  1. Me and Voyage first met in 2006. It was love at first sight. As I turned the corner on the highway and I saw fresh wood and her flags waving in the wind. It was a glorious sight. Sooner rather than later, Voyage welcomed me in and I got the chance to penetrate her queue and anxiously wait my turn. But oohhh was it worth the wait! It was a quick ride up to the top, and once that train whipped over the first it was such a rush of adrinaline. I've had rode a lot of woodies in my day, yet on that day I immeadiately knew that I could never be satisfied by any other woodie other than her. Voyage without a doubt has a special place in my heart. She had a really nice Timberliner dress in her closet last time I was over to visit her. It still had the tag on it and everything! Man, I bet she wood look great in that dress.
  2. I agree. This forum does have a tendency to take things much to seriously. People need to learn how to take things in strides. Especially on the Internet. It makes everyone happy campers. Now with this being said, is there times that a line can be crossed? Yes absolutely. But most of the time, that just isn't the case.
  3. Especially with all of the behind-the-scenes drama unfolding. In a perfect world, the trains would have been put on as planned in 2010, but something tells me that this will end up just like the RFID wristbands that Holiday World announced in 2009 I think it was. The HoliWatch program as I recall it. What happened to that? It just fell off the face of the Earth and never went on as announced and promoted. Never heard of the RFID program is it something like this (http://www.holidayworld.com/visit/holicash)? They have a cash amount loaded onto a wristband so you dont have to carry around your wallet in the water park. Just curious to what it was supposed to be since I haven't heard of it. It was a program that was announced to be a Child Tracking system with kiosks all around the park that parents or other party members could go to in order to find out where each other were located all around the park. Almost identical to the RFID system used at Dollywood in years past. But, no not really like the Holicash program, something completely different. It just never really happened. If I recall right, it was said to be delayed and they would implement it the following year. Following year came: No HoliWatch. Sounds somewhat familiar. Will this be the case of the Timberliners? Only time will tell.
  4. It would be interesting. But quite honestly, I'm losing all hope of these trains ever being implemented. So, with all of this being said, I do not see Timberliners being implemented onto the Voyage this season. The Koch's sound pretty preoccupied this off-season anyways.
  5. Must mean they are resurrecting Son of Beast behind closed doors underground and don't want us to see.
  6. Well it looks like this year's FD debate has been settled. Thank you Don! But I posted this in a different thread, and felt it would be appropriate here: "Even though it is an enjoyable ride. It is over rather quickly and at times seems to beat the absolute tar out of you. Especially with the OTS restraints on it. Now let it be known, I am one that said I could tolerate all of the Holiday World's woodies and even Sonny wasn't too bad IMO. But for some reason, Flight Deck just beats me. I like the suspended aspect of the ride, because its becoming a rarity nowadays, but the short duration of the ride, the roughness, and the absence of themeing after the Paramount buyout just all make this ride an after thought to me. And if the length of the lines for this ride are any indication, I'm not the only one who feels this way. In addition, Flight Deck sits on a lot of prime real estate right now. The long trek to get to the ride itself along with the plot the ride sits on seems like a significant amount of space. And with Son of Beast out of the way and Thunder Alley hearby excavated as well, who's to say that Flight Deck wouldn't be next on the chopping block when it comes down to an Action Zone re-haul? With Flight Deck's life span diminishing, it looks to me like it would be a decent move to start fresh." Now, it obviously won't happen this season, but in the next year or two, or three, I could see it being a possibility that gets thrown on the good ole' planning table.
  7. Flight Deck. Even though it is an enjoyable ride. It is over rather quickly and at times seems to beat the absolute tar out of you. Especially with the OTS restraints on it. 8. Wow. I never saw this coming. Horrible news. I cannot see any good coming out of this whatsoever. I just pray that the descion-making heads of this organization stay level headed. I still feel like this is Will's park and to do anything other than Will's intent is flat wrong. It was nice to have someone like Will, who cared most about the park and its guests as opposed to money and power, holding the reigns. I really wish for that back.
  9. Wow. I'm shocked the a Koch is not under the helm. It was kind of an abrupt change of hands. Didn't see it coming. I should have though. From the beginning, I felt like Dan was an awkward character to have holding the reigns, Although I miss Will as a GM and as a person, I feel like Matt will be a fantastic fit for the park. Especially with the prior park experience that he has. I am excited for the future. I see big things. BIG things.
  10. Holiday World still runs off of Pepsi. And wonderfully so, may I add. No price complaints here.
  11. That would make perfect sence to take down those two slides because frankly, they just are not fun anymore. Almost painful sometimes. That would definitely open up that area and create less of a bottleneck. Those two slides, as I recall, were the first two slides in SS's existence. In addition, no matter how crowded the waterpark is, those two slide rarely ever have a line. Yet, Congo River? This just doesn't add up for me. Both of those rivers are populated at once. I can't see them wanting to get rid of it 'too' soon.
  12. I do believe that "Dog Fart" takes the cake for best coaster name. http://rcdb.com/1332.htm The literal translation of the coaster, Hundeprutterutchebane, in Danish is "dog fart"
  13. No way. Theres no way the Ravens name can be changed. That's a legendary coaster. (no pun intended) It's like editing the words in the bible. It's a sin, a sin, I tell you!
  14. My guesses: renaming of the Sparkler, the new rumored dive theatre, and whats new in SS is beyond me. I have no clue in that department. Please don't get any hopes up guys. I'm expecting a repeat of 2011 here.
  15. Okay, this is just a general land ownership/taxes information. I was digging around on the land parcels map around Holiday World and was looking at the subdivision due north of the park. And I found out that some of the parcels in that area are owned by Koch Development Cooperation, while some other parcels are listed as being owned by Holiday Village Sub Div. Now, I dug a little deeper and recognized that Koch Development Cooperation had been documented for paying taxes on a good number of these parcels. What does this mean? Would that mean Koch Development would own these parcels and do what they wish on the land? I'm not too informed on this topic.
  16. Now that I think about it, that sounds like an extremely plausible hypothesis ya got there! I do recall seeing that (minus the bulldozer) on my trip on the 6th. I thought it was just annual offseason preparation, But you may be on to something. I can recall countless times that the dive show has been absolutely packed with viewers. Almost blocking the midway somedays. In addition, I have seen the word "improvements" thrown around by Holiday World PR. So this could make alot of sense.
  17. From the signs I've been seeing, don't expect much. Especially because on the HW Twitter it was said to be 'names' instead of name of 2013 attractions. So looks like we won't just be getting a something. We'll be getting a couple somethings. The most I'm looking forward to is a new area. But I'm even extremely skeptical on that. Side note, Holiday World has incredible fireworks shows on the 4th of July.
  18. Wow thanks alot. This may be an extremely stupid question. But I'm going to ask it anyways cause its bugged the crap out of me for awhile. People around these parts always claim that Holiday World will never get a steel coaster or a looper because then they couldn't be called a "family park." This is completely abserd, isn't it?
  19. Sorry for the double post, but unless I'm mistaken, I do believe that Holiday World owns a decent amount of land across the highway adjacent to 4th of July. Along with the land on the opposite side of the highway from Thanksgiving. Is it possible for HW to connect the park or add on over or under the highway? I'm completely dreaming at this point, but who knows. Does anyone know the actual undeveloped acreage the Kochs own? And where that land is located?
  20. You know, I have always been a HUGE fan of Holiday World. But as I go over and over again to the park, my only complaint and it may be a petty one considering that people like me don't consist of much of HW's revenue. But I feel like I can have a blast at Holiday World, for about 4-5 hours. Not the whole 8-9 hours that the park is open. Luckily for me, I have a pass and can come back as often as I want. But once me and others in my party (normally high schoolers) hit all of the coasters 3 or 4 times and all of the flats once or twice, it's not hard to ask "What else?" There is alot for the families to do, but for the more extremists? Not so much. With all of this being said, I still LOVE the park and am understanding that they are a "family park". I just hope that they continue with the world class thrills they've had a history with on their coasters.
  21. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/oct/04/no-headline---holidayworld/ "We did a great big project for 2012, so there may not be a big project in 2013," Koch said. "But I promise you, there are big, big projects coming for 2014, 2015 and 2016. They are already on the drawing board, but I am sworn to secrecy." I personally am not expecting anything in 2013. I haven't seen anything in the terms of survey markers and/or clearings. (Besides an attraction almost identical to 3 Point Challenge being constructed in 4th of July right to the far side of Sparkler.) They have been dropping indications on the parks first steel coaster semi-recently as some of you may recall. I can definitely see that coming in that 2014-2016 range. Easily.
  22. I'm under the impression that some are infering that the polo is being sold by the park itself. I do not think that is the case. Just thought I'd avoid some peoples confusion.
  23. I tend to anthropomorphize all of the coasters at parks, and Sonny is no different. Sonny to me was that mean man who was raised in a horrible home, without a mother. But yet, had such great expectations thrown upon him from his Dad. After years of trying to live up to his dad's legacy, he became increasingly more angry to the point where he would just beat the daylights out of half of the people that came to him. At one point, he was sending dozens of people to the hospital in a single day. After being on house arrest and no one seeing him in so long, he was given another shot at living a normal life. At first, he played nice. Some say that he was a completely new person. But all of a sudden one day in 2009, he snapped on a middle-aged lady. He once again, had sent someone to the hospital. At this point, he was tried in court and given the death penalty. He appealed and appealed but in 2012, he was ultimately scrapped into the chair and given the lethal injection. Something happened though. Something that no one had seen as long as anyone can remember. Sonny wasn't that mean old man that people were afraid of anymore. He looked like he did when he was young. Vibrant, glowing, youthful. His eyes were bright and shiny. Everyone yearned to have that certain Sonny back. And even some tears were shed as he passed. But it is, what it is. And Sonny was gone. And that's the story of Son of Beast. From how I imagine it, anyways.
  24. How would the park know if that man just went to the front gate, bought a ticket, and walked right in?
