  1. ^I agree with those points, but they could also make a flying coaster go out over the midway or something, give it some midway interactive elements to it as well (see Manta). Also, some parks have built interesting things into small places. See Hersheypark and Knott's.
  2. Hmmm...its like all the parks on that list have new attractions or something....
  3. I have had 2 incidents with loose articles on rides. One was at Kings Dominion's Rebel Yell where they did stop the ride, which ruined the racing aspect of course, for someone with a camera (back in '04). The other was a few years ago at Haunt where some kid had the flash on his camera on a constant strobe throughout his ride on Beast, after which, security was waiting for him at the station. So it does happen. Perhaps not very often? I hear Racer crews getting on people all the time for loose articles. You can hear the loudspeaker on the lift from as far away as WindSeeker.
  4. I will agree that a lot of these type of lists come from sources that often don't get facts about coasters and amusement parks correct, but I still try to read them as they show how the GP and the media perceives parks. They still have slight impacts on public opinion on parks and trends they latch onto. I find them a bit fascinating within that notion.
  5. This is the same Guinness that gave Goliath at SFGAm wooden coaster records after all.
  6. I still don't get the whole TTD one trick pony thing. Sure its short, but it pulls off 2 pretty big tricks. I'm torn between this being a dive coaster and a flying coaster. While it would be cool to see a dive coaster in the area, I've heard the rumor of a flying coaster coming to CP for quite a while (however true it is or not). However, given the area this is supposedly in, a dive coaster makes sense given it can be made much more compact than what you'd want out of a flying coaster.
  7. I can see the argument for Kings Dominion because of the market its in. Most people would probably gravitate towards Busch Gardens over Kings Dominion.
  8. How in the world does Cedar Point, the park most of the GP worships and adores, make the list, let alone some of CF's top performing parks?
  9. Bizarro at NJFTP is one I'd highly recommend. Floorless coaster 0g rolls and corkscrews are pure bliss.
  10. Much like inverted coasters, floorless coasters are often best in the front.
  11. ^I ride Vortex pretty similarly. After the train crests the 2nd hill, my hands are firmly on the restraints until the MCBR due to how forceful it is. I let my body go with the flow until after the batwing and then hold on again for the helix and for the brakes as they're now stacking more often and stopping on that first set of block brakes is a super hard stop. If you want some nice visuals on Vortex, try to look to the side when you're on the loops and/or batwing and try to look down the corkscrews. I also like to look straight up when Delirium is at full swing.
  12. Or just avoid Dayton altogether. I-75 seems to be perpetually under construction, at least every time I've been through Dayton.
  13. @Magenta Lizard- It could be a rehearsal for the Off The Charts! show that opens a week from today. They have live instrumentation including guitars, drums and horns. They had tryouts months ago. silver2005, who plans to be at the park that day.
  14. Will KK even have the money to do a Twisted Twins refurb so soon? They only get something around $1.5-2 million a year from here on out, right (assuming things elsewhere go their way)?
  15. UC covers pretty much the entire tri-state area. They've gone as far as places like Florence, KY, Middletown, Ohio, and parts of Indiana. UC also has a hospital in West Chester. The Air Care operates out of Butler County Regional Airport, though they do tend to stay around the Clifton hospital. They could get to KI pretty quickly from wherever though.
  16. I imagine UC Air Care might be involved with that kind of thing as well.
  17. Well, its kind of obvious which movie to go with. Who else would you call?
  18. I remember AT marketed Thirteen by saying guests would have to fill out a waver before riding trying to hint to how intense it was supposed to be. They also labeled their big ride projects as 'Secret Weapons'.
  19. It was likely a stall that stopped it in the loop. If you look at the trains, they don't look like the most aerodynamic trains ever built, that's for sure. For a ride which does all those twisting maneuvers and loops (14 inversions), the trains looks pretty bulky, and the UK can be a windy place. I do see bits of forums talk about how it stalls semi-often, but the ride usually stops until its fixed.
  20. Something tells me Smiler's days are numbered after this. Gerstlauer is going to be feeling this for a while, too. What a bad event.
  21. This stuff is only further fueling my disgust with the park. If the park does all this and doesn't claim responsibilty for anything, let alone the incompetence of how they handle things, why should I expect anything better from the rest of the staff? To me, its showing that they're taking their situation for granted, like they can go about and treat anyone the way they want because they have the government funding. Its like they are just happy with the park being open and not going above and beyond that. They're squandering the opportunity they've been graciously given by the Commonwealth. Its sickening to me. Their actions feel like a big middle finger to the public and the taxpayers despite anything good they might be doing.
  22. Yeah, I want the park to get out of the government's hands ASAP and be successful, but they've done little to show that'll happen. And until evidence of that happens, I will be enjoying myself at many other parks.
  23. Because no other site cares to look beyond the rides. They only care about being able to go and getting on Lightning Run. They couldn't care less about the other aspects of why KK exists, like a government entity running an amusement park by borrowing money from the bank using taxpayer owned land as collateral or how out of touch Ed Hart is. Why did KY dump all this money for KK when there is a myriad of other better things they could have done with that money? Its stupid and something I won't support. And what does the park have to show for it? Bad PR, weekly ride inspections, bad attendance figures, rides that take more than 2 years to reopen and still miss their opening date, and a park that relies on politics to operate.
  24. Well, Vekoma did have the help of the NASA level engineers to design Stealth, so I imagine Firehawk is pretty safe.
  25. Sometimes when I extend my arms to go for the Superman style, they start to feel tired due to how the g forces affect them. Make sure to hold on to the grips for the brakes, its a very hard stop.
