  1. ^And not everything is going to have B&M level capacity. I am willing to sacrifice a bit of capacity for the sake of variety.
  2. Big parks shouldn't be afraid to add in smaller coasters. They do have more demographics to work with than the thrill seeking crowd.
  3. A European Paramount Park of some sort somewhere has been allegedly under development for the better part of the last decade now. I'm taking this with a molecule of salt. When there's vertical construction, then they'll perk my interest.
  4. I get that some of you are frustrated about the lines, but with only a few days facing customers, they are doing well. It's not as easy of a job as we'd like to think. As a KI Food Department alumni and a current food service employee- yeah, it actually is easy as we'd like to think.
  5. One more thing before I'm done ranting- Out of curiosity, how does Six Flags implement their dining plan?
  6. If the KI employees really want to see a fast Skyline restaurant, they should go to one of the ones downtown or in Clifton to see how speed is really done. Its impressive watching those locations go.
  7. ^LaRosa's crust on their hand tossed and thin crust pizzas (the ones most similar to KI's) taste better than in the park. Setting them under heat lamps doesn't help either. Also, KI, please add calzones and their good hoagies to the menu. Please and thank you.
  8. In regards to Skylines' lines, at least KI only has to serve ways, fries and coneys. On a busy day, our drive-thru line circles the building for customers who order the more complicated things (our fries are cooked to order due to not having a place for them which takes about 3 minutes, wraps, burritos, chilitos, potatoes and salads also take a while to make, chili cheese sandwiches also take slightly longer). We rarely have people walk in to make take out orders. I think the in-park Skylines should adopt a similar model (along with adding a few of the items found outside the park). If they must do it the way they are, they should have numbered tickets and designated areas for customers to wait on food. Also, they should have at least 4 people manning the steam table instead of 2 with the customer flow they have (that's how we staff at ours during the busy hours, though, we have it where there are 2 people on coneys, one on ways and another at burrito bar, KI should do 2 on coneys and 2 on ways and should have it where workers can work on 2 sides of a steam table). To top it off they should have at least 2 registers going. ' I also see they have a pathetic amount of spaghetti and chili to work with at a time and the grills for the hot dogs aren't that big. It looks like they have to change it out a lot. Get bigger pots and grills. Also offer more than 1 size for the ways (we have small, regular and large, KI only has the large size). That will make things go even faster with having to serve smaller portions. And for goodness sake, don't drench things in chili unless its requested. Its just one even flick of the wrist (which takes some practice) to get an even layer across. I also wonder if KI knows how to make stuff dry and juicy.
  9. Considering CF relocated a WindSeeker tower, relocating the similarly sized Drop Tower to another park wouldn't be that far out of the question. Also, I don't think its downtime is that bad where removal is an issue.
  10. Well, they were bought out by WhiteWater Attractions. http://www.whitewaterattractions.com/ ^Products- Water Rides- Super Flume http://www.whitewaterwest.com/hopkinsrides.html I know I'm using Wikipedia as a source for this, but since Hopkins no longer exists, its all I have to work with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hopkins_Rides So correction- I hope its a WhiteWater Attractions Super Flume.
  11. If we do get a new/replacement flume, my hopes is that it will be a Hopkins product. Daredevil Falls at Dollywood is pretty much my favorite flume ride ever. If KI could create a flume with even 1/4 the theming that Dollywood used and puts in a decent size drop, that would be spectacular and a very worthy replacement for RFYLCB.
  12. They can disagree all they want, but they are unlikely to see a B&M anytime soon. Cedar Fair only buys $20+ million dollar rides from B&M. I do think Michigan's Adventure will receive a new coaster in the next few years, just not a B&M. With attendance estimated to be below 1 million people a year the best they are likely to see is a $10 million dollar ride. Lots of great rides can fit in that kind of budget just not a B&M. Valleyfair is in the same position. Likely to see a new ride but not a B&M. Uh...I was just correcting him in his saying that Valleyfair was the only CF park without a B&M. I don't know how you interpreted all of that from my small post... silver2005, also learning the darndest things around here.
  13. ^Michigan's Adventure would like to disagree with you.
  14. ^That and we would finally get our long awaited restroom in X-Base if that's the case.
  15. So Goble, if this thread is Episode II, then will it be full of bad dialogue, a forced romance, and Jar Jar Binks affecting the entire Cedar Fair universe?
  16. Vortex fireworks rides are highly underrated. With Vortex's intense layout, the inversions and speed, its an awesome bit of beautiful chaos.
  17. Wasn't the launch site closer to where Firehawk is now and was moved because of Firehawk's location?
  18. They have to do that. Rozzi's shoots the fireworks not even 100 yards from where the big guy roams (close to the covered brake run). They don't want to risk embers or debris hitting riders. They also have to check the track for said embers before clearing it to ride.
  19. That certain CF park doesn't have to deal with as harsh of winters as Kings Island as well.
  20. You guys definitely lucked out on the weather this year compared to opening day for the previous few years.
  21. If this were a giga, we'd be seeing way, way more clearing and footers by now. Diamondback and Banshee had clearing and footers on the ground by the 2008 and 2013 opening days respectively.
  22. Question- is there any sort of netting above the soccer game below Diamondback's carousel curve?
  23. I think we need to dispense with the timing issue on whether this is a coaster or not. Its clear Ouimet runs the chain differently than Kinzel did, including with parks' future plans and how major attractions are added. With Kings Island being one of CF's top tier parks and with Kings Island being a park that tries new things (remember how the park was the first to utilize Dinosaurs Alive!, Fast Lane, and the meal plans?), they could be trying out new ways to incorporate rides into their future, including how they're spaced. Say what you want about how Holiday World is run, but with their addition of Thunderbird, Kings Island still has to keep on their toes. Though Kentucky Kingdom is slightly more under KI's radar than what they were during the Six Flags era, they do share enough of a market where Kings Island has to make a mark. Sure, the park has a fairly new Banshee under their belt and other things more in their favor, but they are still vying for customers from similar markets to HW and KK. I think a coaster for 2017, or anything equally surprising compared to what we're used to seeing from Kings Island would be perfectly warranted. See Kings Island's response to KK's build up in the late 90's.
