  1. ^^ As has been stated, Cedar Fair's new management may or may not continue the Kinzel traditions. I hardly expect a theme becoming a staple, though Ouimet has declared a devotion to making the parks more family- oriented.
  2. A few years ago, I started a thread for sharing ideas on some future Action Zone retheme. Alas, it long fell dormant. Nevertheless, I'm sure some members (particularly those who had not been members in 2010) would enjoy looking back at what was discussed just over two years ago. http://www.KICentral...n-zone-retheme/ Post #21 of this topic, heroic super-user Shaggy recounts the decline and fall of Adventure Village, enlightening for the many...
  3. ^ May you familiarize me with the occasion of which you speak?
  4. Welcome!

      Thanks very much!

  5. ^^^^ This is what you find in America! http://www.themepark...pic.php?t=27131 And then, there's always the infamous 'Action Park...' http://www.weirdnj.c...id=39&Itemid=28
  6. I personally am very surprised Pipeline Plunge is being renamed. What's to be done with that 'pop' shanty the park payed good money for not long ago... The pool foreman had to deal with that last season after most announcements. ♫ We've got the Scream Machine and the Scream Machine ♫ Lovely.
  7. ^ This website, it seems, will answer your question. http://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/53/messages/1097.html
  8. Welcome to KICentral!

  9. It seems off-season web traffic has gotten considerably lesser every year since 2008-2009, the last time KICentral had a large off-season game. (The Mole.) At the same time, it appears web traffic during the regular season has gotten larger over the years... This summer (in my judgement) was incredibly busy. I could not keep up, so stopped posting. Still, I've always had very poor memory in relation to objective observations I've made in the past, so these perceptions may indeed be based on fallacy. Has anyone else noticed these things?
  10. ^ I wouldn't be so sure about that... See The Beach, less than a mile away.
  11. ^ + ^^ Adventure Express is my very favorite night ride. Its a truly remarkable experience riding Adventure Express during Haunt when thick fog settles in that valley and the coaster is submerged within.
  12. http://egotvonline.com/2011/07/22/the-worst-theme-parks-in-the-world/ Very interesting list, for sure...
  13. This is a little off topic, but interesting nonetheless... Banned for life from America
  14. This seems like it would be a hard thing to enforce. Does Six Flags Great America take the name of every person who enters the park? Otherwise, it seems a 'banned' individual would be able to skirt the park's orders by paying with cash.
  15. Consumer reports of Indiana Beach tend to be quite unfavorable... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g37340-d269784-Reviews-Indiana_Beach_Camp_Resort-Monticello_Indiana.html
  16. Yes. Source: http://www.coneyislandpark.com/history.php
  17. Defunct dark rides tend to be very poorly documented. I'd be tickled to find interior pictures of any of Coney Island's dark rides. (Though, the park has had quite a few dark rides and walk-through attractions throughout its history.) In addition to that, evidence suggests there were some (probably concessionaire owned and operated) dark rides and walk-through attractions in the late 1800s and during the Great Depression that got no documentation whatsoever. Let me see how many documented dark ride and walk-through attractions I can name right off: Laff in the Dark, Bluebeard's Castle, Devil's Kitchen, Noah's Ark, Hall of Mirrors, Showboat, Haunted House, The Spook, The Jungle... I'm sure I'm missing some.
  18. Listed under special features... Is this new to the Kings Dominion WindSeeker? If so, it will very much make up for the more than 1 million dollar difference. From what I've read here, such audio systems are extremely expensive. I believe Cedar Fair's decision to build WindSeekers at many parks to have been very wise. Not only is it a very marketable attraction (1), but it is extremely cheap compared to what Cedar Fair typically has been known to invest in (2). (Remember, Cedar Fair is still in overwhelming debt.) 1. In my own opinion, WindSeeker was a much more marketable addition for the 2011 season than any coaster would have been, considering Diamondback is still very new. 2. For the same price as Canada's Wonderland's Leviathan, Cedar Fair could of bought four WindSeekers, and had a little bit of cash to spare.
  19. This comment at the bottom of the article, I very much like. It is true... Once you can get past the poor sentence structure, of course.
  20. This time last year I was quite skeptical about the, well, sanity of having a wrestling show in a park with such a large teenage crowd. Now, a year later, my opinion on this has very much reversed. I had not anticipate the number of adults Half Print Brawlers would attract. Not only is it (arguably) one of the most popular attractions ever to open at Kings Island; the Haunt crowd, having a lower per capita of teenagers than in previous years, actually reached the point of tolerability. Last season was the first time I'd ever gone to Halloween Haunt without getting hassled by randomly aggressive teenage males. It felt completely safe. Now, wrestling surely is not my cup of tea, but it sure seems to work well for Halloween Haunt. (In other words, Browntggrr, you were right.)
  21. Yes, but most people on these forums have not visited said parks, so any poll of such would be incredibly biased.
  22. Politically, Hawaii is part of The United States of America. Geographically, Hawaii is part of Oceania, not a continent, but an expansive archipelago. North America as a whole has no centralized government, so it cannot reasonably be considered in that political aspect.
