  1. Not go somewhere else to work but live someplace else. If they are on a work Visa and KI is sponsoring them I think it would be wrong for KI to REQUIRE them to live where they tell them just so they could alegedly make money from their rent. IF that is what is going on then KI should be ASHAMED!
  2. I have mixed feelings about the interview. I do not begin to know how a VISA works unless it is on a small plastic card that I use to buy things with BUT if they are that unhappy with their housing then why can't they go live someplace else. If they are paying that much money surely they could find another place to live. When I worked at the park they would schedule you to carpool with someone if you requested it (this was Paramount but I can't see Cedar Fair not doing the same). I know Don Helbig is not their supervisor and can't comment but if they do wind up firing someone because they talked to 9 then I feel that would be VERY wrong. Granted they should have bugged the heck out of HR until they found someone who would listen. I guess they have got to experience one thing America is known for... how big corporations generally only care about the money and not the employees. KI did nothing until they were caught with their pants down so to speak. I hope both parties can learn from this and some good can come out of it.
  3. If I could have my own little "apartment" at the park, it'd be above the LaRosa's in Rivertown. I believe there's a staff lounge up there with a staircase leading to the top from outside. Each morning you could walk down and be the first rider on The Beast I worked for the security dept. for KI (then PKI) in 1998. I was in the gates division so third shift in the park was every three weeks. There is an apartment above the LaRosa's. It still has that 60s/70s look to the decor (at least it did 10 years ago). The LaRosa's family has a lifetime lease on it and can stay there anytime they want to. The glassblowers also have a lifetime lease in the park. The park is VERY quiet at night and is "spooky" in some places. Driving the little 3 speed golf cart down the dirt road by The Beast at night sent chills. You always had the feeling something or someone was watching you. Maybe it was high EMFs or maybe not. Many people have slept at the park. Some were allowed and others were not. There was one guy who had been kicked out by his g/f and was living at the park. He managed to dodge security for several days but they finally found his hiding spot. That was right before I started working there. All in all it was a great place to work and a really fun department to work in. We got to see areas of the park that most of the public will never see. If you REALLY want to spend a night at KI work for the security department/gates.
  4. First Post woohoo! Ten years ago I worked for the security dept at KI. You would be amazed at how many critters run through that park at night time. Snakes, deer, racoons, skunks, and as the story went a lion got out of its enclosure one night when they still had the monorail train ride and was walking by the fountains on International Street. I have never seen a snake during the day at the park when it was open but I was stopped by security at the Beach Waterpark one time due to a snake on the trail to a slide. I would not worry to much about the snakes. I am scared to death of bees but that does not keep me from riding (although the yellow jackets by bubba gumps last year freaked me out a little). Paul
