  1. I wish I had gotten a photo of my dad and I on Dragster. His hair was blowing straight back, his eyebrows were arched all crazy, his eyes were so wide you could see the whites around them, and his mouth was twisted into some kind of crazy diagonal shape. When I saw the photo, I laughed until I had tears rolling down my face and my stomach hurt.
  2. I shiver when it's 60 degrees. The wintry weather in Ohio is just too unpredictable to keep an amusement park open all year. Besides, it hurts enough to ride coasters in the rain. I don't even want to know how snow or sleet would sting. That's an ouch factor I don't even want to think about. When it's single-digit temps or a blizzard is brewing, I'd rather sit inside, wrapped in my favorite sweater, with a delicious cup of coffee and a good movie.
  3. 3 hours for Millennium Force my first time at Cedar Point. TOTALLY worth the wait.
  4. I meant the shouting expletives in a good way such as on FOF, Dragster, Wicked Twister, etc. Not oversized piles of firewood like Pain Streak.
  5. I could not agree more. A 3 hour drive is a small sacrifice for a stellar park like Cedar Point.
  6. Justin, I live 3 hours away from CP and I've been there 5 times this year. I get up at 4 am, get packed, showered and ready, and I'm on the road by 5 am to give myself plenty of time just in case I hit construction or a traffic jam, stop for food or gas, etc. I get in at 9 am with my platinum pass so I'm usually one of the first ones in the lot around 8:15 am. I wait by the gate until 9 am and then make a mad dash (not joking, I actually do run) for my precious Millennium Force, which usually ends up being a walk-on that early! The drive home is kind of depressing, but that''s the only downside. There has been times when I didn't make it home until almost 3 am. But the CP experience is well worth the drive, trust me, you won't regret it. I was being truthful when I told you that no POV or photo does their coasters justice. You won't believe your eyes when you look to your left while driving over the causeway and see how huge their coasters really are for the first time. It's something you have to see for yourself, there's no word to describe the feeling.
  7. The website reads "From Sunday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 2, this offer will be available online, over the phone or at the park during regular operating hours." They shouldn't print a story with a misleading headline like that, when passes are not on sale yet. I wasn't targeting you, Terpy. I was merely pointing out the article's error in hopes that a hoard of people on this site wouldn't rush to buy their passes, only to discover that it is the 2008 pass that they have bought.
  8. Yeah, I know. I don't make any sense, do I? My favorites are HUGE steel coasters with launches and/or insane vertical drops. Thankfully, Intamin has unveiled many such a coaster. But I'll ride whatever coaster I can get, I'm pretty open minded and always up for a new ride experience. I've heard El Toro is pretty sweet. I really want to ride Voyage though. I have a huge list of coasters I need to ride.
  9. Agreed! I never enter Firehawk's line without a bottle of water. I learned this the hard way after almost passing out from the heat in a 2 hour line on a 90+ degree day. SOB is the worst coaster I've ever been on. That oversized pile of firewood gave me 3 bruises, a backache, and a headache. Advil was my best friend for the next 2 days. Never again. I'll ride Mean Streak at CP before I'll ride SOB again. As far as exiting, I exit through the gate where I want, whether it's marked or not. I always get glares from the guards, but I hate crowds and I just don't want to deal with it. Those TVs are horrible. They are gum magnets and no one watches the vids on them anyway. I LOVE BLSC. I don't care what anyone says. That ride is a ton of fun. It's no sky scraping steel monster, but it's proof that a coaster doesn't have to be a record breaker to be a good ride. Nick U blows away any kid park I have ever seen. I too understand why it's won the Golden Ticket award 7 years in a row. I don't have kids, but if and when I do, you better believe I will take them there. I love the midway music too, it gets you pumped! I'm sorry but they always had such cheesy music playing when Paramount owned the park. Now they play real music, and I love it. I have never found Beast to be terribly rough, and that's why I still ride it. Maybe for a second or two in certain spots, but it's the best wooden coaster I've been on to date. Then again, I'm an Intamin fan so I may be a tad spoiled on smooth coasters.
  10. That's me in the yellow.. Top Thrill Dragster front seat, no hands, and wearing a TTD shirt! Crazy enough for ya?
  11. From the KIDiamondback website: I am getting more excited with every piece of this coaster that is put together.
  12. That's quite an alarming drop in stocks and attendance. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
  13. I have been to the park 10 times this year and every single time I've went, that puddle has been there, rain or shine. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
  14. You are right. I just found the website confirming the coaster's relocation. http://www.rcdb.com/id4269.htm
  15. Or Intamin? Hmm. Quite a strange teaser. Certainly has a question mark above my head. I went to the Carowinds website and there is a very brief flash teaser on the homepage that says "SOME WORSHIP THESE.. OTHERS FEAR THEM.. find out on 9.10.08" with an image of a wooden box slightly open.
  16. Wow. She seemed really happy to be there, smiling and waving at everyone. Now that's cool. (And I love her outfit!) So many celebrities refuse to sign autographs or worse, are no-shows for a performance. It's nice to see one that enjoys their fame.
  17. Millennium Force's blocking issue has been resolved. Screamscape confirms it here, all 3 trains are now running. http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm My baby is all better
  18. I about choked on what I was drinking when I read that.
  19. Personally I can't wait to see what that first drop and all the others are going to feel like. What I'm about to say may sound crazy to a lot of you. I prefer the feeling you get from an extreme drop or the feeling you get from a launch, rather than airtime. I love airtime but I'd rather be dropped or launched, it's a better adrenaline rush.
  20. The only time I ever use a locker is before I get on Dragster. No cell phone of mine is going to become a missile at 120 mph.
  21. Is my avatar showing up as Wicked Twister to you guys? I changed it, but I still see my old sunset photo of CP (that photo I took myself).
  22. I was at work about three weeks ago, and my assistant manager and I were talking excitedly about Diamondback. This girl at the next register loudly says (and these were her exact words): "It doesn't go upside down. I won't ride it. If it isn't as fast as Top Thrill Dragster and it doesn't have loops, it isn't worth riding." I politely informed her that coasters with that kind of height and speed don't have loops because it will cause too much stress on the track, and she looked at me like I was stupid for a few seconds before she left. I rolled my eyes and muttered something not so nice after the woman left, and my assistant manager's reply was "Wow, you are really taking this personally." It wasn't until she said that, that I realized that my face felt a little hot. I guess I was more offended than I realized. I have enough stupid people come into my work without them arguing with me about coasters.
