  1. Does anyone else think that this restaurant is going to invite lots of non-bathing-suit wearing guests to take a train ride and venture into the waterpark (not that that's necessarily a bad or good thing)? I can't help but think the park has already thought of this (or possibly planned on it for some reason?).
  2. This was posted a few weeks ago, looks like it's something that's going to be in the front of the park...
  3. Kings Island posted a blog post about the new restaurant today: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog-article/online-fun/Construction-begins-on-Island-Smokehouse/?mobile=0 Three things: 1. I'm always intrigued by the construction prowess of Kings Island. Breaking ground on an entire restaurant in early February that will be finished and open by Memorial Day. 2. There's an interesting line in the above blog post along the lines of certain "seasonal options". Are they planning on having access to this restaurant during the post season? 3. Would anyone want to take the time to show, using a satellite map image, where this restaurant is going to sit exactly? Thanks!
  4. I'd have to say my favorite thing is when I first pull up!
  5. I am just in awe at the attention to detail to the placement with this ride. This seems like a project that Kings Island would have done in its first seasons.
  6. Unbelievably, as of the 2016 season, I have visited Kings Island at least once for 20 different seasons. How many different years have you visited Kings Island?
  7. Outside of a trip I made to KI when I was 2 in 1975, my first "real" trip was in '92. Last season for the safari monorail, and I never made it over to ride it on that trip. **edit**Here is an actual photo I took during that trip:
  8. I've often thought that a (steel) Giga version of The Racer would be the way to go for Kings Island. Imagine that race.
  9. I'm not going to say it, because it is just too hard to believe! (see original post) Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
  10. What an absolute shame that ride was removed.
  11. I haven't been to Haunt for a few years, at least at night...do they still do the fog? That was my favorite part of the whole thing.
  12. Wonder if these stakes I saw in DA the other day could be connected:
  13. I still don't ride Diamondback on a regular basis because it still freaks me out. It's a shame, because I do enjoy it when I ride it, and it is so smooth and easy to ride over and over.
  14. I have feared that Kings Island has probably came closer to ceasing to exist at certain points in its history than anyone on here would want to know.
  15. I'd say that the fate of the giant wooden thing that used to reside in Action Zone did quite a bit to alter the Kings Island universe.
  16. Ha! I thought the username of the OP of this thread looked familiar...I'm the OP of this thread! I joined before the merger and, IIRC, I couldn't access my account, so I opened a new one.

  18. The older I get, the more it seems like just about everything can be politicized. Especially at my work. From now until after the election, it's probably going to get really interesting. That's why it's so nice to get on here and read about footings, funnel cakes, and which is the best seat to ride in a certain ride.
  19. This has made me realize that it may not be coincidental that certain parks that are well-known for record breaking attractions have avoided breaking any records when it comes to water park attractions.
  20. Took these photos a week ago...a sight that I never thought I would see. From the photos from when it was new in my original post, to the ones at about halfway through it's lifespan, and now completely gone. Strange they have left up the sign next to Kings Island Drive, as well as the one visible from I-71.
  21. I would be stunned if it were ever to open again period.
  22. That's funny. I took some pics of the same area when I was at the park last Monday. Has there ever been a Haunt here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I always wonder what it's like for Kings Island workers when it reaches that point, like a switch turning off, that people just stop coming to the park...depressing or happy to see the busy, busy time come to a close?
  24. It kind of seems like they have forever to get this thing done (April 2017), but I roughly figure 240 days (only ~160 if they take the weekends off). Not a lot of time to build an entire wooden coaster and have it ready to open to the public.
