  1. Great find on the commercial. Trying to remember what the statues (who moved their arms) said as you rode up the hill. I remember it sounding like, "We will get you!" but not sure
  2. Seems kind of trashy TBH. I very, very rarely buy anything at these (exit through the) gift shops, but to me it is all part of the experience, at least browsing to see what they had...esp. with such a brandable coaster like Banshee.
  3. I've realized that any coasters that bang you around-esp. your head-get me a bit rattled. The effect is multiplied if I haven't had enough to eat. In bad cases, it will linger all day and I won't feel like riding much more. Maybe my worse experience of this was a day that started with Invertigo...but Firehawk has done it as well. I stay away from both. It really happens whenever I ride too much too fast. A nice greasy breakfast and 2 alleves seems to numb things up so that it doesn't happen.
  4. I hope they revive the Bavarian theming in this area somehow. Take advantage of the trees and create great shaded atmosphere. Live/roaming bands or at least blast it from all the speakers. Some great themed flats including a Skyhawk. The Festhaus should be a cheerful refuge from the heat and brimming with German food, drink, and music at all times and move away from the 'employee cafeteria' motif they have going on now. For years they have squandered arguably the most impressive building in the park.
  5. Rode AE for the 1st time in years yesterday. Made me think back to when it first opened and wonder about how it was received back then. I remember as a 13/14 year old being quite disappointed given that it was the 1st coaster since Vortex and was rather tame-esp. given the teaser lift hill at the very end...seemed very kid-like. But riding it now it did not seem so lame. Sure it's not too intense, but it has its charms all the same. The 48'' requirement means it'll be one of the 1st 'big' rides my son gets to experience and I'm sure he (6 year old) will eat it up. My question for the OGs is how was it marketed/received when it first went in? Was the expectation to split the difference age-wise and attract younger and older riders? What was the overall reception? How did the project come about? My thoughts on it had always been that is was half-baked and that the concept was awesome, but the final product was low on intensity and high on cheesiness, leaving riders debating with themselves whether or not they liked it. Just wondering if anyone has any specific nuggets of info or memories.
  6. I must say I was a little surprised when I saw that another major attraction was coming. But with 2012 and the 40th-it makes sense. I like the waterpark but I really hope it is the addition of an actual ride. Any Intamin coaster would be amazing-and it's something we're missing. My personal fantasy is a double-terminal destination launch coaster. 2 high-arching tracks..2 launch mechanisms. One in Rivertown-one in AZ. You would launch a-la TTD-but instead of straight up, around and down-you would blast in a straight line and then float all the way to the other side of the park. The track would maximize air-time and the sensation would be getting shot out of a cannon and landing on the other side of the park. I'm sure the sheer real estate necessary-plus the need for 2 launch mechanisms would make it prohibitive-but a guy's gotta dream.
  7. Some of these complaints are hillarious. I had never gone until last year and I absolutely LOVED it. The theming on the haunts is great, the scare actors are creative and scary, and the good rides are open taboot. It's Halloween people!! It's the one time of year to cast aside our devout facade and revel in the baser elements of our being. This is why guys dress like Satan, and girls dress like slvts on H-ween. I honeslty think it is one of the best uses of the park, and it really highlights the creepiness that place can have in the dark. If you don't like the rowdiness, the gore, and the satanic overtones-then don't go. In the words of Hank Hill: TRICK OR TREAT!......TRICK OR TREAT!!!!!
  8. Thanks for the tips! Are their versions of BLSC and FoF a lot different from KI's? Avalanche looks great just for the novelty...hopefully it won't be too packed!
  9. My wife and I will be visiting King's Dominion next Sunday...putting the PP to good use. It looks like they have some great coasters, and obviously one awesome new one. Just have a few questions: -Any 'flow' we should follow through the park? -About how long should we expect to wait for I305? -What are the other 'must-ride' coasters? -What are some good flats? -Why did they get rid of that launch coaster-it looked sweet!
  10. My problem is that my wife can't be there but I'd like to use her pass to get a $9.99 ticket (so I can bring both my parents)
  11. I was wondering if I can purchase 'bring a friend' tickets for Sunday in advance.
  12. When the paper published speculation (originating from this site), that massive construction was afoot in Rivertown. I soon became a member here and have followed DB's life ever since.
  13. Pros-You are right on the edge right on the rail. Cons-Since you're right on the rail, it is a bit rougher.
  14. It was great tonight...got 9 rides in...no wait on Drop Tower either. Going to have to go back to check out the haunts...seemed like they'd be pretty cool.
  15. Thanks guys...sounds like it might be worth it!
  16. Well, my friends are bailing on HH tonight and I'm debating what to do. If I go alone, I really just want to bang out some rides on DB-for it has been quite a while. But if I'm looking at long lines I may just skip it. Any estimate on DB lines tonight?
  17. I'd love to see Octoberfest be revived. The bier garten there is still one of the best chill spots in the whole park...and yes, I'd much rather see polka than country.
  18. Pondering whether or not to get another PP-made good use this year. Quick question though-the 2 new coasters at Carowinds and KD are the only two big additions at any CF park-right?? Not complaining, just trying to plan.
  19. Sorry for the ignorance-but are Gold/Platinum passes good to get is into HH??
  20. Bring your own water Tailgate in the lot-I've found this is a nice rest anyway Fill those DB souvenir cups with whatever adult beverage you feel
  21. I could hear the roar while playing the Grizzly course with my buddy. It freaked him out because he knew I'd make him ride it later that day. Impressive you can hear it across a golf course, parking lot, and highway. I like the break in all sounds as you float over those hills.
  22. Heading up this Sunday....was a pretty busy Friday when I went in July. Any clues as to what to expect on Sunday?
  23. I'm sure they will be different and awesome similar to DB and MF. I bet on I305 you'll feel the power and the speed-accentuated by twisting that close to the ground. These sensations of Maverick are nuts, so I can imagine being spread out over larger areas it will be even better-and 305?!? That is very tall-right into a NASCAR-like turn. Carowinds Intimiator looks very similar to DB-which is a great thing. The mis-direction over the 2nd hill could be crazy. Another anti-gravity float machine that is much more intense than it looks.
