays! So new main board, new left field wall board, new digital banners in right field, and I'm thinking also the boards around the stadium on the facades down the lines. I've heard a few people say they are quite amazing.
  4. From the looks of that picture, there has been some landscaping installed between the lift hill and splashdown. Some evergreens maybe? Me likey if that's the case.
  5. Are we sure they painted Vortex? I hadn't heard they were, and they just did so a few years ago, so I can't imagine they would again.
  6. The fence is in fact a few feet away from the track, allowing for the train to fly by inside the fence. I still maintain the fence is more to deter birds and other objects from getting in the way. I think the water and all the other fences should be plenty to deter people. If someone does happen to jump in to the lake, I think the ops will have plenty of time for shut down before the person gets in the way, since they have to swim some.
  7. Well those new pix show off the addition of the chain link fence in the splashdown. I'm not sure what was ever decided what it was for, but my guess is to keep stray ducks and geese away from the moving trains, if one was bold enough to hang out on the splashdown!
  8. The DB sign/entrance looks as though it will be very similar to Maverick's: http://www.rcdb.com/ig3570.htm?picture=39
  9. People should know that people ride rides before they infact open to the public. Such as the park personnel, the ride construction crews, the designers, etc. This is widely publicized in shows on Discovery and Travel Channels. That's why it's called the "First Public Rides." The fact that they told us people have already ridden DB isn't a revelation, nor should it come as a surprise.
  10. But at the same time, DBs isn't interactive with a walkway like Griffon or Skeikra. Aesthetically, DBs is definitely better. But I really do like the look of Sheikra's splash area. And look at all the kids (and adults) having a blast!
  11. Sorry.. I chose not to do that cause there are some people whos internet connection isnt the greatest and takes forever to load images... like me ._. Good thought, but in this day and age, I doubt there are very few people who don't have a high speed connection.
  12. The floors are built into the station building, and retract before the train can leave. This is Griffon's station and how it works, which is similar to all floorless':
  13. Sorry it's cropped all weird, but I liked the rooster tail in all the sunlight:
  14. What??? Who said anything about a bathing suit? If you read some of the previous posts with quotes, clearly certain posts have been deleted. Making other posts kind of confusing.
  15. Now no dummies remain! OMFG!!!!!1111 all the dummies fell out! First time I've caught a train exiting the MCBR
  16. Those are not where paint has "flaked off." It's the welds from where the track section were welded together and then smoothed down. The touch up paint hasn't been applied yet and most likely won't be until just before opening. Thanks for the clarification. For some reason I thought the only thing keeping the sections of track together were bolts. Well the bolts are really what's doing the holding together. But the rails are welded and smoothed to make the ride even smoother. Mini gaps could potentially make the ride rougher, so they fill them in and smooth them out. In my opinion, paint last 3 years or so before being noticeable faded (look at TTD), and 4 or 5 before it flakes (Millennium), and more time it starts looking bad IMO.

  18. I was thinking the same thing about the queue. Is it in fact as small as it looks? That doesn't really look like it'll hold 2 hours or more of line (ahem Maverick definitely doesn't!). I would hope this line could hold that and then some.
  19. Looking good! Now if they would only remove that trim brake before the second drop that used to deliver a wallop of airtime!
  20. Looks like the foundations for what I assume to be the queue line are being laid. It's no longer a big ol' muddy patch!
  21. Um, wow... Looking through the list of websites. I wonder how some of these sites ended up on their potential best list. The one in particular I noticed was "meatspin.com". Now, I wouldn't suggest looking this one up at work or school. But wtf? I know from a few pranks played that this is a good prank site. But in no way is appropriate. I am currently at a school computer lab, but unless I'm wrong, I'm almost certain this is the "prank" site (and thus really inappropriate).
  22. Yay for single rider line! Albeit similar to Maverick's which isn't as good as it can be.. But still: http://www.kiDiamondback.com/public/latest...ge&chip=496
  23. Just for all of you since the webcam is cycling slow or not working. So question: In the animations, only the highlights of the trains change color, but it appears the full train are actually different colors. Is it indeed the full train going to be different colors from train to train (making the animation wrong, yes I know it was based on what they knew)?
  24. I was gonna say... We had 21 inches in mid march here in Cbus last year? Please knock on wood for all of us. Winter tends to come later here in these parts of Ohio. Edit: Holy crapoli! I was watching the cam and missed it too! awesome!
