  1. But Hawaii is not part of North America. Hawaii is in Oceania... ... And it is very off topic. I myself recall hearing certain mention of "Inferior Japanese Steel." As a matter of fact, here's a good mention of King Cobra right here: Topic Link
  2. I would like to see another one of these polls, but with flat rides instead. I bet there'd be much more discrepancy in the votes.
  3. Match 1 The Beast (10) vs. Top Thrill Dragster (3) Match 2 Magnum XL-200 (1) vs. Millennium Force (11)
  4. Match 1 The Beast (12) vs. Flight Deck (2) Match 2 Magnum XL-200 (12) vs. Vortex (3) Match 3 Top Thrill Dragster (10) vs. The Racer (5) Match 4 Millennium Force (9) vs. Diamondback (6)
  5. Holiday World, once again, made a genius decision in maximizing the popularity and enjoyability of Holiday World and Splashing Safari. The Kochs are exceptionally good at catering to the desires of the general public, and, in turn, are awarded almost every year with increasingly gratifying attendance numbers. I myself visited Splashin' Safari a few years ago and had only two issues: The first of which, being long lines, has been continually addressed by park management with new attractions. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the point of view), attendance has increased at such a rate that lines have remained about the same... The park is SO successful, that there isn't anything reasonable the park can do (in the near future) to eliminate the problem. The second issue, being the lack of shade, is easily pardoned because Splashin' Safari just has yet to develop large-scale tree growth.
  6. Match 1 The Beast(11) vs. Wicked Twister(5) Match 2 Firehawk(9) vs. Adventure Express(9) Match 3 Invertigo(1) vs. Top Thrill Dragster(11) Match 4 Flying Ace Aerial Chase(0) vs. Maverick(12) Match 5 Son of Beast(1) vs. Diamondback(12) Match 6 Wildcat(8) vs. Iron Dragon(8) Match 7 Mantis(5) vs. Vortex(11) Match 8 Surf Dog(1) vs. Blue Streak(12) Match 9 Woodstock Express CP(1) vs. Flight Deck(12) Match 10 Woodstock Express KI(8) vs. Mean Streak(8) Match 11 The Racer(12) vs. Corkscrew(2) Match 12 Flight of Fear(13) vs. Great Pumpkin Coaster(0) Match 13 Millennium Force(12) vs. Backlot Stunt Coaster(1) Match 14 Gemini(12) vs. Junior Gemini(1) Match 15 Magnum XL-200(12) vs. Disaster Transport(2) Match 16 Cedar Creek Mine Ride(1) vs. Raptor(12)
  7. Those descriptions are nearly identical to the old descriptions of Snake River Rapids and Jolly Mon Shores, both old attractions that were not always in operation. It seems both were renovated; no attractions were added or removed.
  8. I believe it would be more profitable for Kings Island to keep Action Theater free of charge, but, inside the theater, put a major focus on advertising Dinosaurs Alive. (As well as placing a ticket booth for Dinosaurs Alive right outside the theater's exit...) This is all speculation, as I know not of any research Cedar Fair did to facilitate this decision. I have no personal gripe against the decision, because, like others have said, this is how Capitalism works.
  9. This is the place to post changes you notice at Kings Island. (So the people not visiting are still in the loop.)
  10. "Make sure you spend lots of nickels at the park."
  11. Here's a fine interview of Vic Nolting, president of Coney Island: http://www.cetconnect.org/VideoPlayer.aspx?vid=5413
  12. ^ A while back, Kings Island posted up on either their blog or their facebook page something about the Crypt's downtime rates having decreased, but (apparently) made a spelling error, having used the word 'downtown', instead. The whole ordeal led to quite a lot of eccentric speculation all over these boards. Here's but one of the topics that posting spawned... http://www.KICentral...opic=20859&st=0 And welcome to KICentral!
  13. Yes, I can affirm this. Gray-outs can happen in a variety of situations, but almost always can be attributed to the lack of blood flow into certain parts of the head. People (like me) who have low blood pressure experience these gray- outs quite often. (Though, my gray- outs only rarely can be attributed to rides. In fact, I can only recall one such occasion... My gray- outs occur when I stand up too quickly, oftentimes succeeding a period of low energy.)
  14. The splash pools at the end of The Beach's slides are easily wadable. The only attraction with actual deep water would be the wave pool. If you haven't been to The Beach, I strongly suggest a visit. Having been to five water parks including Holiday World's Splashing Safari, The Beach is very easily my favorite. Its all in the atmosphere of the park...
  15. Such projects are meant to convince the corporations there is a market for cleaner energy. Partially because of such, I predict the continuously increasing effect of private investment into developing more efficient solar technologies will leave this canopy rather useless in maybe five or ten years. Here's an example of that kind of innovation: Solar Shingles
  16. Thank you for all this information, Robbie. Diamondback FOF, I worded it that way as I don't particularly expect very many landscaping positions to be available, and any adults asking for those limited positions would probably get hired first. But thanks for pointing that out; my rhetoric has always been a little dopey.
  17. It was a very tough decision, but I eventually decided to place my picks in the following order: Landscaping, then Rides. Do you happen to know when the interviews will be conducted? / Will you be one of the interviewers?
  18. I'm completing my job application right now, and I wonder wether or not anyone knows anything about the 'Warehouse Operations' position.
  19. Methinks this might have been some sort of intentional blow towards the Bible Park, meant to discourage their plans from coming into fruition? If so, this move mirrors the Kings Island expansion of Action Zone, which discouraged Six Flags' future plans for Kentucky Kingdom.
  20. I would consider this one of Kings Island's most marketable new attractions in years... Honestly. How many little kids will not want to go to this?
  21. Well said; very well said! Personally, I am one of the few who believe Kings Island has too many thrill rides and should gradually replace these with a variety of family attractions meant for the whole family to enjoy, but I digress...
  22. I still do not believe this is a walk through, as the most recently 'released' concept art just doesn't match what a well designed pathway should look like... Bottlenecks, shortcuts, constant curving... And long; very long. The same concept, a vehicle transport would work out just fine... Or a water- based attraction... Now, I'm not saying what it will or will not be, but I'd quite reasonably suspect either that concept was not near final, or we're missing something.
  23. I'd also like to point out that neither outline would make sense as a walking path. The first photograph, traffic flow would not work... People would doubtless be taking 'shortcuts' all throughout the path. The second one would be very awkward from an engineer's point of view. So many small curves... And what's to justify them? Assuming these are legitimate outlines of any planned attraction, said attraction would need to be able to make very sudden turns... I believe it looks most like a safari attraction with individual exhibition vehicles and a park- employed driver, though, I find a flume attraction much more likely. And a long one at that! Edit: Doctor Humor, read post 934. The dinosaurs for Dinosaur Unearthed just do not match the style of Kings Island's... At least in my eyes.
  24. I personally do not believe this is temporary. There are noticeable differences between the Dinosaur Unearthed dinosaurs and Kings Island's... Notice the contrast in skin texture. Thank you for that post; Otherwise I would not have been able to make such a comparison. And welcome to Kings Island Central!
  25. All the information that has been coming in, this is the only attraction I can think of that seems to fit without complication... Vekoma Raging River Safari Also, keep in mind that multiple attractions might be released this Friday.
