  1. I really don't understand their policy on the Single Riders Line, but I have a hunch they'll soon drop it and just keep the SRL open constantly. Keeping people waiting in a line outside of the queue, confusing guests that are just trying to get into the normal line ("What's going on, is it closed?"), just so that the line inside of the queue doesn't go past the bottom of the stairs is absurd to say the least. There is a lot of wasted effort on the part of the employees working the front of the queue, needing to direct normal riders past the Single Rider queue. So long as there is a considerable line for the ride, the SRL should be open to anyone willing to fill an empty seat regardless of how long it gets. My buddy and I went to get into the SRL on Saturday right when they opened it up and the girl tried to tell us we couldn't do it since we were together. He was all worried that we were doing something we weren't supposed to (clearly an amusement park amateur ), but I assured him there was nothing they could do. It was nice waiting ten minutes instead of 45 since we don't have season passes and wanted to get as much in as we could. We weren't trying to cheat the system, we just wanted to get on the ride. We were willing to ride separate from each other, and we did. I even lucked out and got to ride in row 16, which was fantastic. Single Rider means you're willing to ride alone to fill what would be an otherwise empty seat, not that you don't know anybody else in line. Unfortunately it's not a logistical possibility, but I'd love to see more Single Rider lines. So many times I see empty seats on The Beast thinking, "Ah, but that could be me!". I remember my last trip to Universal Studios five years ago was greatly improved by the Single Rider Lines they've got.
  2. I don't think they hire aggressive enough security guards. They all seem pretty passive aggressive. I went to the Knievel jump with my dad. He didn't have a pass so we had to stand outside of the designated area. So many people were jumping the fence. The lady near where we stood tried chasing about 2 people down before just giving up. If she had kicked them out maybe she would have set an example, but she did nothing but chase the people down, thus taking her eye off of her patrol area and causing 20 or so people to flood into the area. I'm not saying that I really care about that particular thing, because it's not like the viewing area was even near full, but you would think they would hire aggressive people to the job of security, not people who are just going to let things slide.
  3. I remember in like 95 we got my mom this cheesy Brady Bunch calendar with trivia questions. One of them read something like "What was the amusement park Mike took the family too?" "It was an amusement park on Kings Island in Ohio".
  4. A waste of time? I personally think seeing a once in a lifetime stunt jump is much more worthy of my time than standing on line for 2 hours to ride Flight Deck on the most crowded day the park has probably ever seen. That's just me though.
  5. I was at the park yesterday as well and saw both areas. Obviously I didn't get to see as much of the jump area though. You said Catch 22 is playing? What other bands are they having appear?
  6. I haven't ridden Firehawk yet, but I did ride Borg Assimilator at Carowinds a few summers ago. They are clones if I'm not mistaken. What an incredible ride. I said the loop. I rode twice that day, once near the front and once at the very back. Two VERY different experiences surprisingly, especially going through the loop. I'm very excited to ride Firehawk next month.
  7. According to the calendar on the King Island website that is going to be a Math & Science day. I went to two of those in grade school and the place was PACKED. And that was like a Thursday when it was strictly M&S access. If it's going to be the M&S crowd added onto the general public, it might be pretty crowded. Sorry to be raining on the parade, but I was looking at the dates on the calendar and noticed this. I could be completely wrong about the crowd though!
  8. I think I can explain the blackout comment. Nearly every time I ride it I get very light headed and my vision tunnels. I've never been too close to actually blacking out, but I've been on my way there. I think it's got to do with how quickly you hit the consecutive inversions and the fact that blood is rushing away from the head due to the high vertical g's. It usually starts happening to me after going through the vertical loop the second time. I'm guessing SOB TOM has actually blacked out as opposed to my nearly blacking out.
  9. This story sort of applies to the topic. Back when the safari ride was still there, apparently animals broke out rather often. A lion cub escaped at some point and ended up in my mother's neighbor's garage. How crazy would it be to open your door and see a baby lion in your garage? Now that I write it out, it seems pretty out there, but I'm just reporting what she's told me.
  10. Ever since I started frequenting Festaus for lunch during a day at KI (6 years or so) I've always wanted there to be a show instead of the awful and obnoxious music videos. I'm glad they did that this year. I look forward to checking it out next month.
