  1. Congratulations Malem! He is the perfect person for this role and I have no doubt that he will be successful.
  2. I enjoyed the park and hope to get back at some point next season. Been wanting to head down and check it out, especially Storm Chaser. That and Lightning Run did not disappoint.
  3. I'm not familiar with where Chang used to be. Where in the park was it?
  4. Some notes from today... First Responders got in free. Free drinks for them all day long supposedly. Kroger had a company picnic there today as well. $19.95 for out of state visitors, except those who live in the Indiana counties of Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott, and Washington. They gave away the gate today, or deeply discounted it to boost attendance. Kentucky Kingdom is a clean little park. I hope it succeeds- I really do. Time will only tell. Hartland has some things that I believe hurt it. Location being the biggest of them all, also it doesn't help that part of the park has a height restriction and can't go much higher than 100 feet or so. Also, the layout of the park is quite confusing. Cross the road to get to T3, Thunder Run and Storm Chaser. I got last train of the season on Storm Chaser. Was that train the last before Kentucky Kingdom possibly shuts down again for good? Again, time will only tell.
  5. Decent crowd here today at Kentucky Kingdom. Two train op on T3, Lightning Run, and Storm Chaser. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk
  6. Today was a busy one that's for sure. Arrived around 12:00 and parked in Row 9. That's down near The Bat on the GWL side of the parking lot. I was with the NoChickens and Magenta Lizard, lunch at Reds. They ordered for me and my food arrived shortly after I got there. 45 minutes for Hanks towards the end of the night. Lines for $1 pizza in the Festhaus around 4pm were all the way back to Panda Express. Lines throughout for $1 drinks, $1 hotdogs, and $1 pizza were long across the park. Not many rides today that's for sure. The Bat, blue side of Racer, Diamondback, Banshee, and the KI&MV RR. Park was the busiest I've seen in a good while.
  7. This is something that I've brought to the attention of the mods. I've had to dig through the TOS for reference in the past. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk
  8. Don't forget YoungStud!Goes by Genesis on there if I'm not mistaken. Don't know if he's posted recently. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk
  9. Lines surprisingly weren't too terribly bad this evening to be honest. Got a hot dog, slice of pizza, and blue ice cream. Waited no more than 5 minutes for any of these. As an aside, I did stop into Sweet Spot on the way out tonight, and tried a couple samples of fudge. Peanut Butter Oreo and Blue Ice Cream. The Oreo one was decent, the Blue Ice Cream one tasted like a piece of taffy (the blue taffy in the souvenir boxes sold in Pigeon Forge come to mind)
  10. ^ Is KIE even around anymore? I haven't heard about it in forever.
  11. I'd be up for volunteering if needed. I've been here for quite some time and have seen a lot....new coasters, new rides, a waterpark expansion, the transition from Nickels to Ouimet, the fall of the Son, and the return of Winterfest to name a few. During the most recent "Decoding" thread, I saw quite a bit in the way of TOS violations, fighting, and hostility towards one another. On numerous occasions I've had to point out the TOS to several posters. This isn't the KIC that I joined in 2008. I'd like to see it go back to what it was in the past.* I've formed many lifelong friendships, thanks to KIC. I'd like to see that the site is around for years to come, with a long standing relationship with the park. Thank you Dane, Ronny, Ryan, and gang for providing a forum for our favorite park! *When I say this the phrase "U Mad Bro?" doesn't come to mind.
  12. Flats Cedar Downs for sure as TheBEASTunchained said above. Only one of two in the United States, I believe. Cadillac Cars (which is right next to Cedar Downs) is highly recommended- they're like the classic cars we used to have before Backlot Stunt Coaster opened. There's another set in the park back in Frontiertown (near Maverick and Skyhawk) Tiki Twirl- Similar to a Scrambler but it's at an angle. Beach side of the park, Wicked Twister/Gatekeeper area. Coasters Maverick- My personal favorite at Cedar Point. Best seat on the ride front row, left side. Terpy will agree with me on this one. Magnum- Highly recommend this one as well. First hypercoaster ever built. Amazing ejector air in the first car. Blue Streak- Ride this toward the front. All rides toward the front for me this season have delivered superb airtime Millennium Force- First gigacoaster ever built. Non-stop speed from start to finish. Ride this toward the front. Valravn- Definitely try for a front row ride if you can. Middle row is decent. Back row wasn't as enjoyable for me. Mean Streak- if this one wasn't closing, I'd pass on it. Ride it for the credit only Gatekeeper- outer seat on the left side, row 8 if you can. The keyholes and the drop are the best part of the ride for me. The rest are decent coasters, some similar to what KI has. The only credits I don't have at CP are Dragster, Rougarou, Wicked Twister, Jr. Gemini or whatever it's called now, and Woodstock Express. Should have taken a ride on the Friday night I was there. 15 minutes before close, and it was a walk on. Closed the rest of the weekend. Let me know if I can assist further!
  13. I'm hoping the Resort Gate at Cedar Point gets an upgrade as a result of the Soak City/CP Shores conversion. The Marina Gate saw an upgrade this year with Valravn, the Main Entrance in 2013 when Gatekeeper was built. The Beach gate, I'm not sure when it was redone. Thinking a few years back when Lakeside Pavilion was redone? Right now, the Resort Gate is the weakest of the four in my opinion. Just looking at the waterpark going up the lift on Magnum, you can see how much smaller it is compared to our waterpark. With Challenge Golf and Challenge Park on the way out and the possibility of Ripcord going into the main park, that frees up a little bit of space for CP to work with.
  14. Banshee Media Day. I used my debit card to pay for a locker. Paid for only 2 hours and went back to my locker after that time had expired. A supervisor had to open the locker so I could get my card and extend the rental. I believe it may still be the same process- not 100% sure though.
  15. Thank you for sharing! I was at the park Friday-Sunday and yesterday was the busiest out of the three days I was there. Checked the app right before I left yesterday. 60 minutes for Corkscrew, 2 hours for Valravn, 30 minutes for Mean Streak. Friday and Saturday (after it rained) weren't too bad. Waited at most an hour for Maverick on Friday night (went down due to issues on one of the trains) App gave a wait time of 40 minutes after Luminocity for Millennium Force. Waited at most 15 minutes for a ride towards the front.
  16. Just got back from 3 days at the park. The lockers by Valravn and Millennium Force are a two hour minimum for $2. Each hour is an additional $1. These were the only lockers that we used this weekend.
  17. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2016/08/08/army-corps-raises-newport-ferris-wheel-project-concerns/88436252/ Army Corp of Engineers has concerns about the SkyWheel slated for Newport, KY.
  18. Visited Indiana Beach with chugh43 this past weekend. I see a ton of potential for the park. Having been purchased by Apex and it being led by Al Weber I see good things coming to Monticello. Chris did say that it looked a whole lot better than it did it last year when he visited. I definitely want to go back to ride what I didn't ride this time around. Food prices were reasonable, and the environment screams old-time amusement park. I love it! I could play Fascination all day long! Left two coaster credits on the table...Cornball Express and Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain as they were closed. Favorite coaster there was Steel Hawg. Tig'rr was a fun ride but with only a seatbelt I didn't heed warning to prepare for right turns. My sides are still bruised! Hoosier Hurricane is one of the roughest wooden coasters I've ridden, and they have an amazing selection of flats! Especially the dark ride and the Tilt-A-Whirl. First time I've seen someone smoking a cigarette while nailing boards on a wooden coaster as well!
  19. When I first read the topic and replied on it last night, I immediately took to YouTube. Below are a couple of videos if you've never experienced the FL version of Tower of Terror or are intrigued by the ride technology itself.
  20. The theming on Tower of Terror is amazing as it stands currently- the presentation and the finite details, the storyline, the ride system itself (supposedly a joint venture between Disney and Otis), all the way down to the Cast Members themselves. I've only ridden the Florida version, so I'm not sure if there are more differences than similarities between the FL and CA versions, but Tower of Terror has to be one of the best themed rides that I have ever experienced. As for the transition from Tower of Terror to Guardian of the Galaxy, I'm a bit disappointed to see that it's going to be changing in a radical fashion, but won't give up hope just yet. I'm curious to see what Disney and the production staff from the film have planned. The ride has been a staple at Disney World for 20+ years now, and I can't see die hard Disney fans taking the news well if something similar is coming to Florida. Going through the comments so far on the YouTube video that Goble posted above, I'm seeing more negative comments than positive ones. Only time will tell.
  21. They were assigning seats on The Beast when I was there last Thursday night. Never have I seen seats be assigned in all the years I've been riding.
  22. I'm not exactly sure what you order it with. Asked the server what all sauces they had and that was one of them. Kind of hard to describe the taste at the moment but it's got a decent amount of heat and a nice tang to it.
  23. Has anyone else tried the Boom Boom sauce at RHOFG? I tried it about a week ago and it's amazing.
  24. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cedar-fair-to-buy-paramount-parks-for-124-billion http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/news/stories/20060701_01.shtml Today marks 10 years since the sale of Paramount Parks to Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (formerly Cedar Fair L.P.) finalized. In the $1.24 billion deal, Kings Island and its sister parks Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland, and California's Great America. Seems like it was only yesterday! What are your thoughts on the last 10 years and what are your hopes for the next 10 years?
  25. I will confirm this as I just rode The Beast this evening. Right after the first turn coming out of the drop on the right hand side, you can see the clearing about 3/4 the way up the second lift hill if you look to your right.
