  2. I went to Bay Area Bash this weekend and went on the worst wooden coaster in the "Mitch's coaster poll" for many years been in last place The Grizzly. And i went in thinking man how can this ride be so bad. After getting off the ride I think it should be moved up a couple notches and not last place I have ridden coasters that are worst.

Jobs Monday, November 09, 2009Home › Holiblog › Santa Claus pays an early visit Santa Claus pays an early visit This is so "hot off the presses." When we heard from the engineers who designed The Voyage that they wanted to also design coaster trains, we were intrigued. More... As you may remember, we provided The Gravity Group with a testing ground for their Timberliner prototype last spring. And today we announce that indeed we will have the first set of Timberline trains on The Voyage in time for the start of the 2010 season. Here's the news release: ‘VOYAGE’ ENGINEERS DESIGN NEW COASTER TRAINS SANTA CLAUS, IN-----The #1 Wooden Roller Coaster in the World will feel faster and a lot smoother in 2010, thanks to a new set of trains, engineered by the same team who designed the record-breaking coaster. “When the engineers at The Gravity Group told us they designed Timberliner trains with The Voyage in mind, they definitely got our attention” says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari president Will Koch. “The Voyage is extreme and we want to keep it that way season after season. These new trains will help a lot.” Koch says the Timberliner’s wheels are engineered to steer through curves as they move along the coaster track, creating a smoother ride and less wear and tear on the track. The seats are ergonomically designed for greater comfort, including an exclusive seat-suspension design. The padded seats will also accommodate wider-hipped and longer-legged riders. “Since the trains will ‘track’ better, riders will experience a much smoother Voyage,” says Koch. “That also means there will be less ‘rolling friction,’ so the ride will quite possibly be even faster when it reopens in May.” The Gravity Group’s engineers tested a prototype Timberliner at Holiday World last spring. The Voyage is 1.2 miles long and provides a record 24.2 seconds of “air time.” This steel-structure wooden coaster, ranked the #1 Wooden Coaster in the World by Amusement Today for three years running, includes a record five underground tunnels (some are double, creating eight “underground moments”), a series of dramatic drops (including a 66-degree angle of descent on the first drop), three 90-degree banked turns, and multiple track crossovers. The Voyage’s two new trains, which will each seat 28 riders, will be manufactured in Indianapolis. The Gravity Group is headquartered in Cincinnati.
  9. A Baltimore city police officer delivered the fright of a lifetime to a haunted house employee, pulling a gun on the chainsaw-wielding man at the end of his act, authorities said on Monday. Sergeant Eric Janik, 37, was charged with assault and reckless endangerment for pointing his service handgun at the worker, who was dressed as Leatherface, the killer from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Baltimore County police said. The employee, Mike Morrison, followed Janik and several other people up a staircase Sunday night at the end of the haunted house tour in a bid to get "one last scream" out of them, police said. When the group exited into a parking lot, Janik pulled his gun and pointed it at Morrison from less than three metres away, according to police and Morrison, who said he dropped the chainsaw, put his hands up and backed away. The saw had no chain. Only then did Janik identify himself as a police officer, said Morrison, who retreated into the building. "I started shaking pretty bad," he said. Another employee of the House of Screams called police. According to charging documents, Janik smelled of alcohol and told police two different stories about what he did with the gun. First, he denied drawing the weapon but later he said he pointed it at the ground. Morrison and two other witnesses told police that Janik pointed the gun at Morrison's chest. AP
  10. Nik was the one who requested that people should be up there watching him. I took Wallenda up on the Elevator the night before about around 9pm.
  11. I guess thats getting up close and personal with your favorite ride.
  12. I was born in 79 so The Beast and I both turn 30.
  13. Maybe it will be the change of Fairly Odd Coaster back to The Beastie. Would only be fitting to have with Beast turning 30.
  14. Correct me if I am wrong but i believe Dolly said she came up with the design for Tornado. Which actor/singer/sports person do you think could come up with a good design. I would probably go with either Stephen King or Mick Foley.
  15. Last season I lost my keys on Firehawk while going through the loop. I was only planning to be there a couple hours and go to work after but turned out to be a full day at the park from 10am-11:30pm.
  16. On the latest blog Don said is it April 18 yet? So Im guessing the 17th is out of the question.
  17. Was this the only movie to be filmed at Kings Island besides the tv shows Brady Bunch and Partridge Family?
  18. Thanks for fixing the post for me. I tried putting it up there like that but didnt work out so good. Im guessing the film was shot around the 80's I also found a clip where the main character is walking on the Screeching Eagle.
