  1. Everyone seems determined that The Bat is going to be demolished soon. Frankly, I don't see it. I personally see The Vortex plot as far better real estate for the park in regards to a new coaster being built. If we are going by the "service life" mumbo jumbo, I don't feel you can really compare The Bat to Vortex just because they are both Arrow coasters. Vortex was far rougher than The Bat currently is and didn't really fill much of a niche for your average person. This being said, I don't feel like it is impossible that they decide to remove it within a five year time frame. I just feel there are far more likely candidates such as Congo Falls or Invertigo, the latter of which has a horrendous throughput. I personally expect to see close to another ten years out of The Bat, but we shall see.

There is a reason it hasn’t opened this year. I’d ride it when you can if/when it opens again.

  2. -1 chaperone per 10 guests
-must enter with them and remain in the park
    -must be available by phone
    -only after 4:00
Is this enough, and how do you enforce this?

I think it’s gonna be hard to enforce this. I really hope this gets things in the right direction, but honestly I think it should be anyone under 18 needs to be with a chaperone. From my experience, seems most that are causing issues are between 14-18. It’s a slippery slope.

  3. I typically give KI a break.  But this year we upgraded to “Prestige”.  I was curious about the VIP lounge and knew that it would be a temporary location.  However I simply cannot believe the VIP area entitled us to… water… in Dixie cups.. and plain Lays potato chips.   No, I’m not joking - that was it.

I see a possible class action lawsuit.

  4. I think CF only allows mounted POVs.
Checking Kings Island POVs on YouTube, I see that professional influencers (Those that get all POVs with park approval) created POVs by mounting the camera to the train itself. There are no body cam created footage that I can find. I did notice some POVs on Youtube (will not link due to TOS) were done with glasses/sunglasses.
This does beg the question, Technically Glasses are allowed on rides but the rules state:

For safety reasons, on-ride photography of any kind is prohibited on all rides except the Eiffel Tower and the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad. Due to the potential for water damage, White Water Canyon, Congo Falls and Race for Your Life Charlie Brown riders should leave their cameras and other valuable items with a non-rider or in a locker. Use of camera phones or any type of photography or video recording devices is prohibited in any rest room or Soak City changing area.

Guests taking pictures or video while riding will be asked to leave the park with no refund given and may be cited with a misdemeanor under ORC 993.08.

So this would make any footage captured on said glasses against park policy (even if glasses are allowed on the ride). So you could be ejected for recording footage even though the glasses are allowed in the park and the ride? Is it the footage that's the issue?

The only legit POVs are provided by the park. They do not allow influencers to do POVs.

  5. Racer's repaint didn't start until the beginning of March last year so it's not out of the relm of possibility that they're focusing on other projects first. The downside is, we may see a later opening for DB or it'll be like Racer where they get sections painted as the season goes on.

Racer’s repaint won’t be completed for a couple more years. The new wood from GG needs 2 years before it can be painted.

From the images in the WKRC article, I am really curious what is going on in front of the storage building immediately behind the Freestyle location. While the park hasn't hinted at a third ride, this area doesn't match up with anything in the original concept art. It wouldn't make sense for the AE exit to go clear over there and the exit wasn't going that far over in the original concept art and the markers look like more than just a regular exit path.

It lines right up with the concept art and blueprints. Trust me. No surprises coming. That is the entrance and exit for AE. I'm guessing they may add an on ride photo for AE and add a photo booth on the exit.

  7. There are still copies available online with the book bundle: https://www.kingsislandgear.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/limited-edition-signed-kings-island-book-bundle
Comes with the photo book and Kings Island: A Ride Through Time, and both copies are autographed by Gary Wachs and Mike Koontz!

Great if you want both, but if you just want the photo book they’re gonna have to get more printed.
